- asauterChicago, on 01/13/2009, -0/+5Well, but it's like anything, you should only partake in moderation. If a person drinks all day, everyday for several years, I can say with certainty that they would be far worse off than this person. But that's alcoholism, and I don't think anyone argues that alcoholism is bad. In the same way that abusing Marijuana is bad and if consumed everyday for several years, you will suffer from all kinds of health issues.
There are plenty of people in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s that smoke pot and they are regular productive member of society. But like alcohol, it's not an everyday thing, it's more like a glass of wine. In fact, the people I know that do partake in their mid-30s to 40s are more likely to treat Marijuana as if they were going out for a day of wine tasting in Napa valley: "This weed has a unique aroma backed with a syrup sweet resin, hints of citrus with a strong cerebral high" and it's not about doing huge bong rips, it's about enjoying the buzz and the different flavors of the Marijuana. It's a whole different ball game when you get older, in the same way you stop doing keg stands and buying cheap beer when you get past 30 (for most of us), and start buying higher quality wines and imported beers. - Ardiente, on 01/13/2009, -0/+5Well I can say with a cocky assurance that they are happier than, well, all the old people that I know.
- greenwald, on 01/13/2009, -0/+3"I can take it or leave it but I'm better off when I take it" wonderful quote
At first I was thinking oh no, the guy was going to announce he's only 38 or something.
Personally I think a person should only smoke moderately in there teens and twenties and then lay into the weed more as they mature to an age where they get more positive benefit from it rather than use it as a crutch their whole lives. - catalystmotive, on 01/13/2009, -0/+2that's exactly how i'm going to be when i'm older...'cept ALOT cooler

- greenwald, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2 Very true observations concerning the usage by older adults!
I'd add that older people gain more from weeds ability to temporarily enhance certain senses. In doing so it gives one the opportunity to reopen the mind to value and beauty that routine or habit have caused us to dismiss. If used with purpose and moderation the young can benefit as well but they may not realize it's a tool instead of what I am labeling as a crutch.
