- wreckosaurus, on 11/06/2008, -7/+208When I watched his concession speech, I saw the man I saw in 2000. The one I hoped would defeat bush in the primaries. If he had run an honest campaign and behaved the way he did that night, he would have stood a much better chance, but he chose the lowest road possible and he got what he deserves.
- TheAmazingBob, on 11/06/2008, -80/+200I find this very offensive, defacing the one valiant and respectable moment of the McCain campaign.
- o76923, on 11/06/2008, -3/+112you have a point Bob, at least McCain quit when it was over and didn't just try to sabotage Obama, like a certain Clinton...
- DrFil, on 11/06/2008, -2/+96I totally agree. I thought the speech was very good and McCain was very humble and honorable.
- puter, on 11/06/2008, -2/+83I'm with Bob on this.
McCain's speech was very good and very respectful, and I think he deserves props for that. - drlha, on 11/06/2008, -22/+87It's comedy, try not to be so outraged.
- ani625, on 11/06/2008, -9/+69Nicely done.
Also enjoyed the actual speech though. - metaliq, on 11/06/2008, -0/+54The crowd's reaction was disgusting.
- kierucom, on 11/06/2008, -1/+48I agree with Bob as well; I watched McCain's concession speech and was very impressed with how cordial, and how composed he was during the entire thing. To be sure, had he spoken as eloquently and with as much dignity throughout his campaign as he did that night he might have had a better shot.
I'm pleased he failed to do so however ;D - awinters, on 11/06/2008, -1/+40I guess its all perspective, but that speech reminded me of the John McCain that I like a lot. His crowd was kind of ugly with the boos and all, but I believe he meant what he said.
The sad thing was that I was watching FOX NEWS (sorry liberals, I kind of like it) and Carl Cameron threw it out there that Republicans now suspect that McCain speech answered suspicions that he wanted Obama to win because he felt it was time for a black president.
Totally ridiculous. He clearly wanted to win. That speech seemed genuine to me. - ElGubrush, on 11/06/2008, -5/+43McCain is free from his handlers now, that was exemplified in his concession speech.
That said, here's how it would've sounded if Steve Shmidt wrote it for him. - eatsleeptrumpet, on 11/06/2008, -10/+47"The failure is my wife Cindy, my children, my dear mother."
Dugg! - mmx2000, on 11/06/2008, -8/+37He did give a great speech that was classy and eloquent. That doesn't excuse him from condoning the behavior of his campaign over the last 1.5 years. How soon you all forget.
- iatethecake, on 11/06/2008, -3/+31i think the grandmother thing is a bit too far
- gametavern, on 11/06/2008, -33/+60Jesus, the McCain bashing still won't stop on Digg? Enough with the negativity, lets move on with our good change!
- gwaggy12, on 11/06/2008, -0/+25So true. John McCain was a great candidate in 2000. If he had shown the integrity I expected out of him in this election, he might just have gotten my vote.
- erictheturtle, on 11/06/2008, -3/+27LEAVE MCCAIN ALONE!!!!!
But seriously, he runs a vicious, dirty campaign for a year, and then people defend him and says we should forget it all because he gives a decent 5 minute speech? - mislam, on 11/06/2008, -4/+28Did not find it very amusing and I supported Obama. Let him bow out with dignity and lets not kick the man while he is down.
- petebot, on 11/06/2008, -4/+27I agree—his concession speech was classy. But lighten up, this is just a joke.
- sunburner, on 11/06/2008, -2/+20Haha I knew this was coming. I really wish he would've campaigned in the same tone as his concession speech myself. His negativity and Palin's lack of knowledge made me vote for the Big O.
- drmangrum, on 11/06/2008, -1/+19I so wanted McCain to yell out "And I no longer have to pander to you asshats anymore!" when the crowd started booing.
- apec766, on 11/06/2008, -0/+17So true. I used to respet to hell out of McCain, the one from 2000. The integrity and class were extraordinary. But he's lost all of that, and as others have said, a part of himself.
- Lucas123, on 11/06/2008, -4/+21That's not true in any sense. I know this is just a spoof, but McCain was remarkably gracious in his speech, complimenting Obama and making it clear that Obama is now his president. He's a classy man in every sense. I think Obama would be wise to tap his talents.
- mikbunn, on 11/06/2008, -7/+23He's just tired. So very, very tired.
