- Kombaiyashii, on 10/19/2009, -1/+222Even though I'm English and that was a complete sucker punch, I have no sympathy for him. Most brits on holiday act like spoilt scum and treat the locals like *****.
This guys lucky they stopped it and tried to bring him round. If it had been the other way around, he'd probably jump on his head.
Maybe I'm being too harsh, perhaps this guy is just having a really bad night but I've gotten so fed up of these people over the years. - calcio327, on 10/19/2009, -3/+156Ethnicity has nothing to do with him getting hit. Don't be a dumbass in a bar, or you'll pay for it.
- Bodhinature, on 10/19/2009, -1/+94"Foreign nationalist should patronize 4 & 5 star hotels for food and entertainment to be on the safe side!"
Or don't act like a drunk ***** anywhere in the world. - misslindadee, on 10/19/2009, -7/+100I‘ve visited Bangkok many times and never saw violence of any kind. The Thais are a very respectful culture and are extremely sweet-tempered and good-natured.
My presumption is the inebriated Englishman was in the Patpong Rd. district where Sex and drugs are notorious. Whereever one would find people of this situation you should expect to encounter a special punishment from brass knuckles or something similar from an exaggeratedly exuberant and intoxicated “peacemaker”. Foreign nationalist should patronize 4 & 5 star hotels for food and entertainment to be on the safe side! - shutaro, on 10/19/2009, -0/+82You never hear about people getting gently knocked out...
- octowussy, on 10/19/2009, -2/+81Despite the fact that it's clearly an Englishman and not an American, I can also attest to the fact that Americans very rarely present a problem in Thailand. I've spent many months there, and it's usually Englishmen or Australians (and occasionally Russians) acting up like this.
- kb29, on 10/19/2009, -4/+79That woman/ladyboy has some nice legs.

It's the usual story. Americans goes overseas. Americans drinks. Americans thinks he's hard as nails. Americans disrespects locals. Americans gets beat down. Sucker punch or no sucker punch. He clearly deserved it. American Poof - bushout, on 10/19/2009, -0/+62i think they slapped him to bring him round
- whytey, on 10/19/2009, -0/+60I'm British and i agree with you
- Floobins, on 10/19/2009, -6/+62I don't understand why the stereotype of Britain is always really posh people drinking tea with top hats and canes. The entire country is full of scum like the guy in the video. They should be the stereotype, as it's far more common to run into those people.
Source: 21 years living in the UK. - tootim, on 10/19/2009, -2/+56You would get a punch in the nuts for saying Bangkok in certain circles.
- palehorse864, on 10/19/2009, -0/+54One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble!
- memper, on 10/19/2009, -6/+56A pub is someone's living room. One they've made public. Otherwise you might as well sit on the cold tile floor of your Kmart and open some of your Mike's lemonade from the cooler section. If someone comes into your living room on a faithful invitation and starts threatening your man, you're gonna kill the situation anyway the hell you want.
People in this thread whining about sucker punches and blind knock outs. A fair fight is a physical conversation between reasonable men. He was clearly drunk and unreasonable. The punch was thrown not as a message to the man but to diffuse a situation. And it was obviously effective. - Boblamov, on 10/19/2009, -11/+59I have no respect for sucker punches
- evilregis, on 10/19/2009, -1/+48Roofies are gentle.
- b1ll30, on 10/19/2009, -3/+47I love how people can make a judgment about not just a situation, but a whole culture (either Thai or British) and country based on 30 seconds of video... Makes my day.
- circadiem, on 10/19/2009, -1/+45Now that's how you handle an irate customer.
- 3rdDay, on 10/19/2009, -0/+43Sadly not atypical 'Engerrrrrrrrrrluuuunnnnnddd' hooligan behaviour from Brits aboard. And I'm a Brit.
- Awwzm, on 10/19/2009, -2/+39On the one hand, Thai's are very kind. But if you mess with the wrong ones, they will hand you your own ass. Some of these guys are no joke. What else can you expect from a country who's nation sport is Muay Thai?
- cbsx01, on 10/19/2009, -1/+37On that English note, I was recently in St. Lucia. My girlfriend and I could not get a taxi to stop for us. When one finally did, I relayed the story of how difficult it was to get a taxi and he said they typically don't like to stop for the Brits for that very reason.
- myempyrean, on 10/19/2009, -0/+34Floories?
- JCEEZ, on 10/19/2009, -0/+33Rule of thumb:
If whatever you are doing will get you a beat down in your home country, it will over-seas also. - brookslarson, on 10/19/2009, -0/+33You mean "Rapies".
- dave122, on 10/19/2009, -2/+34Fighting fair is for sporting events, in a bar fight if you don't pull out every dirty trick you have, it's not being noble, it's being a dumbass.
- Rainemaker, on 10/19/2009, -1/+29As a US citizen, I would guess that the majority of "Americans" there who are over the age of 30 and not staying in hostels have more pressing matters to attend to then "arguing with the locals"; primarily that of "having sex with the locals".
- mnemy, on 10/19/2009, -0/+24First of all, the guy was half the *****'s size. You idiotic overly "manly" men have no clue about fighting. "Kicking is for sissies" "fight fair" blah blah blah. I'm an amateur boxer. I step into the ring with rules and play by them. If I get into a street fight, I'm going to do whatever it takes to get away safely. If I have to sucker punch a 6'5" 300lb hulk, I will. In the balls.
