- eliburford, on 08/26/2008, -3/+21Good news, everyone!
- Zeonick, on 08/26/2008, -2/+19I'm pretty sure this is mocking the "Butterfly Effect" story by the Washington Post we saw on Digg a few days ago. Although it's pretty lame if you don't get the reference.
Butterfly Story: http://digg.com/odd_stuff/The_Butterfly_Effect_A_m ... - FrEaK40, on 08/26/2008, -12/+25What. The. *****.
Buried. - SRSco, on 08/26/2008, -2/+11Okay, I've seen a lot of people whining because this hit the front page. I dugg this story because it reminded me of my own grandparents. Not all satire needs to be LOL funny. I snickered a little bit, but then I thought about the plight of my poor lonely grandparents and their simple pleasures. It makes a good point, and it's spot on, so its good satire. I stand by my Digg.
- farfromsubtl, on 08/26/2008, -1/+10OH NOEWS!
SUBJECTIVE OPINIONS ON TEH INTERNEZ?! - fefu, on 08/26/2008, -2/+11I think all of you who are complaining just don't like subtle humor.
- Hodor, on 08/26/2008, -3/+11but, but.. hummingbirds are awesome!!!
- oxdeltaxo, on 08/26/2008, -8/+15Slow news day anyone?
- rainmandane, on 08/26/2008, -3/+9Too bad there are no serious articles about loneliness and the joys of everyday life.
Would rather read this than mind-numbingly repetitive stories of political trivialities (i.e. whether or not Bill Clinton felt offended that his DNC speech topic was about foreign policy instead of economic policy). - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -1/+7Satire doesn't always have to be ROTFLMAO-funny. Sometimes subtlety is key. And last I checked, if you didn't like it, you could bury it and stfu.
- jasgeo, on 08/26/2008, -2/+7There is no hummingbird, grandma has gone senile.
- CourtesyFlush, on 08/26/2008, -1/+5This one will separate the kids from the adults.....
- JadeLotus420, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4To you I say, thank you. I am a live in caregiver for my grandma and grandpa and one of the things i enjoy most in the summer is to sit with them early in the morning and talk while we watch all the fauna, including hummingbirds. It's the only time i really see them happy and the only time they don't think about the daily pain they have to live with.
- kraftj, on 08/26/2008, -1/+4I wonder where they got the sweet picture of Grandma peeking out the window. Did they take that? That's not stock photography, is it?
- antdude, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Yay for Poppy!
- Ductapemaster, on 08/26/2008, -1/+4Ugh, you guys are idiots...it's making fun of that butterfly story from the other day...
- TTSkipper, on 08/26/2008, -1/+3Digg maybe you want to change your algorithm to weed out lots of Diggs from account names which are just the same name twice, since they are obviously either paid Diggers or robots.
- thielen24, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2Exactly. Reminds me of my grandparents. They had many bird friends though...
- fmorel90, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2satire of the article about the guy with a butterfly who lived at his house.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2@xtothepowerofx
Wow what a mature and meaningful comment! Are you in middle school, or high school? I don't think I need to point how you're getting buried, meaning you're opinion is worth about as much as dog *****. - randf, on 08/26/2008, -1/+3but what about the children....of the...hummingbirds?
- Loadedforbear, on 08/26/2008, -1/+3Kind of sad actually, I guess I'll call gamma on lunch.
- randf, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2you said the "f" word. burying you to hell!
- Niubai, on 08/26/2008, -1/+2I feel sad for grandma, she must be very alone right now. Grandpa died and her parents can't even remember her birthday ... sad history.
- JadeLotus420, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Completely right my friend. Fake or not I think people should pay more attention not only to our elderly but to mother nature as well. I bet all the people on here who buried this story could care less about if hummingbirds were to show up again next year but you really gotta think why. What could have happened to make them stay away, or worse, dissapear, and what else could it lead to? People are way to caught up in the "political" affairs in this country even though we have no real bearing on what goes on. Take time to stop and smell the roses or go bird watching or even call your mom or grandma, it'll do you good and you might find something out you never knew. Sorry for being so long winded.

- lapiak, on 08/26/2008, -3/+0For someone new to Digg and seeing "news" like this is hilarious. Good for a first-time laugh. The second time, I'll be all cynical-like.
