- kikujiro113, on 06/02/2009, -11/+311its too big to fail!
- antoniuk, on 06/02/2009, -1/+137I think he is referring to "have had"
- Camspoozel, on 06/02/2009, -21/+147There were no helicopters in 1912...
- DarthVolta, on 06/02/2009, -22/+144Lame.
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/4/1/ - sageerrant, on 06/02/2009, -40/+158"If the US Government have had Rescued the Titanic..."
Do you see the problem here? Buried for being all kinds of stupid. - JJJohnson, on 06/02/2009, -1/+118What if the submitter have had learned english?
- torgo112, on 06/02/2009, -12/+103Its funny because the government doesn't care about anyone.
- mtnboy, on 06/02/2009, -20/+85You got that Right about our government
- eraofk00l, on 06/02/2009, -1/+65i was expecting the cartoon depicting US government dumping wads of cash into the sinking Titanic. Titanic being the economy.
- hitkaiser, on 06/02/2009, -3/+62http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopter#First_flig ...
- amcnair, on 06/02/2009, -2/+60@AdamWalters "Should I of said"? Really? Wow.
- terracottapai, on 06/02/2009, -1/+50That also bears no physical resemblance to the Titanic, but it's not really worth nitpicking.
- Trigonometron, on 06/02/2009, -4/+51Why come you no have had tattoo?
- TyrannousDotNet, on 06/02/2009, -11/+49Too soon...
- zjbird, on 06/02/2009, -0/+38You went through all the trouble to steal a comic and get powerdugg up, at least have the competence to have a title that makes sense.
And it's "Should I HAVE said," Not "Should I of said." - AngryAngryBrian, on 06/02/2009, -2/+39The cartoon itself makes no reference to the ship being the Titanic. The submitter conjured that one up.
- funkedup, on 06/02/2009, -7/+43The fundamentals are strong!
- RumpleForeskin3, on 06/02/2009, -4/+40Actually I think we would have spent millions to keep the boat floating half above water so all of the sailors would have jobs.
- ATL, on 06/20/2009, -0/+35have had? LOL
- PWoT, on 06/02/2009, -15/+46Holy ***** political cartoons are horrible. The analogy makes no sense. The builders wouldn't be in a position to fix the titanic at that stage, but the people getting bailed out ARE the ones who will have to turn the institutions around, make sure the credit markets don't freeze, etc.
Gosh, it's almost like a complex issue can't be conveyed in a poorly-drawn one-panel image.
- billizm, on 06/02/2009, -2/+32That is the submitter's fault. The cartoonist makes no such reference to the ship being The Titanic, or have had the bad grammar.
- joot2112, on 06/02/2009, -1/+31Should you of listened to 3rd grade grammar lessons, you have had better writing skills.
- CyclonusRIP, on 06/02/2009, -0/+26AND WHY ARENT THERE ANY SHARKS?
- felman87, on 06/02/2009, -10/+36Oh, I thought he was referring to the fact that the Titanic was a British ship and therefore would be saved by the British Govt, not U.S.
- Wreckage, on 06/02/2009, -4/+26The Government is just protecting its investors. Since lobby money means more to them than votes.
- Leezus, on 06/02/2009, -2/+24Instantly one of my favorite Penny-Arcades. Most political cartoonists have a painful lack of wit or subtlty.
- caoimhinn, on 06/02/2009, -1/+22No--it's nothing like that. Most of us communicate through on-screen text all day every day. We should certainly learn to use language properly.
- otbeverly, on 06/02/2009, -0/+21http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=metaphor
- mikemx7f, on 06/02/2009, -2/+22"a large portion"
[citation needed] - inactive, on 06/02/2009, -1/+21And how would they have had a helicopter?
- govsucks, on 06/02/2009, -2/+21Saved the investors?
.10 per 1.00 /= Saved - ObeseSnake, on 06/02/2009, -0/+17How's is babby
- jardine64, on 06/02/2009, -1/+18AND WHY DON'T I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?!
...
I know its not entirly relevant... Just thought I'd throw it in there...
Um... Move along then.... - otbeverly, on 06/02/2009, -1/+17There is no -- I repeat, NO -- reference to the Titanic in the original cartoon. It's simply a sinking ship.
- inactive, on 06/02/2009, -3/+19"I'm leaning towards stupid"
I bet you really are. - NightC, on 06/02/2009, -2/+17Probably true.
- Ghoztt, on 06/02/2009, -13/+27the system where the
poor get poorly paid
to hold the ladder
where the rich get ricocheted
into the stratosphere... - DarthVolta, on 06/02/2009, -4/+18You obviously missed the point of my comment - I linked to the Penny Arcade comic because it was a send-up of political cartoons, and I though it was relevant.
I said lame because I thought the titanic cartoon was heavy handed and not clever at all. - EarthernJar, on 06/02/2009, -0/+13No, you shouldn't of said that either.
- gbates31, on 06/02/2009, -0/+13You're not unscannable, are you?!
- TheAverageMike, on 06/02/2009, -0/+13It's funny, because they do care about someone; just not you or me.
- mikemx7f, on 06/02/2009, -3/+15Yep, what a great way of convincing people! You're so much smarter than all of us!
- inactive, on 06/02/2009, -2/+14Wrong. The titanic was a foreign ship. the US government would have bombed it.
- peteyb1313, on 06/02/2009, -0/+12oh snap
- threat42, on 06/03/2009, -0/+11HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
"Should I of said"
You ***** SLAY me! - idastheman, on 06/02/2009, -1/+12I would invest in your manufacturing of ladders.
- sageerrant, on 06/02/2009, -2/+13Just to clarify, I was referring primarily to the "have had" grammatical abomination.
Beyond that, WE GET IT ALREADY. Bailout bad, oh noes, rich people always win. You're all welcome to digg every lousy political cartoon that comes along, but I've seen more than enough—especially when you consider that we're in the middle of E3, and there's sure to be something much fresher to drool all over.
Furthermore, it's taken from http://projects.ajc.com/gallery/view/opinion/lucko ... (credit to mcritz for noticing), where it appears in color... in April of 2008. More than a year ago.
I don't really mind power-diggers much, but I can't stand the stupid ones that submit any old thing just to see what happens. - Rmo4, on 06/02/2009, -3/+14This makes no sense. GM failed for two reasons:
1) A complete and utter lack of innovation. GM cars have been ***** for years.
2) The UAW went far beyond the scope of reasonable compensation for its members. UAW workers were overpaid with too many benefits.
The government taking over GM is not a remedy for the select few in the upper echelons of GM and the investors in general. GM has been reduced to a penny stock, the takeover does not change that. The UAW will now be forced to renegotiate for more tenable terms, something they should have done ages ago. Also, the management at GM will now be forced to innovate and create a sustainable model.
This situation is *****, but don't make it sound like the government is just trying to keep the rich rich and saying ***** you to everyone else. - fmaxwell, on 06/02/2009, -1/+12Perhaps you are stupid.
- jackgillett, on 06/02/2009, -0/+10Did you notice that the picture is in black and white?