The real world isn't some macho fantasy. If you don't end the fight ASAP by any means necessary, you could get shanked by a broken bottle, etc. - borez, on 10/19/2009, -0/+24+1, another British person and I agree.
There's a select bunch of complete ***** dick heads that truly make me feel embarrassed to be British whilst on holiday. - whytey, on 10/19/2009, -2/+25possibly a transsexual you never know
- tonks01, on 10/19/2009, -0/+22I'm a brit too, sad to see some parts of Thailand are turning into a 'lads' holiday destination.
- beatfarm, on 10/19/2009, -2/+24you're basing a decision not to travel to one of the most beautiful places on the planet based on one video? are you not aware that this can happen in any city in the world?
retarded assessment at the least. - dave122, on 10/19/2009, -1/+23No, i'm not much of a fighter, but if one is going to happen I prefer to end it before it has a chance to start. I don't want to get punched in the face, that would hurt.
- Schmich, on 10/19/2009, -11/+33Both side in the wrong imo. Kicking a man, who already got a knockout punch, in the head and then on top of that slap him?
- DensterNY, on 10/19/2009, -1/+21Well as other people said you don't know the details and circumstances before this confrontation. In the Thai red light districts it is a well known scam that as a tourist you are invited to watch sex shows and you just have to buy one or two drinks. However, those one or two drinks are five times what you'd pay at any normal bar and when you protest local muscle or ahem, security comes on the scene to persuade you to settle your tab and leave.
The Thais are in general a very peaceful people but many of them are still extremely poor and with so much tourism to the country they're left to their imaginations on how to extract money from visitors. I've been to Bangkok, Koh Samui and Phuket many times and have seen more scams than in New York's Times Square during the late seventies. - gobbo, on 10/19/2009, -0/+19True. However, it's the same cultural thread of bellicose bullheads that enabled a little island with a good fleet to run a gigantic global empire. You can't just have good management to work that, you need yobs in boots.
Now the empire's gone, and you're still stuck with the empire builders. - blackinthmiddle, on 10/19/2009, -0/+19While I agree with you and dugg you up, you *never* handle financial disputes by hovering over and yelling at a older man, especially when you're in a foreign place and see that the person that you're yelling at *has friends*. I grew up in the Bronx and had many reasons to get into fights. However, I was always cognizant of my surroundings.
o If I was in an unknown location with people I didn't know, I didn't raise a fuss. Even if I was physically stronger than the other guy.
o If while dealing with someone, I could see "all eyes on me" and people giving knowing glances and winks, I did *everything* possible to extract myself from the situation.
Sometimes, you've already been marked and there's nothing you can do to get yourself out of a situation. However, doing what this guy did never helps.
Now, what if the guy truly was being robbed by being forced to pay, I don't know, $100 for two beers? Pay with a credit card, then dispute it afterward. Which leads to another point. My first question whenever I'm out drinking with my friends: Do you take credit cards? If the answer is no, I turn around immediately and find somewhere that does. - arcusxx, on 10/19/2009, -5/+22... from mommy's basement.
- bushout, on 10/19/2009, -0/+16"who wants some?" ha with his fat beer gut and slumped over posture - ooh terrifying
- chuckDontSurf, on 10/19/2009, -0/+16I can't believe I had to scroll down this far to get to that comment.
- swantamer, on 10/19/2009, -10/+25Sucker punches like that one are for little bitches too scared to fight. That said if you are going to start to act up in a bar (or pretty much anyplace) you need to try to have some awareness of what is going on around you. This guy had too little and that's why he ended up on the floor. Basic stuff.
- algaeturd, on 10/19/2009, -3/+18Ahhh...nothing like the smell of fresh desperation on digg first thing in the morning...
- Roshz, on 10/19/2009, -4/+18hong on
- MaxxusFlamus, on 10/19/2009, -3/+16if ur being a dick then you deserve the dick moves that come to you.
- algaeturd, on 10/19/2009, -7/+20Guy was a dick but that was a sucker punch. You can knock anyone out, anywhere, any time if you take the right angle and they're not expecting it. Full David & Goliath scenario.
- acknotSW, on 10/19/2009, -0/+12Sometimes when you are an *****, bad ***** happens to you.
- tootim, on 10/19/2009, -1/+13I'm just upset they didn't put him in the recovery position... but yeah, he had it comin.
- psion01, on 10/19/2009, -0/+11I hope this doesn't mean we're getting old.
- harvinator24, on 10/19/2009, -1/+12Though Americans typically only know english, or at least grasp at straws with a second language, like myself. We as tourist are rated as one of the highest nations. One because we typically don't fight get rowdy or cause problems, demand worthless ***** like the English do as seen above, and we spend a lot of money unlike the French. These are not generalizations but information I obtain through some travel website that did a survey of Hotel owners, servers, and theme park operators.
- Nairebis, on 10/19/2009, -1/+11Do me a favor and post what country you're from so I can generalize which country is so stupid that it thinks a reality show represents reality.
- Foxprowl, on 10/19/2009, -1/+11Wow...that was like the Thai version of Roadhouse
