- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+82Why was it never released nationally?
Probably because the GAP didn't want customers to think it's ok to trash their stores. - bleedingcyan, on 10/12/2007, -10/+81as much as i generally dislike the gap, that was a neat commercial
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+64Even though jetsetter883 is getting dugg down, he has a point. GAP probably never aired it because it didnt represent their "image". Imagine the black silhouettes in iPod Commercials trashing and destroying their 5G iPods with a message at the end saying "The new iPod is coming". Not quite Apple's style, right?
Neat commercial though, even though i wouldn't have done it if i was in charge of GAP's marketing. - molsen311, on 10/12/2007, -8/+56how is this genius??? it's entertaining, yes, but this is far from *genius*
- pmuse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+50The commercial was a local one used to advertise a GAP that was undergoing remodeling. It wouldn't have made sense to release it nationally.
- CaseyUCF, on 10/12/2007, -12/+57it's a commercial you *****. get a grip.
- alecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41What I don't understand is how they pay for a commercial like this to be made, only to figure out it won't work afterwards.... do they not have storyboards or are their imaginations so bad they need to see the final thing in order to decide.

Just and FYI This commercial was NOT failed. The reason GAP didn't release it nationally is because only 2 markets were actually remodeled. San Diego and Denver were the only 2 areas to see this commercial as they were the only store remodeled to the new format" - Bonez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Aah the joys of destruction....How I would love to be a extra in that commercial.
- datsclark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Screw being an extra, I'd love to be the minivan stunt driver.
- McSly, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19This commercial is from last year and won a bronze award at the Cannes advertising festival in June 2006 so it was definitely broadcasted.

- ampledismantle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14It sure beats "Peace, Love & Gap". Let me tell you, there is nothing more hip hop than GAP.
- ericnmu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13or because it is for select markets
- WolfwoodX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14digg down
- BlakeEM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This is true, I remember seeing this years ago, I live in San Diego.
- Lanamia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They did air this commercial in most major markets. It was made a year or so ago and released prior to the nationwide remodels. No one ran out to the Gap to destroy it. I think it just didn't do anything to encourage post-remodel sales so they stopped running the ads in favor of the celebrity based ads that they used to try to revamp their image.
Clearly, both ads campaigns are failures because people on digg don't shop at the Gap. Like you guys are the target market. - j2d2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This is more than a year old, actually.
- psients, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's long and destructive. Yay.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7All the money and production they put into that commercial was for one store? The poster said that Spike Jonze directed it. If he's right, I don't see the company putting all that money into a commercial for the Gap, Seymour, Indiana.
- korimickster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Is there proof that Spike Jonze did this? I have never heard of it.
For those of you unaware of his work, check out his DVD. Dude is brilliant.

- widman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Oh Digg, when will you have a special section for virals and ads.
- ray023, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This commercial made as much as sense as an Adam Sandler movie.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4For the love of God, diggers...STOP digging any submission with the annoying, and juvenile GREATEST (insert medium) EVER hyperbole in hthe title. If you keep feeding the kiddies, they'll never go away.
Maybe Dugg needs a new category called GREATEST EVER. - lordsandwich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Exactly. I remember seeing this aired a few years ago.
- h3ndrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Surgeon General's Warning: Discussing a commercial to this extent cannot be healthy.
- jtavo100, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When was this made?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Flawless Victory.
- wepeel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yes, this is Spike Jonze. There's a couple other commercials from him on this site, as well as a lot more goodies from other directors
http://www.mjz.com - splatterboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Methinks Spike has been hanging out with Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass boys too much.
- ModernGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No, they don't want you to FIND OUT that it IS OK to trash their stores :) *smashes mannequin*
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Mike Jones would be a better commercial maker than this guy.
- shatters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@EXreaction
CAP = Communist and Proud! - fronta1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2they prolly dont want people thinkin their stores are notoriously dusty
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Was not expecting the soccer mom to drive through the front door.
- N080dy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who? Spike Jonze!
- funkspiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1slow news day? I didn't care for this when I saw it 11 months ago.
- ngower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone know what song that is? I've never known and it's killing me
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I don't get it, but I liked it anyway.
- norle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg down for lameness...
- DrGamez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know Penn & Teller did a *****! episode on "The Best". It's pretty good and your comment really reminded me of it.
- cycledesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw this in LA too though, many times.
- shelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That explains it. I'm in SD and we saw this ad every time we went to the movie theater. Though...I don't see that much of a difference in the "new" Gap stores...except they've dimmed the lights a little and turned up the music WAY too loud, a la (blech) Abercrombie.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, but it failed.
- DarkwingDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good ad for the anti-capitalists that... something they've wanted to do for a long long time.
- Virgule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1totally suck
i would not have approve that either - contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That commercially totally had a slight Jackass feel to it, which I approve of.
- scrambled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Whoever came up with "Peace Love and Gap" is an asshat
I can't stand that comercial - EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Are you saying there is something wrong with being gay?
(not that I am, I just hate people who use the word gay and don't really understand what they are saying, kinda like people bitching about communism just because some communist countries are screwed up) -
