- northerncomfort, on 10/12/2007, -11/+45why the ***** were you motivated to write that?
- JM13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Wow, YouTube crashing? First sign of the web-apocalypse...
- EricPeters, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Page isn't loading for me... Did Digg bring down YouTube?
- cagedog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Looks like YouTube's sysadmin took the money and ran!
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14It's not like he was being serious.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15World premiere.... YouTube got dugg.
Any googlevideo links anyone?... :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Actually, this doesn't include the green screen entries. Here you go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6uTE57oYaA - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16link is down... ?
- CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I guess this was google's plan all along:
1) Buy out youtube
2) Make youtube crash
3) Keep google video up (serving 2 long documentaries to digg on the same day)
4) Have a near monopoly on internet videos
5) ???
6) Profit! - f8pc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Ah, how we love to take credit. Feasible or not, Digg is probably not the reason YouTube is down.
- CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is a great opportunity to see how many people digg something without actually clicking the link. I when I tried to click and saw it was down it was at 206 diggs. So far it has got 50 diggs since then. Very interesting to see how many people use google as a bookmarking tool.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@thinkbox.... the whole site is down.
- kaoru, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Digg can't possibly be the reason for YouTube going down, this story has a meager 225 diggs and loads of YouTube videos are linked from Digg every day. :P
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9You had to burst our bubble... didnt you?... party pooper.
- CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5sorry, I meant digg
- synae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't understand why people are modding you down -- you *must* be the only person on digg who doesn't like Colbert ;-]
with a comment that accurate it only makes sense to digg it... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7you're an idiot, you forgot the "making" in that sentence, i.e. "I think Colbert is *making* a joke." Call me crazy, but maybe he was just using that thing called "comedy" on a network called "Comedy Central" Keep your confused, misplaced indignation to yourself, and spare the rest of us from having to mod it down..
- kanavulator, on 10/12/2007, -14/+18It's just no use sticking up for your modded down comments. You said ***** nobody cares about or agrees with, now leave it alone and get back to your Algebra homework.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"and runs throught all the great entries in the Colbert GreenScreen Challenge."
uhhh...which video did you see? - emgonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5this video brought to you by http://digg.com/colbert where we strive to bring you everything Colbert has to say. Regardless.
- AdverseE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3YES
- bysin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There isnt any least funny/interesting bits of the show.
- dohidied, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6http://www.duggmirror.com
damn, that didn't work. - NoNom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You forgot 'users'
digg.com/users/colbert - ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is, of course, a joke, but video of him from the presidential dinner speech got hundreds of thousands views in a couple of days (before youtube took it down) and seriously helped promote youtube (and Colbert as well, of course).
- ogre2112, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I mod him as lame. I love good comedy but everything I've seen from him is crap.
- bekeleven, on 10/12/2007, -10/+10Dear YouTube:
OWNED!
Sincerely, t3h internets - tamm3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I know your not being serious however,
Simple reason google bought youtube was to ensure that their rivals didn't. A rival to google buying a site with 46% share of its market opens up several possiblities for prospective buyer. For example, if say Microsoft bought Youtube, theres the distinct possibility they may well integrate live search into the site.
Youtube has a huge userbase, and exposing live search to said userbase is bound to have a negative effect on google's search business in the long run.
I think google were just covering their bases. If what they say is true, Youtube will barely change at all both to the user, and to the workers of the company. - coder316, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sorry guys, please don't be too mean. I just noticed YouTube is back up. But some of what I said is still relevant...
- Zatko, on 10/12/2007, -10/+8Wow what a ignorant, sweeping generalization with no facts to back it up. You are exactly the person whom Colbert spoofs! Irony, indeed.
- coder316, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I believe YouTube being down is the result of the recent merger of YouTube to Google. Not as a conspiracy, not solely its presence on Digg - but as a server transfer. I don't think it's Google's goal to "kill" YouTube (make it crash) - as YouTube is now a part of Google, it's now more profitable to union YouTube to Google Video.
Plus, other reasons could be the result of YouTube being down: Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), and/or much more people attempting to access YouTube due to yes it's presence in Digg and ALSO being all over the news for the past two weeks.
Again, the notion of Google intentionally harming YouTube is not logical... as a business, it makes more sense for them to try to PROFIT.
Maybe when YouTube comes back online, Google's presence will be visible. - kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,272|||cable,00.html
colbert not listed. flavor flav #11 with 2.6 million viewers - guigui42, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I thought i was dreaming... but i guess i am not the only one : YouTube is down.
- moolcool, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1dugg just because it brought youtube down!!!
- myriad, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0youtube back up again
- DigitalBrian, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1YouTube is down, is it the Digg effect?
- santacruzach, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Am I the only person on Digg who doesn't think Colbert is the least bit funny?
- bwesterman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Yeah, The blue righteous of the earthen dwarven guilded buttersnatch!
- one50bpm, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0yeah this is bullsh*t, youtube isnt working
- NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1rofl ;)
- Jon20usa, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Wow. This is too funny that Digg made YouTube go down.
I want to see this clip. Colbert is always quite funny. - ayeyen, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0Colbert deserves that money. And Google certainly has it.
- tonage, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1Why don't we let Colbert get his own viewers by having a good show? Instead, he is advertised day after day after day after day, on places like YouTube. I am sure he will want something from Digg soon. I mean, he is on here endlessly. I guess because noone thinks he is good enough to get viewers on his own.
- NinjaDuck12, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Why do people always post the least funny/interesting bits of the show?
- wurzelgummage, on 10/12/2007, -28/+16If you like watching videos of random guys whacking their own dicks, sure.
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2most retarded thing ever. if step 4 were true in your scenario, it would be true right after step 1
- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -23/+8If youtube had any balls, they'd pay him the royalties. He beat out Chuck Norris in that bridge race for *****! Not to mention Colbert is a huge geek. Didn't you hear his speil when Viggo Mortenson came on The Daily show?
- ohhhL3ThaL, on 10/12/2007, -18/+4finetastic. rofl.
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -33/+17There is no pleasing you people!!!
