- Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+70Yeah, I mean, what's the point, after nine years? The laws of physics and principles of chemistry have probably changed by now.
- abeg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Bill Nye? I learned about this from Mr. Wizard early 80s
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29how do you mix up an Australian accent with a computer synthesized voice box?
- nexah3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I hate it when my pepper gets in the middle of my bowl of water.
- cr3ative, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Crikey, you must be easily amused! :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Wow... you managed to slip politics into something totally unrelated AND get dugg up!
- rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21You're an idiot.
1. It's Hawking, not Hawkings.
2. (as already pointed out) He's English, not Australian.
3. He has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gherig's disease) and CAN'T TALK.
4. He's an astrophysicist. What the hell does that have to do with surface tension and "magic tricks"? - SHIFTderek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19WITCHCRAFT!!! O_O
little known fact: bill nye is actually a warlock. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Since when is Stephen Hawkings Australian?
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Mr. Wizard was the *****. I miss that guy
- Lane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9(4) Friends Dang it, i was so close to doing this one too!
- Murphious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Surface tension and fluid dynamics have been around forever.. That's true I guess...
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6just noticed the "this video has earned $299" message. Is this Producer Rewards thing for real? that "real matrix" video has apparently earned almost $25,000. something's fishy here o.O
- BarriedaleNick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Blimey - how old is that. We did a similar thing with Lycopodium powder about 25 years ago in an effort to measure how many atoms in a drop of detergent.
In my day etc etc - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Don't fu*k with magical energies, they are very powerfull. Only well trained wicca or priest can control them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hawking has an american accent. Or rather, the computer he uses to talk does.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well that was kind of cool if you happen to be carrying a bit of pepper and soap on you...
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4SCIENCE!
- theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I just did this with my 6 year old, and he said
"WOAH!"
It really is neat. - beatmonger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Want a real trick? Put different colored drops of food coloring inside a pan of milk and add dish soap. It's like modern art.
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5huh?
- MikeEnIke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My spoon is too big!
- joeisanemokid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3a comment from the meta cafe page...
"It doesn't work with human crap though. However, you'll get a good laugh when your friend puts his finger into it." - JonDiggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6that was the coolest thing i've ever seen
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i think it has to do with disrupting the surface tension on the water, causing whatever water around the soap to pull on itself, expanding it away and taking the pepper with it, though exactly what happening i'm not sure.
you see this done on dish washing liquid commercials, where a pool of water with grease floating on it magically retreats away when a drop of the soap hits the surface. - Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You guys ever hear the story that you tell with this magic trick?
- daimposter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the video was neat. but a comment left by a user was the best!
Works with anything. [ +4 good ]
it also works with other things like flour, pepper is better i think because it is black :)

- spyduh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I know what I'll be trying tonight!
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The story that goes with it is the pepper represents people in a pool and the soap represents a polock or gay person that got in the pool. I know its wrong...I didn't come up with it
- hannahmar, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1Ahh... nostalgia! I used to do this when i was 10 or so and amaze my friends. I love it, thanks for the video :D
- eatsushi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I think I saw this on Mr. Wizard on Nickelodeon when I was a kid
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...no

You got soap on my pepper! - jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not wanting to reserch this, what is in the soap that causes this reaction and why?
- johnnyrocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is ancient. I saw this is a kids magic tricks book in the 80's.
- kooft, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Magic trick for kids, really young kids. Seriously, anyone who's ever washed dishes has seen this.
- JackHallows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's been like this for a while now.
- itsmactime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats pretty good for kids. I'm studying to become a teacher and I can bet one day I could do this in a science lesson. Thanks for the post!
- cr125er, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lol my speakers were wiggin' out and it sounded all distorted, calm it!
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Any youtube links? I'm sick of sites REQUIREING flash to be updated to the latest version. They should just let it play and if you don't have the latest version & it ***** up, then display a warning somewhere saying it needs it. ANd Adobe should put out Flash 9 for linux already.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Has digg seriously come to this??!?
Very, very buried. - dongcha9, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2that is the dumbest trick i have ever seen. He's not even trying to freeze himslef, leviate or hold his breath.................twa!
