- lex0nyc, on 07/04/2009, -3/+10Misspell "WalMart" and watch them get all uppity.
- DoodleMaster, on 07/05/2009, -2/+7So I was going to write the full story of what happened, but I thought it would bore you guys, but to make a long story short, I've witnessed a Walmart employee mopping a parking lot, when the manager instructed him to clean a spill that was in door way that had run out into the parking lot.
- caseycoold, on 07/05/2009, -0/+4I think people are missing the Simpsons reference, but I digg it.
- impedance101, on 07/05/2009, -1/+5The one on the left can stay independent. On the other hand, the one on the right....
- elnerdo, on 07/05/2009, -1/+5Dude, 'nite' and 'lite' aren't real words in ANY country. What the hell are you on?
Anyway, if you're going to be a language elitist, sentences start with capital letters. "Americans" is a proper noun, and should be capitalized. Sentences like "lite is light" should end in periods. There should be a comma after "WAH WAH". After "too hard" there should be a period instead of a comma. "lets" should be the beginning of a new sentence, and it's spelled "let's". - realeskimopimp, on 07/05/2009, -2/+6I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say maybe the spelling was intentional?
But then I don't get to be hateful and isn't that much less enjoyable?
Why miss a chance to be condescending? - DirtyVicar, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3You might as well blame "l8r" and "LOL" on us imperialist Americans while you're at it.
- cersad, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2You mean Christma's.
- kawaiirobo, on 07/05/2009, -1/+3@DaryLintheDark, Wow, you not only managed to look like an elitist prick, you managed to get completely owned by one of the people you clam to be stupid. So let me ask you, what exactly does your foot taste like?
- BREZZZ, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2I can't wait for Valintimes Day or Chismas.
- BREZZZ, on 07/05/2009, -1/+3The added "U" and "RE" were done to appease the French and appear to have some class. There is absolutely no reason to add the "u" as it is not phonetic and is not fooling anybody into thinking you are classy.
- GregFD3S, on 07/05/2009, -4/+6Me fail English? That's unpossible.
- kawaiirobo, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1You still can't manage to capitalize the beginning of your sentences, thus nullifying all credibility in your argument. Even if you could mange to cobble together a proper sentence, I'd doubt you'd have anything intelligent to say aside from an air of bitter elitism that I find Ironic considering your from the country that's nothing more than America's cold ass attic. All insults aside, you are also judging an entire population who has been taught to spell words in such a manner from birth. I spell color without a U not because I chose to dumb it down, but because that's the accepted spelling where I live and how I was taught. It's moronic and bigoted to judge an entire population for doing nothing more than accepting what they've known for their whole lives. No, I am not making any excuses for the dumb asses that miss spelled Independence, that is retarded, but it's also just as bad to assume all Americans would have done the same.
Just for credibility's sake, said words have been spelled without the U in Websters Dictionary since1855, so exactly how can you hold that against our modern generation? - moliver21, on 07/05/2009, -2/+3Grammar Police! Hooo!!
- jriggs, on 07/05/2009, -1/+2how do you explain the apostrophe then?
- elnerdo, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1It's a day belonging to Independents.
- skidork, on 07/04/2009, -4/+4Really? I'm more of a democrat! But that's every day of the year.
- DaryLintheDark, on 07/05/2009, -5/+5"Picture taken where I work. To have a spelling error like this is just embarrassing."
Embarassing because of the spelling error? Or because this sort of error is pretty much commonplace in the US nowadays?
the inability to distinguish between your and you're is a good example of this. - DaryLintheDark, on 07/05/2009, -1/+1well you see, i only capitalize proper nouns when i respect the thing being named (eg. america, god, etc...)
and if lite isn't a word (i will give you nite, even though i see americans spell it that way all the time), then how come it's recognized by my u.s. region spell check?
and i obviously was not going for proper sentence structure in my previous post, just as i'm not doing it now, but at least i can spell things correctly.
"u" and "re" were done to appease the French? who the ***** are you kidding? what does proper spelling have to do with being classy? - COINTELPROAgent, on 07/04/2009, -8/+8Maybe it isn't a spelling error, but a Libertarian being an ass.
- kawaiirobo, on 07/05/2009, -1/+1So, what your saying is Americans are stupid for not spelling things correctly, because we choose to not include U's in certain words, yet you feel you are entitled to the privilege to not capitalize proper nouns? You sir are probably the most pathetic person I've had the displeasure to read comments from on digg, and considering the kind of posts I see on here each day, that's saying a whole hell of a lot. Seriously, try pulling your head out of your ass for once, and admit that you are just a bitter ass hole with nothing better to do than insult people you've never met, just because you have a bigoted bias against the country that kicked your sorry limey ass over 200 years ago. Not to mention your food tastes like bird vomit.
- elnerdo, on 07/05/2009, -2/+2I agree. I feel like this might be totally intentional.
- DaryLintheDark, on 07/06/2009, -1/+1uhhh dude, i'm Canadian, and last time i checked, when you guys tried to invade us, we kicked your sorry asses.
and yes, i'm saying americans are stupid for not spelling things correctly. spelling is something extremely basic that is learned since grade school, yet they cant do it. seems to me that "INDEPENDENCE day" is pretty much the most important civic holiday for the u.s. next to thanksgiving and the superbowl, yet apparently some of your moron compatriots can't even spell that right.
i suppose you could say that i'm entitled to not capitalize proper nouns, because i'm fully aware that i'm doing it and it is also done with purpose. are you telling me that there's purpose to misspelling, or dumbing down already simple words? other than to make a dumb population feel a bit less stupid i don't see anything.
as far as i'm concerned, the only bitter person here is the one trying to defend poor education and a bastardization of the english language. - DaryLintheDark, on 07/05/2009, -4/+2or Tanktunker, languages get butchered by idiots, or americans as they are often known.
flavor is spelled flavour
color is colour.
nite is night
lite is light
"WAH WAH we're americans, adding the U into words to spell them correctly is too hard, silent letters are too hard, lets change it so we feel less stupid." - Newsdude, on 07/05/2009, -4/+2Definitely Trailer Park Gals
- Tanktunker, on 07/05/2009, -6/+1Wah wah I am incapable of accepting that with time, languages change and evolve.
- JanSimpson, on 07/05/2009, -7/+1Aww - they have passion but if you don't put together banners everyday -it is tough - good for them -
