- Amnesia10, on 05/02/2008, -16/+238It is a sorry state of American media when the satirists are closer to reality than the mainstream media.
- selmer, on 05/02/2008, -9/+126This is one of the most important elections in the history of this country. Basically, we have three very intelligent, capable, experienced people, all of which would probably make good presidents. How do we as a society evaluate them? By their race, their religion, their gender, what they went through 35 years ago in a POW camp, who their pastor was, whether they handled their spouse's infidelity well enough, whether their hair is colored, how hot their spouse is, how good looking they are, whether they dress well, how they look when they are tired, if they are good at basketball, if they can hold their liquor, how they did on a fake news show, who they know, their waistline, their hairline....
This election could have been a bright spot in an otherwise completely miserable decade. Instead, it is going to be a typical American mashup of scandal, slander, umbrage, extremism and empty promises. I hope Obama makes it through this Wright thing, but knowing our ***** system, it probably will be replaced by something else.
Still, I'd rather be here than anywhere else. Oh, and ***** the Red Wings. - CannedMango, on 05/02/2008, -9/+78Words cannot describe my loathing of the American media.
- veotho, on 05/02/2008, -4/+47You lost me at "all of which would probably make good presidents."
- jaybol, on 05/02/2008, -7/+35dugg for hatred of the red wings
- swrostmore, on 05/02/2008, -2/+26If we actually evaluated candidates by the comparitive hotness of their spouse, Kucinich would be Dem nominee.
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -4/+28Yeah, let's focus on the real issues, like whether McCain called his wife a ***** during an argument 16 years ago or whether one of Hillary's advisors said the n word in private.
- noseeme, on 05/02/2008, -3/+22Digg likes the word "slam".
- lickmylovepump, on 05/02/2008, -8/+25here we humans have 'evolved' so much, that, billions of years later we still don't see that character and integrity actually matters in politics. no wonder we keep electing douchebags.
- SuperMoses, on 05/02/2008, -1/+17When will these guys use flash movie and a server with more bandwidth?
- Rotzooi, on 05/02/2008, -2/+18...because you are obsessed with Jon Stewart and not allowing yourself to see the hundreds of other submissions?
- Addex, on 05/03/2008, -1/+17http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?vide ...
- dinot, on 05/02/2008, -3/+16So you're not allowed to vote unless you work in those fields? How democratic.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 05/02/2008, -4/+16You do realize that Jon Stewart IS one of the writers, right?
- InnerRayg, on 05/02/2008, -1/+13Proof that someone should not be allowed to vote:
The assumption that their vote is somehow more important than everyone else's and should be given more consideration. - Recluse84, on 05/03/2008, -6/+18I know at least two (ignorant) people where I work that have already switched their votes to Clinton because of all this Wright stuff being cycled over and over on the only place they get their "news", the TV stations.. Once again an election being decided for us.
- chrisaug18, on 05/03/2008, -0/+12There were no humans, let alone politics billions of years ago
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -3/+14Yeah, ***** democracy! Wait...
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -2/+13In that case you missed a very good opportunity to stfu.
- azpat, on 05/03/2008, -1/+11fair point, but consider that in the same week that the news focused entirely on Barack's "bitter" comment, news came out that Bush himself authorize torture. That was all but ignored because Obama said the word "bitter."
this week we have a supreme court justice arguing on national TV that torture isn't cruel and unusual punishment because the people we torture aren't being charged with a crime, have not been convicted of a crime and therefore are innocent of any crime (innocent until PROVEN guilty, you know) and thus our torture of them can not be considered punishment, making the point of whether or not it is cruel and unusual moot. On ***** national TV. A ***** supreme court justice said this.
And all they can ***** talk about is rev. Wright.
WTF? - Balks, on 05/02/2008, -5/+15This is easily the most generic comment you could have used. Seriously, with every John Stewart topic, there is always 30 seperate comments that say the exact same thing.
- timeshifter, on 05/02/2008, -4/+13Guess we wouldn't be hearing about it if Hillary went to a church for 20 years where David Duke was the pastor?
- TheFirstKnight, on 05/02/2008, -0/+8And eviscerate. Seems like they're in every front page and top-upcoming Jon Stewart video title.
It's an awesome word though. Glides off the tongue. - CannedMango, on 05/02/2008, -5/+13Yes, because there's no value in showing how ridiculous the media coverage of it has been....
