- VeryAngryJim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41I've always wondered that myself. I enjoy watching F1 yet most of the idiots here in america prefer watching their superhero rednecks drive in a circle.
- taitacakes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20These three people above me are very sad indeed.
Missing out on a hero here. - ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20The last thing we need in F1 is more American influence.

:-) I can not image that somebody dont know who is Michael Schumacher :-) You are probably from USA :-)
7 time Formula 1 world champion :-) - ediPG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Why people in USA do not like F1 and why F1 is not so popular in USA?
- twister6284, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Be Michael Schumacher, get free gas.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13They played the first one on Speed during qualifying last week.. Pretty funny...
- infinitespecter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10He already has reached that mark. He has been the top paid athlete in the world for several years now, bringing in a peak of over $80 million a year. In fact, in the next year, he will make over $24 million from endorsements alone.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Isn't NASCAR always on speed? *grumble*

You could wiki or answers.com him for more info. - zengame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I found two more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLx9woHLePY - karmarhino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Whether or not the video was part of a viral marketing campaign, it's entertaining nonetheless.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Gotta love Schumi, though I've not been near the fan of F1 since they've continued to add all the restrictions that they have to it. V8's have NO place in the pinnacle of racing.
- joeydoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because V10's are better. ;)
They crippled the cars by making them use V8''s. Sure they spin up to 22,000rpm but it's still the wrong direction to take the sport.
Didn't they used to be V12's a few years ago?
They should be going faster not slower. It's not like the sport isn't safe. In the last decade, for the speeds at play, it's most certainly THE safest. - berberine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5f1 is not popular in the USA because they don't have a major contract with a major TV station. NASCAR, which sucks, is advertised all the time. You can't even find the F1 results in most newspapers the next day.
F1 airs at 730am for most of the races, depending of course on which time zone the race is in. I live on the East Coast. If I lived on the West Coast, the races would start at 430am. I used to watch all the races. Now, I don't watch the Australian, Japanese and Chinese grand prix because they come on at some horrible time like 1am.
F1 also airs on the SPEED channel (I hate the announcers but that's another can of worms for another time). Every place I have lived, SPEED is on the digital tier of television so you have to pay more for it. SPEED also isn't on every cable company's list of channels it carrys. When the few races per year that are aired on CBS (a major station in the USA), they are time delayed by about five hours. The announcers on CBS are horrible and don't really know what's going on. One of them is also a Michael Schumacher fanboy so that's all you hear about. Schumi isn't my favorite driver so it annoys the crap out of me.
So, take no advertisement for the race, difficult to find race results (unless you're online but then you're already a fan looking for them), really early Sunday mornings to watch the races, and you've got yourself the makings of no one knowing anything about F1. It's a shame too because I enjoy F1. I cannot stand NASCAR but the rest of my family watches NASCAR mainly because of the time of day it's on. I tried to get them into it but none of them want to get up that early on a Sunday. - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If anyone needed that to understand what this is about, you are shielded indeed!

Youtube link if the video on automotosport doesn't work for you. (never works for me) - uncontested, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"pursed-lipped smug prick" I think you might have a mirror too close to your computer, it seems you've been confused by it.
- pen25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2to answer why f1 isnt popular in the us is cause the majority of the races are over seas and means midnight or 1am showings or 6am showings unless you want to watch a race already over. I myself stay up and have been known to take a day off work to watch a race.
id have to say senna is famous for one cause of his death for 2 cause he was awesome. he and shue is very comprable as far as racers. and i enjoyed watching them both race and was saddened when senna died. you will see another racer be just as good or better then shue. since they have more races now then 10 years ago the racers will find it easier to get the poles and what not. one other thing is f1 is trying to make racing less dominated by a single team so its going to be difficult to get the wins he got. - Graphixaddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2lol, dont you know, that as Americans we are no longer able to decide what we like and what we don't? It is decided for us by multi billion dollar ad campaigns! Thats why our favorite beers taste like cat piss. We have no style, because gap and abercrombie tell us what to wear. We rely on the consistency of food made from plastic cause at least i know a big mac is going to be the same POS no matter where we go!
sad.
grfx - slowbo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Why?...The V8 bit I mean.
- doctorvee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That is lame. Support somebody for a good reason, not just because they win all the time.
- wreckingcru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was actually laughing and grinning out aloud watching these clips!! Brilliant...
Schumi will be missed... - ChefNick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That is fantastic. Good on him!
What a surprise for all the customers. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it was sort of shown during commercial breaks last saturday during qualifying... the announcers introduced it before going to break as part of their qualifying/speculation show..
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Senna is pretty famous as well.
- trev0006, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1And since Shumi has been racing bikes the prank is on him, he crashed his bike in the very first race. http://www.dpccars.com/motorcycle/motorcycle-video ... http://www.discountpartcenter.com/
- 0004, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2WOW.. Great ad ideas... even if they are advertisements, they're great fun

- sentai, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0http://www.le9.info Nice
- tim04, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1because watching cars driving around the same track hundreds of times is mind numbing. Agreed, F1 is slightly better than NASCAR, but America can only take one of these damn "sports"
- gorivo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0very funny xD
- anonym41414, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1There's nothing "hidden camera" about this. It's a viral marketing video. You're being marketed to, and you don't even realize it.
- swankboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This video is stupid. It's not even remotely amusing. Besides while I respect Schumacher as a winner, he's a pursed-lipped smug prick. Glad to see him gone.
- riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I am not a fan of F1.. but I watch it ONLY when Schumacher is racing. He always wins (well, most of the times).. so it is more fun when you are cheering for a winning team.. crew.. car..
Just like Tiger Woods. -