- Deathalicious, on 11/06/2008, -2/+18His concession speech was incredible. If his whole campaign had been conducted in the tenor of that speech, I would have really been a bit heartbroken to see him lose. I'm pretty upset at the GOP leaders who effectively sidelined McCain in a "do anything to win" tactic that backfired so badly. McCain was a really good man who was misled by advisors to pander to the Republican "base" that hated him only slightly less than Obama and only voted for him because of that poop-for-brains Palin. I don't know what they were thinking. No way were the base going to vote for Obama...McCain should have just been himself and then the election wouldn't have been so close.
- pintomp3, on 11/06/2008, -4/+19i think that's the point. his concession speech was classy, in stark contracts to his campaign.
- Ratteler, on 11/06/2008, -3/+17Stop licking it. You're supposed to watch and listen moron.
- pintomp3, on 11/06/2008, -0/+14seriously. all of a sudden obama isn't a secret muslim socialist who pals around with terrorists?
- pintomp3, on 11/06/2008, -0/+14i remember when he called people like jerry falwell "agents of intolerance". then he sold his soul to the fundamentalists in order to get the GOP base. the john mccain of 2000 might have even beat obama.
- ohiomama, on 11/06/2008, -3/+15enough with this *****. hopefully mccain's real speech is a sign that he will return to the man he once was.
- LuCiFer6, on 11/06/2008, -0/+11Exactly,
I was even wondering where "this" McCain was during the whole election run and I thought this race would have been tighter had "this" McCain had been the one running it.
But oh well I think the better candidate won. - daddymcguire, on 11/06/2008, -0/+11Agreed. I know they want to make a funny video, but that part was uncalled for.
- phroztbyt3, on 11/06/2008, -0/+11pretty damn funny. I am in no way offended, even if this was respectable. He wouldn't have videos like this if he didn't allow his campaign to create such propaganda around Obama. All is well, the people have spoken.
- Aadain, on 11/06/2008, -1/+12McCain made a very classy concession speech. McCain also ran an incredibly negative and unclassy campaign. Just look at how his crowd responded when he mentioned Obama's name. They booed him. Then compare the Obama crowds reaction to McCain's name. The cheered him and gave him respect. McCain/Palin did everything they could to promote division, hate, and negativity in their campaign and it came back to them. So while I'll always applaud McCain for going out classy, I won't forget all the months before then. Never forget.
- tinkafoo, on 11/06/2008, -1/+11Booker T. Washington!
ROFLTOWN. - asurroca, on 11/06/2008, -0/+10I suspect, and I hope, that we might get the old moderate McCain back now that the election cycle has passed. Fingers crossed.
- Thuktun, on 11/06/2008, -2/+10He might have gotten farther had he done that during the rest of the race, like he had said he would.
- katierosekills, on 11/06/2008, -0/+8His speech wasn't bitter, but his supporters were. I wanted so badly to go drive to the Biltmore and hand out Kleenex.
- zaffir, on 11/06/2008, -0/+8In a way I'm glad that the McCain of 2000 was not running against Obama- it made the choice between the two MUCH easier.
- aywwts4, on 11/06/2008, -2/+9McCain transformed into something I didn't recognized the seccond he became the presumptive nominee, and then immediately after Obama was declared president elect the hold was broken and McCain went back to being who he was, the speech was great, it's like he wasn't allowed to be himself during the whole campaign.
- inactive, on 11/06/2008, -1/+8Here's how you make McCain's concession speech epic:
http://www.youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2 ...
Watch the whole thing. - inactive, on 11/06/2008, -11/+17My creator Booker T Washington says this started off slow, but turned hilarious near the end.
- wreckosaurus, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6Well, I was 17, and he didn't make it to the general election, so no. But if I was a year older and it was McCain v Gore I would have voted McCain.
- diggtochina, on 11/06/2008, -21/+27awesome
- asskey, on 11/06/2008, -2/+8Or a certain Gore...
- ironhide, on 11/06/2008, -1/+7From one of your own comments - "***** DUMBASS Obama. ***** him and the obamabots. Lets see how you feel about da brother in 2 years"
Your hypocrisy is showing. - p3ngwin, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6and the ROBO-CALLING?
wtf?- how is that even legal in America? it's tantamount to unsolicited libelous slander! - inactive, on 11/06/2008, -1/+7It really was an awesome speech.
Still a funny video though. - markmdillon, on 11/06/2008, -4/+10Seriously. McCain actually hurt you that much. “Never Forget”???
I've never felt more sorry for someone than I feel for you right now. - feezus, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6I really wish he would start referring to her as the Borg Queen.