- obliviousfool, on 05/02/2008, -2/+9Like George Foreman's?
- bradleyland, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7Wow.
As I sat here and watched the clips of the mass media coverage of Rev Wright, I thought, who could really believe that Obama's ideology is aligned with this quack? Then I read your comment, and it saddened me. - inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7Why don't you people link to the youtube video?
- CannedMango, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7Nice straw-man... can you put one up in my yard to scare away the birds?
- redheadguy719, on 05/02/2008, -6/+13"not only did barack obama throw him under the bus, he's driving the bus! And rolling over him again, and again..." -Random dumbass news anchor
- humperdinck, on 05/03/2008, -1/+8Are you? Read the comment again, Einstein.
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -1/+8Yes, god forbid we spend our time focusing on the issues of the country and the candidates stances on them.
- thedragon4453, on 05/02/2008, -4/+10Actually, I'm much more concerned with whether or not a candidate wears a flag pin. Who cares about the housing market/economy/gas/inflation/war/healthcare? FLAG PIN!!!!1!
- headzoo, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6When it stops being true, people will stop saying it.
- ziptnf, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6Right, because all accountants have perfectly tuned political minds.
- malex, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6Comparatively speaking.
- badassninja, on 05/02/2008, -1/+7Because it seems that only he and other shows like him are able to broadcast the truth.
- HMTKSteve, on 05/03/2008, -2/+8Didn't Obama himself say that talking about Wright is a legitimate issue in this election?
- endustry, on 05/02/2008, -0/+6Words are somewhat outmoded. Maybe ASCII art will provide the required expressive range.
- dinot, on 05/02/2008, -1/+7Then we'll have a country fun by the likes of Fanny Mae and Bear Stearns. Yeah, that's working real well for our economy right now.
I'll bet you have adequate training in accounting, finance, and economics, right? - malex, on 05/02/2008, -1/+6You know... the truth doesn't *always* depend on where one's political allegiances lie.
- actorboy, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6"yeah increasing the unfairness of affirmative action"
Translated: "We can't let them have just any job -- before you know it, they might want to have any job."

A white folk - MavRevMatt, on 05/03/2008, -4/+9This is why The Daily Show is better than mainstream news like Fox.
- V0lk, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5Just like all these so-called "debates" the candidates have.... 2 hours of repeating the same sound bites over and over in each debate. Why not have a 2 hour long debate on JUST the economy, or JUST foreign policy....or would that actually give the candidates time to go into DETAILS of their plans. Oh wait, I forgot, flag pins are more important....
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 05/02/2008, -0/+5There's at most four daily show submissions a week.
- ajwinder, on 05/03/2008, -2/+7Well, McCain hasn't gotten any crap for the far-right christian leaders hes tied himself to. People like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell who said 9/11 was God's revenge for the gay rights movement and women in the workplace. I mean, to me, thats a much more offensive clip. So whats the issue? Its hard for me not to believe that the media treats the intolerance of minority groups on the same level as they did Wright. So, I wouldn't necessarily say Clinton wouldn't have been attacked, but I think she would have a better shot than Obama ever got.
And while we're at it, lets be clear. I'm waiting for all the catholics in this nation to walk out of their churches in repudiation of a systematic silencing of rape victims of the church for years. I mean, if we're going to expect it of our leaders, we really should be expecting it of ourselves first. Any true churchgoer should know there is a ton of truth in what Obama said. You go to church because you believe in a philosophy, not because of a single man or woman. Faith is deeper than one single nutjob. - thedragon4453, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5Even if a good portion of Americans knew what each candidate is about (they don't, just ask them why they are voting for their guy), I'm sure that there is something better to talk about and debate than flag pins and the other inane ***** that the MSM is coming up with.
- Mejari, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5Actually, the majority of Americans don't know the candidates' true positions, for the same reasons that a not-insignificant portion of the country that still believes Iraq had WMDs (the media doesn't do their job of reporting the truth).
P.S. Why would someone who hates America go through all this ***** to lead it? - Kenzan, on 05/03/2008, -2/+7That Black people or other minorities might one day obtain power in this country fact frightens you very much.
- Lazydriver, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6STFU. Clearly, both ideologies are different by an enormous amount.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6NASCAR?
