- Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+79I can pretty much guarantee you that nobody is going to look it up.
- kuj007, on 10/12/2007, -3/+69Is your mustache the source of your knowledge?
- mutabi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+47Professors are so much more laid back compared to high school/secondary school teachers. I think even the college atmosphere gets to them too!
- superguysteve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+45But you went to clown college...
- waynechng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41In my college experience, the extraordinary professors loved to have a laugh in class, the crappy ones didn't ...
- azzageddi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39Wow, my comments are never that funny. Best one I received, from a student in Japan, was something like "Suggestions for improving the class: Please lose your weight. I am worried for your health." And this is when I was only about 2-3kg overweight. (It worked, though--after I stopped laughing, I joined a gym. Of course, I was already planning to do that anyway.)
I'll probably start getting the baldy comments in a couple years, though. - Peach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36I love that the prof took it so well. It's nice when your professors act like real human beings with a sense of humor.
- IggyPop, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Like watching Indian Die Hard.
- CornMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21direct link to the good stuff.

- djepik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18He's right, Their motto is (translated from latin of course) "Our teachers are hardasses. Or students are pompous pricks"
- twertyto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Here is the professor.
http://www.ntu.edu.sg/eee/eee1/cv/elkgoel.htm - falstaff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8My German class had a student teacher that wanted feedback on one of these forms, the prompts were in the form, "I wish my teacher would keep ___" but the best one was "I wish my teacher would stop ____." A friend put 'breathing.' I can imagine some teachers get reamed pretty hard in anonymous feedback.
- fiver22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8would that All profs. were half as interresting. This guy Rocks. Smart, funny, and educational. He deserves respect.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The prof speaks better english than you. Actually most non-native english speakers speak better than native english speakers.
- zevgreen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I wish I could see his mustache! Although, from what it seems by the comments, it may be like the ark of the covenant in Indiana Jones. Look away Marian!!!
- fibonacci1123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is the best comment:
It's your mustache the source of your knowledge? If it is, then please don't set so difficult questions, because most of us don't have mustache - KMye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Of course a lot of them are laid back; they're college kids who never left.
- JaytB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6You can laugh with this guy all you want but I found it a brilliant move as a teacher. Make fun of yourself so people don't care making fun of you anymore. It's called reverse psychology and very strong in teaching. I've been a professional business software trainer for about 7years and although I luckily never had to go that far I've used similar things to get people to focus on what you have to say.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You can see it, it's in the first 2 mins of the video.
- MrVisible, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Teaching is not all about brilliance. You can be absolutely amazing in your field of study, and not be able to teach worth a damn. Excellence in teaching has a lot to do with knowing your material well, but it also involves social skills, an understanding of your students, and an ability to convey the material in a way that not only makes sense but is easy to remember. In many ways, it's related to theatre.
The professor here just made his students much more likely to attend the class, hoping to see some more fun stuff, and therefore much more likely to succeed. Also, he made sure the class knew he was an accessible person with a sense of humor, making them more likely to approach him with issues. It was a masterful piece of teaching, wholly unrelated to the subject at hand.
I'd trade a great teacher who understood their subject at a competent level for someone brilliant in their field but who was unable to teach well any day. And I've had both, just last semester. - Tredici, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love the random insertion of "cos θ = 1?" in one of the comments.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10The NTU is MASSIVE. One of the largest universities I have ever seen.
- sweetthing411, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3LOL that teacher sounds like a real character...even at the beginning...damn those forms!
- Shenaniganz08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha wow so much for them being confidential :D
- redfox2600, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Go to 20 seconds into the video
- porta3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That WAS hilarious. "Please switch to semi-automatic" (!) That teacher is as funny as his students... some of whom should go into comedy writing.
- darkein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, that was so great!!! I need to do that on my next survey.
- isubeatle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4if only i had known about the mustache back in college. i would have improved my grades in about 4 days.
- KMye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He seemed supercool until I realized he was going right back into lecture work after taht, at which point he became somewhat cool. That's last day stuff, or the very least, end of day stuff, no?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10Defiantly worth the whole watch. It gets really ***** funny half way in.
- TechLaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He is an Indian Bruce Willis.
- toonarmy88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Woh! loads of comments there. A lot of the comments had the same hand writing maybe some are fake.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS...watch this video, very funny comments.
- masskurec, on 03/03/2009, -0/+0i've seen more hilarious than this
http://xptweak.net - artificialhero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"In my college experience, the extraordinary professors loved to have a laugh in class, the crappy ones didn't ..."
I don't think you can equate brilliance with a laid back attitude. Sure, a lot of amazing professors also like to have a laugh, but I've had my share of lecturers who, while brilliant, are also *****. - hobbers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Um, as best I recall, most of my classes from college did professor reviews 1 or 2 weeks before the end of the semester/quarter. So I'm pretty sure they still had an exam to look forward to after this.
One thing I found interesting about this video is that even though the university was located in Singapore, you couldn't tell from the laughter. The group laughter sounded the same as any group laughter I've heard in the United States. Laughing has no accent. - madoxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2haha "you speak like an M16 on automatic, please switch to semi-automatic" lmao
- artgon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I had a prof that did something similar... I wish I had taped it because I'm sure it was equally as funny.
- crossers, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0oh it was just comedy-club. so funny!

- igotdugout, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3That wasn't funny. Jokes were about his baldness or his moustache, and they're just redundant.
I guess these jokes are for people who make computer or math jokes. - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5good for you
- djepik, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1whoops
- ohcoaster, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1Mostly mustache baldness you look sexy jokes, stopped being funny quick. All the handwriting looked like the same person wrote them all. Someone who's first language maybe isn't english... someone like the teacher...
