  • jscrilla, on 07/07/2008, -2/+7I used to own a Honda 900RR. The guys I rode with stunted all the time. There was rarely an occasion where they wrecked. When they did, it was usually ugly either for them or the bike. Most of them do it for the rush and the ego. I've seen some of the most amazing displays of reckless trickery riding with them -- standing on the seat at 50mph, crazy Endos, endless 70 mph wheelies.

    As for myself, I didn't succumb to bashing my head into pavement.

    • waydee, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2People are hating because these guys are being retards about their hobby, i've nothing against bikers or bikes even though i've lost 2 of my friends to bike accidents this year already but I do have something against guys who try and show off, pop wheelies, do various stunts on the public roads - its dangerous, drives up insurance rates for everyone else and most importantly risks the lives of other road users. If you want to kill yourself driving like an idiot, do it on your own private property.

      Motocross and skydiving are done in the proper location for the sports, your comparison makes no sense.

I know it's dangerous, but my point was that there are a lot of things that people do that is dangerous. so really, the reason for all the hate is due to the amount of danger that they are putting other people in

        some of these guys do appear to be doing the stunts on empty roads (not necessarily private) or private tracks- but there are many also that do it on the highways with other cars too- but that's no different from those street racing rice rocket kids or drunk drivers

  • bigstinky, on 07/07/2008, -0/+5These idiots are the reason the car driving public has no compassion or respect for motorcyclists. I was in an accident caused by a Suburban. That person did not see me or just plain disregarded me. I was doing 50 when I hit the ground.(And I was practicing safe driving habits.)

    There are places for that sort of showing off. Public roadways are not the right place to pull 120 mph, in rush-hour lane slalom, or your bad-ass infinite wheelie skills. That last fool could have taken out those other two bikes...Let alone being run over by the car taping him. I certainly would not want to be the guy who just crushed his skull under my wheels.

    Fools.
  • sab0tage, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3I have no problem with riders stunting, if they are on a private road or track. If they want to ride lid-less (which is illegal in England) then so be it, but they must realise if they hit the ground then some thing's going to get damaged.

    I personally ride with a full face race lid, full leathers, back protector, gloves and boots, it's a bit of hassle but essential for motorway riding. I've come off my bike a few times, one major (femur broken, two bones in my hand), and a few slides (one due to ice and one due to dust), it's not the nicest thing in the road, but I'm more or less in one piece and i know for a fact that if I wasn't wearing sensible gear I would probably have died.

    But why would you do this stuff, and choose not to wear any protective gear at all? Isn't that just showing that you're trying REALLY hard to be a badass and willing to risk the possibility of seriously maiming yourself rather than having a helmet or jacket decrease your badass style rating?
