- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -12/+204or should say "i wanted to make my car uglier so i bought this sticker"
- IamZed, on 03/16/2008, -1/+163My favorite is "I Support Whatever's Trendy"

The men are generally overseas for 7 to 15 months. It's not unusual for the women to write the names of their loved ones on the stickers.
In other parts of the country, the stickers often are on the cars of the soldiers' parents and other family members.
While yes, there are too many "couch potato" patriots in this nation, keep in mind that for some families, those stickers are not an "empty gesture." - OutThisLife, on 03/16/2008, -14/+140
- mentallyinhell, on 03/16/2008, -6/+77Perfect way to support something without ever having to get up off your fat ass and doing something about it.
- spnce, on 03/16/2008, -3/+60needs a "Made in China"
- jon30041, on 03/16/2008, -2/+57I call *****. Source?
- SeaweedWater, on 03/16/2008, -1/+55Wait a minute, those were to support cancer?
Cancer, you sneaky bastard. - PorkFat, on 03/16/2008, -2/+56I always wanted to make a "Support our troops - join the Army" ribbon
- renatoc8, on 03/16/2008, -0/+50Agreed.
- Ranvier, on 03/16/2008, -7/+56You know what's even more hilarious? Those ribbons are ***** magnets. They aren't even willing to put a bumper sticker on because it's too hard to remove. Yes, magnets work nicely, show your committed, but not too committed, I mean, those stickers are hard to get off!
- gridbread, on 03/16/2008, -4/+50Dugg because I hate those things.
- affanjam, on 03/16/2008, -0/+43I feel as though your comment has no depth.
- glory, on 03/16/2008, -6/+44no, it's because damaging someone's property is lame.
- axcess99, on 03/16/2008, -0/+35what are you talking about? he clearly cited every statement.
- GalacticRerun, on 03/16/2008, -3/+38Reminds me of my beloved Trendwhore bracelet. I loved it when people asked me what charity I supported with my bright greenness.
- reva, on 03/16/2008, -1/+34there's already one out there that says "I support the guy in China who sells these idiotic magnets:
http://www.antimagnet.com/ - rreadysetno, on 03/16/2008, -0/+32tl;dr
- jaymzx, on 03/16/2008, -3/+34It should read "Makes me feel better about filling up my SUV"
...but I doubt there's enough space on there. They could make the ribbon bigger, to match the bigger SUV. - ledguitar, on 03/16/2008, -2/+28Just like those livestrong bracelets from a few years back. No one bought them because they thought "I should help support cancer research". People bought them to look cool.
It ruined it for the people who actually did want to support cancer because it seemed like they were just following the trend. - haterrade, on 03/16/2008, -0/+24smartest comment i've ever read
- bobh1234, on 03/16/2008, -2/+26Reminds me of the Garfield craze and "Baby on board" craze. Those were stupid too.
- piratearggghhh, on 03/16/2008, -4/+27"I support our troops by buying stickers" and "None of this sticker money went to our troops"
- billymeade, on 03/16/2008, -6/+28Ummm... you go ahead and keep on believing that. Nowhere on it does it say where the money is going. Just because the chain-smoker behind the Walgreens counter told you it was for armor doesn't mean it is :)
- hungryduck, on 03/16/2008, -0/+22Wow. That's really open-ended.
- d03boy, on 03/16/2008, -2/+23pretty sure the $ used to pay for these do not go to charity
- Crossmenjeff, on 03/16/2008, -2/+23its a Jesus Fish, how am i the only one that sees it?
- phantom_mullet, on 03/16/2008, -6/+26MrBabyMan, are you seriously unoriginal enough to just resubmit stuff from reddit's front page? Apparently not.

- lohphat, on 03/16/2008, -1/+19China.
- DaviDTC, on 03/16/2008, -0/+18Reddit should submit something about "mrbabyman resubmitting stuff to digg". Then see if mrbabyman will resubmit that story of him "resubmitting reddit stuff to digg", to digg.
wow. I change that up about 8 times to try and make it easy to understand... - aliengoods, on 03/16/2008, -8/+25As opposed to you, one who is filled with logic, reason, and social eloquence.
- SantaPlausible, on 03/16/2008, -4/+20"Empty Gesture" is a great idea, I think. The two I am too lazy to have made are "Support the Agenda" and "Hooray for War". Maybe someday...
- alex, on 03/16/2008, -3/+18Where can I buy one?
- Locke23, on 03/16/2008, -2/+17Out of all the drivers out there, there must only exist a handful who drove behind this car and actually understood that sticker
- CYR1X, on 03/16/2008, -5/+20*gasp* Other people realize most charities aren't all that there cracked up to be?
Random Digg User: But, but, there giving money to help cancer!
Me: But they take 20% profit... - hurt911gen, on 03/16/2008, -0/+15or "I support more troops than you"
- MattB123, on 03/16/2008, -0/+14But even when people wore the Live Strong bracelets for empty reasons, they gave a dollar to the cause. So they did support the fight against cancer even if they just thought they were being cool.
- LadyDub, on 03/16/2008, -0/+14Support Boobies!
- Harbinger67, on 03/16/2008, -5/+19I don't give a ***** what their bumper says, vandalism is never cool.
- michaelb1, on 03/16/2008, -0/+13Don't take it personally. It's just that most people that buy these "support" you in words only. They don't send care packages, they don't give to soldier/sailor/airmen charities. They also don't always vote fpr pro-soldier politicians. By that I mean politicians that vote to increase pay, increase time between deployments to Iraq, increase VA funds etc.
It IS an empty gesture. It's jingoistic FAKE patriotism.
Buying a $.99 sticker MADE IN CHINA DOESN't make you a patriot. Actually helping people like you does. Actually helping America does.
These people's hearts might be in the right place, I think they just need to think a little harder about it. - geneticlemon, on 03/17/2008, -1/+14Yeah, you're right. We should just kill all humans.
- arTech, on 03/17/2008, -0/+13Hey I'm a soldier too and I think they are empty gestures.
- jonmlm, on 03/16/2008, -4/+16sigh... do we really have to explain how it's currently an empty gesture?
- hurt911gen, on 03/16/2008, -3/+15The fail is so much Al gore will have to re-build the intranet.
- funk1999, on 03/16/2008, -2/+14Support the Magnetic Ribbon Industry
http://www.sivacracy.net/archives/prefab-support-i ... - archer104, on 03/16/2008, -0/+12"If anyone says they hate war more than I do, they better have a knife that's all I gotta say."
-Jack Handey - Memitim, on 03/17/2008, -1/+13Aw, poor delicate thing. Next time you hit the armory you might want to get your purse strap adjusted.
- haterrade, on 03/16/2008, -0/+12exactly
if being trendy is the only way to get people to support a cause, so be it, i'd rather have people thinking they're cool atleast supporting a cause than something else -
