- tokyopimp, on 10/12/2007, -9/+86Or maybe she was on a TV show, got excited, and answered to quickly... it happens, humans make simple mistakes.
You don't need to question society because of a ***** nervous person missing a easy question on god damn TV! There are far better reasons to question society and it's intelligence. - Ulisses, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Won't load.
What's up with youtube? First they screw up the 'related' search, now some videos will refuse to load for no reason. - jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15AsVG8O51E working link
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the $200 question the second easiest? Somewhat funny yes, but substantially less funny than a person missing the $100 question.
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Don't you mean "lol what an idiot"?
Moron. - guyperson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Lmfao. And the letters in each answer are followed by a colon "A:" "B:" "C:" "D:"
- truebullfan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17That question actually made me think for a second b/c of how the question was stated which was straightforward (yea that doesn't make any sense)
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I thought this was going to be the one where the lady picked that elephants were larger than the moon
- unversed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That or it just flashes "Owned"
- lewikee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The story about the elephant and the moon is almost 100% fake. The usual story has her picking "elephant" after she uses ALL her lifelines (including 50/50). Yet the only picture we ever see of her picking it is elephant highlighted with all 4 choices still remaining.

Notice the blurry grey behind the question. Like someone tried to photoshop a previous question.
Very unlikely that I'm wrong, but I'd love to see a video to show that I am :) - KMye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12No, I'm sorry, this is a very simple question about very simple grammar, and while, given the state of education today (and given her age, apparently the last 30 years), perhaps this should have been left for question #4 or #5, there should have been no way to get this one wrong. You're probably right about how she messed this one up, but I think it's just a further example of how Powerpoint has ruined everything from academic presentations to military briefings, to now, I guess, lowerclass white-collar workers' grammatical skills.
- dyvbond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10period=full stop
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"period=full stop"
Heh, doesn't it just? ...unless you like that sort of thing. - *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Is period an American term? I'm from the UK and I honestly don't know what that means.
- PixelVision, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@lewikee
More evidence: http://www.ukgameshows.com/atoz/programmes/w/who_millionaire/wwtbam_new_5.jpg - Illidan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11This is quite simply retarded. Her brain caught on the symbol used to the left of each entry in the list (as mine did when watching the video and reading the four potential answers); seen in that context, none of the answers are correct, and she assumed period was being used in the place of bullet. This has more to do with the vagaries of the human brain then it does stupidity.
- DurkaMcDurk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7its already old...
- leejae, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10There is no defense for her. She was being an overly-confident moron.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The word "period" has many different meanings:
-A punctuation mark used to denote the end of a sentence or abbrev.
-A segment, such as a "period of time", one of the periods of hockey
-Something women do - rumor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5oh god if she had missed the first one though...lol...
seriously, wtf? - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If only idiocy could be taught, we could unteach it...no, you have to acquire it the old fashioned way, through hard experience and bad genetics.
- imran7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8did she say B period? wasn't it C?

- shortarabguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Indeed. I'm not surprised by the simple mistake in and of itself. I can't say with more than mediocre certainty that, under the pressure of being on national television, I would say that a colon is used to precede a list of items.
Although her reaction to being wrong is concerning... I wonder what her son will think, hahaha... - rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i thought it was an exclamation point!!!!!...
- TruthKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Software2
+ For a good demonstration of the use of a colon, as well as the rundown on periods. - Depthfunction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a good thing "semicolon" wasn't one of the options or else half of the audience watching would have gotten it wrong too.
(Semicolons NEVER introduce lists!) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1welcome to my block list, a place normally reserved for spammers and anicejew. You should feel proud.
- Commandinateur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2worked fine for me
- MasterChi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The sad thing is she has a kid which she will undoubtedly teach her idiocy too.
- Culled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This kind of thing wouldn't have happened if it was still Regis doing the show. When the show is on every weekday you're going to have to use a lot more stupid people than when it's just on once a week.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Okay, I've re-read your post 5 times and I still don't get it. Why would having Regis host the show create 5 new episodes a week, and why would that stop people from making mistakes?
- Culled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When Regis was hosting the show it was on in primetime and therefore was only aired once a week (to be honest the show was on a lot more than once a week after it got huge but that's a different story). The syndicated version currently in production is aired every weekday. Therefore my comment was basically that since the show is aired a lot more than it used to be the producers must find a lot more contestants than they used to and they can't all be that bright.
Sorry if my original comment wasn't clear. - chrisk9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With the success of American Idol's showcase of horrible and embarrassing auditions, I wouldn't be surprised if the Millionaire producers try to mix things up by having less qualified contestants join the show to unexpectedly bomb.
- Gizza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Semicolons are commonly used those which is what the question asked. Pretty dumb wording of the question really. Anything may be commonly used depending on the persons knowledge of grammar.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1She obviously cant do things herself.... at least she didn't get that first one wrong.
- LordSkippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've lived in Rochester, NY (where the contestant is from). I'm not surprised.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah.... she couldn't even get the letter right..... LOL

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2YOU are quite simply retarded. it was an EASY QUESTION.
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1This represents American education. LOL'd!
- rhettnyedotorg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1in my understanding the period is the correct english punctuation to use, but the question was, "What is commonly used?"
ask your english teacher.
1) this is the right way.
2) this is the correct english way.
or ask your television:
1) whatever we say goes
2) you are sheeple - UglieJosh, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Lol, what idiots.
