        Apple has not offered an optional floppy drive.... ever? Zip drive maybe in the G3 and G4 PowerMacs, but not floppy a drive. Once they dropped them from the original iMac, they were not in the following revisions of other machines either. They also never had promotional sales flyers in newspapers for stripped down systems, and every Mac (except the Xserve) has at least one dinky internal speaker.

So "Roberto" tells him "Well if the price of the phone goes back up, can I call you back to charge you more?" It's funny but at the same time gives the customer a terrible experience.

This customer got a very nice computer for his troubles. The call was played on an Austin radio station when it first was leaked. The rep in question was fired as well.

      This call was VERY famous at Dell back when it happened...

    Dell is annoying. I bought a Dell last year and did not purchase an extended warranty. Someone from their extended warranty department called and tried to sell me an extended warranty. After listing several doomsday scenarios, I politely excused myself and said that I was not interested. The salesperson continued to spew situations such as "what if your hard drive fails", "what if it gets wet", "what if it doesn't boot up?" What if it gets wet? WTF? It's a desktop. I had an answer for each question and this ***** him off so much, he yelled something and hung up on me.

    However, I consider this a small price to pay for their amazingly cheap prices. I mean where else can you get a dual core with 1 GB of RAM and a 19" widescreen monitor for 400 bux???

But your desktop could get wet if the sprinklers go off, if you have such a setup. Different accidents happen. I don't know if they still have this, but for laptops they had a warranty that even if dropped it, they'd fix it.

Last week while I was online checking my bank account a charge came through from Dell for an $1,100 computer and another $300 charge from Staples for a printer. Knowing that these were not made by me, I immediately contacted both companies to stop these orders before the funds were transferred out of my account. I give Staples my card information and they find the order and see that it is obviously a stolen card as the shipment is going 1000 miles from where I live and is under someone elses name. They cancel it immediately. Dell on the other hand claims that they cannot find the order from the card that it was paid on (because their system can't do that) and tells me to take it up with my bank when the funds clear. So I figure Dell is okay knowing that this shipment is a fraud and they are willing to ship it and charge me, then come back later and refund my money to the bank. I am sure that they will book this as a sale and then write it down as theft on their books. Nice little scam Dell has going there. Thanks Dell, you can kiss my ass.

      I could order something with my CC, ship it to my parents in California, then try to call and say I didnt make the purchase, and look, its 2000 miles from my address. Dell just has "your word" at that point. Going through the bank makes it a felony (fraudulant claim) ...
