- thisisfunah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34translation: "you will need a nurse"
funnier in german though :) - Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20@consoneo:
You made it a 'lil longer than it had to be :)
Du = You
Werdest = Will
Eine = A (feminine)
Krankenschwester = Nurse (literally means Sick-Sister)
Brauchen = Need
The best thing about German is when you need a new word, you can generally just concatenate a bunch of existing words and have a legitimate word that everyone will understand. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Actually I'm digging for that Superman clip. Faster than a speeding bullet. :)
- mlkmnz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Good stuff. Man its almost easier making fun of Hitler than George Bush. One's a deluded lunatic with aspirations of world-wide domination, and the other has a stupid moustache....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I'm not so sure this is the 'best' Hitler moments, as much as it is the /only/ Hitler moments
- Indrek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13"Krankenschwester" means "nurse", "brauchen" means "need", and "du werdest" means "you're going to".
Just so you know.
Edit: treed beat me to it... - sceebacny, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Where is Futurama's Best of Zoidberg?
- PaulC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10This is more of a "best of Peter" moment, but i'm surprised they didn't include it since it features Hitler:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UKxHdkyvCwA - bntphoretwunny, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16or maybe you should be bitch slapped. douchebox.
- treed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Krankenschwester is nurse. It means literally "sick sister". Brauchen is need.
- tek1024, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7No, that would've been "diggity," natürlich. ;)
- davidro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Like when Sideshow Peter remembered the time he couldn't stop stepping into garden rakes.
- maledei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5("werdest" is actually wrong here. "wirst" would be the correct word.)
- bloqmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4when death comes to take peter because he claims hes dead on insurance forms. when death arrives at their house, he trips and hurts his ankle and cant go around killing people. so peter goes out and makes bets with his friends that he cant die (jumps off buildings, starts gunfights, etc) until death finds out, along with a lot of other people, that you cant die. death decides that peter has to show people that you can still die by causing a plane crash killing the cast of dawsons creek. the part you see is peter trying to get out of it on the plane phone with death.
i think it was on adult swim last week or something :) - rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ah. 2x06, Death is a Bitch.
- consoneo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11Krankenschwester Brauchen, those are some freaking huge words to mean Nurse. :P
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Those manatees sure do write some crazy stuff!
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3Yeah, if it was the best of Hitler moments it would have only been the last two clips in the compilation.
PS. Norm MacDonald rocks as Death. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah, Hitler. What about the Hitler references in the Simpsons? I only one I recall is when they cut a shot of an old hitler in south america with someone saluting him. Hitler is not amused and waives his hand dismissively.
- outbreakofevil, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Actually brauchen = to need. German has a different sentence structure than English.
- GunsForTheSun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@fauz
The Episode is Called Death is a Bitch.
Man, and now they're bringing back futurama too...awesome - corrianne, on 10/12/2007, -16/+18A digg in this case is a no-brainer. It's family guy, c'mon!
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"The best thing about German is when you need a new word, you can generally just concatenate a bunch of existing words and have a legitimate word that everyone will understand."
In English "soccer world master qualification game" = "Fussballweltmeisterschaftsqualifikationsspiel" in German. No seriously, that is a real word. Ich liebe Deutsch :^) - mjpatey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You mean by carrying them on for too long? That's part of what makes it funny!
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Which episode is that talkshow part from again?
- sohlemac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, werden is an irregular verb, isn't it?
- ka2err, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually "werdest" is wrong, it should be "wirst".
k2r - h1tm4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for those who wanna download it: http://weed69.4p.dr.ag/FAMILY.GUY.BEST.OF.HITLER.FLV.HtMl
- maledei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a subjunctive of the "werden"-passive. i've never heard it before, it seems that they have used an outdated dictionary.
google reveals that the most recent occasion where somebody actually used it is the Luther-Bible. - Neumann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know, that "Hitler" logo for the TV show was probably, like, the best bit of graphic design to come out of that show in its first run. Catchy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The other simpsons Hitler reference is the ep where Bart prank calls Australia (coreolis effect one) , one of his earlier calls was to Hitler who answered on his cell phone (cant remember what if anything was said)
- apu95, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lmao!! I always wanted to know what that phone number was!
213-Du-Werdest-Eine-Krankenschwester-Brauchen!!! - DoTheFandango, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This was a joke right?
- ka2err, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is very (maybe even more) difficult for a native speaker to explain:
The phrase "werdest" is either an auxiliary verb for subjunctive passive present like in
"I thought you were promoted [right at the very moment]".
Or it is auxiliary verb for future tense 1 as in "She told me you would be promoted [tomorrow morning]" or future tense 2 as in "She told me you would have been promoted [by tomomorrow morning]" (not: "She told me you would have been promoted [by tomorrow morning if you will not ***** it up]" - it should be "würdest" then.)
But I might be wrong and if my German teacher [read this | das lesen würde], she would probably kill me.
k2r - cabinboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with Cartman
- taboam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And the episode that had itchy and scratchy hitting him with mallets

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1yay, liberals and their hitler friends. alles klar?
- NtHammer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4yes, the three or four clips of hitler, where one of them was focused on superman being in hell, oh man, oh mn, i cant contain the laughter
- ButterBuddha, on 10/12/2007, -17/+15Diggy Diggy Diggy Diggy Diggy Diggy Diggy Diggy
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2love family guy... loooove family guy, so addicted
- oSiBo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4youbu bu bu bu bu
- ddales, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Ok, for all the knuckleheads claiming it means sick sister. Um, no it doesn't. That's a straight literal translation if you use the words seperately. Used as one word it means nurse, period. Since when does any translator translate literally?
- dizzledaking, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Family guy would be much funnier if they didn't kill the jokes.
- endgame, on 10/12/2007, -15/+9Family Guy is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen I put it right up there with Seinfeld.
I HEART Family Guy!!!! - gh02t, on 10/12/2007, -18/+9Family Guy = Digg
- Leakage, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1family guy is a terrible show
