- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+83Awesome video.
I blame it on his spectacular mustache. - JC4P, on 10/12/2007, -0/+78Please don't film this, because he was crying.
- legendofxix, on 10/12/2007, -8/+78Holy crap that is awesome. I would LOVE to have this guys luck.
This guys luck is so good he should just buy a lottery ticket...and then win that! - sneeka2, on 10/12/2007, -10/+80Could anybody explain this "could of" thing to me please? I see it so often here lately. Has everybody forgotten basic grammar or this a new trend I've missed?
- falcon707, on 10/12/2007, -4/+58Not fair.
- mcnugget, on 10/12/2007, -14/+66You never know, he could of went outside and got hit by a car...
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51Lol, he looked like he was going to cry at the end. It must be a Brewster's Millions thing....
- timf, on 10/12/2007, -6/+54That isn't exactly luck. He's standing behind the tree for a reason.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+49My favourite part was where his hand paused for a moment as the cogs clicked over in his mind.
- scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47My Name is Earl: Aussie Edition
- 662662, on 10/12/2007, -4/+48that's good karma
- Strd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40Even if they did, I doubt they will take his prize from him. He made ordinary reenacting into something completly surreal. Anyway it would be bad publicity for them.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34Could of sounds like could have when spoken aloud. Many people get confused about it. I myself used to type 'of' instead of 'have' as well.
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32Awesome!! I wish I could digg this twice.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29In case anyone's interested:
250,000.00 AUD =
191,761.91 USD
100,625.14 GBP
211,714.73 CAD
149,417.04 EUR - cathoderay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25I was working in the newsroom that broadcast this news story originally (Nine News, Melbourne, Australia) and can attest that it's 100% legit. None of us in the office could believe it either but the tape and the guy's recation dosen't lie.
- afrazkhan, on 10/12/2007, -8/+30
Since we're being anal about grammar and what not, I'd like to point out that the correct phrase is "couldn't care less", and not "could care less", when talking about someone who doesn't care very much about something.
Sorry, I just want to clear that up so more people don't start using it the wrong way (it seems to be particularly prevalent here on digg) :_ - Wavey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Yeah, you could just imagine the synapses kind of shorting out for a second..."Wait...wha?...holy..."
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -6/+27Unfortunately for him, I bet the TV station bought the scratchcard for the filming! Oops.
- tutivlahos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19For 250.000.
- diggduggjoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18What is so awesome about the lottery win, is that he would never won the 250,000, if not for the TV station wanting a re-enactment. So, the first win for a car + TV fluff = 250,000. He is very lucky, indeed!
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I wonder if it'd be coarse enough to scratch the ticket...
- akifbayram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Or he is a Really good actor!
"Why the tears?"
Tears of Joy heartless people - idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I will grow a moustache and find out.
- bashar129, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15@ ihatekevinrose
That video had 1,029 views when I submitted it yesterday. Something wrong with youtube I guess. - robin1989, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16lucky bastard i never win anything
- LexisNexis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14It was really fun to digg you comment down and watch the whole page move!
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16He looks like a young Dr. Phil
- gd007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13many lottery winners end up in poverty. hope he is still well and prosperous.
- Ifligus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Reminds me of that episode of the X-Files with the luckiest man in the world. The dialogue went something like:
"How much can you win with this ticket?"
"A million dollars."
"No... I don't need that much. Got anything smaller?" - mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13too bad he's probably spent 250,000 on losing scratch cards to begin with.
- ihatekevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12WTF!? The video has a little over one thousand views, and the digg story has over 1500 diggs. Do people not even click on the links anymore?
- 11familyguy11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Because the narrarator is from that tv show, max x or something like that. You know, the one with the X list at the end, top 5 videos in whatever catagory that episode is about...
Usually shows like that will check in to videos. - bigkm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I've never seen that before but the footage looks so early 90's
- mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11at anagoge
"Could of sounds like could have when spoken aloud. Many people get confused about it. I myself used to type 'of' instead of 'have' as well."
You're close, but "could have" and "could of" sound distinctly different to me. What they're mixing up with "could of" is the contraction "could've."
Since we're talking about grammar and all... - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10except rapid fire lottery winning.
- slmndr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Time to reenact again and go for a million.
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -13/+21funny. what's he say at the end? is it "please don't kill me?"
- takemynamedamit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I think he may need to take some of those newly acquired funds , to re-paint the newly acquired car. After all, who wants to drive around in a moving adversment for vice. (Except the proprietors of said govt sanctioned vice)
- segosa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This also happened in My Name is Earl.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That was a great episode. The guy always had incredible luck, and if someone tried to take his prize, they would always die right after that from some freak accident (his good luck would flip over into bad luck). I miss the X-Files, they were very creative and some of teh episodes were even a little bit scary
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I wish I had half of his luck.
- adz999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8The footage was aired on Australian TV during the 90s not early 90s mid to late 90s if i remember right
- eN1X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Seems like a nice dude...thats pretty cool!
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Probably less if AUD takes a lot of taxes out of winnings.
- ArcticCelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And you are pretty sure based on what? Can you link to anything remotely talking about what you are so pretty sure about?
- cornerback42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Then why wouldn't he just give it to someone else to cash in and split it or give them a few grand for doing it. Anyone can give me a winning lottery ticket to redeem there's no law against that.
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hahaha the way he reacted was funny, I was expecting him to jump for joy or at least look happy!
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5+ inflation since 1995ish which is about 3.5% YoY for 11Y
- Groady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I remember when this happened. This was in Cranbourne, Victoria Australia. I remember afterwards the newsagent received a huge response from all over Australia from people wanting to buy lottery tickets and scratchies.
