Both hilarious sites, both funny casts, and an easy show to make fun of. But neither skit was especially funny.

Don't read into my comment more than it is just to try and belittle me and make yourself some witty digg intellect who is far above Wikipedia to consider it could possibly contain any merit. Are citations not good enough for you?
My comment was just to inform that the show is based upon a successful actors (don't even start saying he's not successful Wahlberg has made millions) experiences. - Mujokan, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1They talk about it a lot on the DVD extras. Johnny Drama is based on a real guy from Wahlberg's entourage, as is Turtle. Eric I'm not so sure about.
Marky Mark himself they had a lot of trouble casting. (They were going to use guys from Boston not NYC at one point.) Steve Levinson represented Adrian Grenier and convinced everyone to use him. Then they rewrote the pilot to fit him. The whole show became a lot more mellow as a result.
It is very much based on all that crew's experiences in Hollywood (Kevin Connolly was already in that clique), along of course with the related experiences of Doug Ellin and the other core writers who have been there for years. Larry Charles also put his experiences into the first season. It is not so much directly a version of Wahlberg's exact life.
