- dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37This man is a genius.
- PostalBean, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28He's definately a lot smarter than Bush.
- rickytan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I'm sure he knows exactly where to draw the line, he just chooses not to. Why should he give a ***** who he offends? He's got his audience and they're all aware of his views...so if they don't like him, they don't have to watch him.
69 years old and still hilarious, good for him. - PostalBean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately." - George Carlin
- gonzo1773, on 10/12/2007, -7/+25George Carlin for PRESIDENT!!!
Hell, Id vote for him. Wouldn't you? - Yage2006, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Hongy_r
"im getting sick of people telling me how stupid and small minded i am because i believe there is something larger than myself."
Maybe you get the ***** over too many things, Maybe perhaps you shat out your brains one day.
There is a ton of stuff bigger then you that you can believe in besides ***** religion
George Carlin Is awesome. - KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17that entire show was good.
- mdavis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"HE LOVES YOU! HE LOVES YOU AND HE NEEDS MONEY!!!!!!"
- Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"Thou shalt keep thy religion to thy self"
Thank science someone said it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13"your neighbor just got a vibrator that plays 'oh come all ye faithful' ..."
I think i almost peed my pants with that line...
The rest if funny too, although i think a bit less so considering how serious some of the points he's making are. - standalonematt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16@chrisadd:
Reminds me of RIchard Dawkins to paraphrase .... Muslims, Christians, Jews are atheists towards every god but their own, I just take it one further.
When the basis of your religion is we are right and everyone is wrong ... an automatic bashing of other belief systems, with permission to commit violence - and then to say that others can't criticize your beliefs - I believe that about fits the definition of hypocracy.
In other words, don't complain when people say your beliefs are *****, when you believe (and push a book) that says that all other beliefs are *****.
I don't think most of us non-theists want you to give up on your faith. Just stop forcing it on our lives. Stop trying to get it taught in schools, stop trying to make it the basis of our laws, stop citing things as "biblical evidence" as that is all you need, stop coming to my door - if I was hopeless and wanted what you are selling, I will call you. - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14You do realize that this is his comedy show and people pay and go there because they do want to hear his opinions about this stuff, right?
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14For those who want to see more of the show, here's George Carlin talking about god and religion:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzHlMs2rSIM
I love the "but he loves you" part... - steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13"good taste'?
Religious violence and pushy rhetoric isn't in good taste!
I'll live by the law of the land but not by extra biblical laws mere humans made up to control a population. - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12No *****! I thought he was the Messiah.
- wheremyarm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Why is bashing religion ignorant? It's no different than bashing any other provably stupid idea.
- Clob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13LOL... George is the best. Ive been watching him since I was knee high! George is my God and I live bye his code!!!
He has many other standups from the late 70's and every one of them are great! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13From ***** 12:
"Your god, your rules." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Then stop being stupid and small minded about it...?
- Pigeon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13And he does exactly that, puts religion in perspective, for the crap it _really_ is. While being funny at the same time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wA6IpfMUco - tigerdyr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Freedom of speech does not include prohibation for offending people. I'm not a religious man, but if I was, I would say to you that if you get offended by that, you don't have what they call faith.
- richiestang78, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Saw this on TV very funny standup from the genius, and whenever he talks about religion I love it. Id rather put my faith in him then the adult imaginary friend.
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9One of his best perfomances ever.
- logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10it's cool he's still one of the best if not the best comedians of all time(Pryor and him are debatable for top spot).
- standalonematt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Since when did non-belief in religion = religion.
Thats just like saying those that don't believe in science can create a belief that = science .... oh wait - minoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I believe in a lot of stuff bigger than myself. If fact, I don't think you can look into the sky and not realize just how small you are in the overall scheme of things. The difference is I just don't think the thing bigger than me is some all powerful invisible guy guiding all our lives.
- khedoros, on 07/31/2009, -1/+9The whole point of religion is that it's a matter of faith...not fact and evidence. I don't believe that science will ever disprove the Judeo-Christian conception of God. The interpretations of scripture will change to meet scientific reality. In short, the belief itself needs to be blind by definition. Research allows you not to claim something obviously wrong by empirical observation. But the debate between science and religion will always be around, since neither is an effective weapon against the other.
- Eleo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Well by that standard there are millions of people qualified to be president.
- blanski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This special was before 9/11 so I think he referred to the first WTC attack.
- alohamahalo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL6ULruYjNA
- Royal0rleans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Guys, he's not advocating Christianity, he's just pointing out what George said was incorrect. Still funny, but incorrect. All of Carlin's points still stand though.
- Jassman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@tnrich
I really ***** hope that you are just a troll. I suspect it with the "There are no atheists in foxholes..." comment. Please read the following open letter about atheists in foxholes (assuming you can read in spite of that ignorant ***** you are spitting out!):
http://penn.freefm.com/pages/27696.php
There will be no Judgment Day. Sorry to disappoint you.
I realize my comment is fairly harsh; I can deal with sensible religious people. But you do not fit that description. I am not going to tiptoe around the feelings of those who are not willing to do their own research (re: Atheists in Foxholes). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you'd bothered to read the letter, you'd find it was not written by Penn or Teller. Penn merely hosts it on his site.
It is a letter written by Gid White, a retired Army Master Sergeant.
On the subject of atheists and foxholes, I -- being a reasonable person -- will defer to someone who has actually been in a foxhole.
Perhaps you'll try reading something besides your bible before commenting next time? - volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I grew up modeling my life about this genius... The greatest living comedian in my opinion.
- Antha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Grow up BillyJoeCarlBobDannyFrank.
- logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4they have ten commandments/rules. They just didn't organize them in to a succinct list.
- alohamahalo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuHGntjDn_0
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@chrisadd: "The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "
Except if he's gay. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"no one has the right to go around labeling other peoples' beliefs as "*****"."
Except you, apparently.
'There are those who do not love their fellow man... and I *HATE* people like that.'
-Tom Lehrer - wuori, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Yeah, it takes true genius to make fun of religion.
- alohamahalo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3George Carlin - necrophilia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOMxgnmJT2s - sporefrog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Try researching before coming up with ideas, it helps you get those ideas right. The 10 commandments are not the only religious doctrine to dissuade murder, and they aren't even the first to do it.
- alohamahalo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Stuff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UtRSL4O_W4 - tuuky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Smug atheist guy: "God is not real because I think it is silly."
Digg: "Christianity just got pwned!!!"
You forgot to include:
Blind religious monkey: "You're all going to Hell. The Lord said: and that has been confirmed to me by the "spirit" so it must be true."
Religion was created by men out of fear of the unexplained. I don't understand how people don't see this. I guess if they believe in what Bush says, they'll believe anything they're told. - Panthro83, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sorry, but have to disagree - watching arrested development, both myself and housemates can't help but laugh out loud. Likewise found myself laughing out loud to this. At the end of the day it just depends what type of comedy you're into.
If you like this you may want to see this clip about God from Ricky Gervais standup, animals.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_EXqdJ4L7I - Punisher2K, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think it's fun when kids "discover" someone like Carlin. It's like Columbus discovering America.
- Halgy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Eschompthis, you no longer have the right to speak.
I'm not even saying the George Carlin is wrong, since he does make some good points. It's not the subject matter that upsets me, but the fanatisism with which Carlin makes them. No mater what the views, no one has the right to go around labeling other peoples' beliefs as "*****". I would not accept that from Christians (right eschompthis?); why should I from anyone else? - Eleo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wait no, but I pretty much said I didn't like this, and don't want to see more of it. I will stick to comedians that actually make me laugh.
