- inactive, on 08/04/2008, -1/+119Circuit City sells MAD Magazine? And they're not inventoried? That doesn't seem correct.
- sandburn, on 08/04/2008, -2/+106They already retracted it - http://consumerist.com/5032889/circuit-city-sorry- ...
- Kenzan, on 08/04/2008, -0/+102Circuit city sells magazines?
- Newsdude, on 08/04/2008, -6/+104This actually is great PR for them, and free
- springboks, on 08/04/2008, -4/+74Circuit City : The truth hurts doesn't it!
- Flashgordon20, on 08/04/2008, -2/+66Looks like they already apologized for this. It doesn't mean I'm going to shop there. "Once you know, you Newegg."

- chumprock, on 08/04/2008, -2/+56I actually have this issue in my bathroom. I laughed at the very true ads.
- Illustrious, on 08/04/2008, -1/+52Mad nailed it, just nailed it. Former red-shirt for cc, and it's all true.
- hexydes, on 08/04/2008, -0/+43Circuit City's still in business?!
- PabloMac, on 08/04/2008, -1/+42I hate when I incur shrink.
- Bilabrin, on 08/04/2008, -1/+37Agreed. Elizabeth Barron is an idiot.
This could have raised awareness and brand identity for Circuit City. Also this is bad PR and shows that that are mean spirited and cannot take a joke. - Darksider, on 08/04/2008, -0/+32Dugg for Best Buy across the street in the map
- krnldmp, on 08/04/2008, -0/+30Yeah its good PR for MAD magazine.
- basye, on 08/04/2008, -1/+31Will they be starting their own 'Demon Customer' campaign too?
- GorfTron, on 08/04/2008, -0/+29LOL at Epilepsy Victim Wii game...
- wattznext, on 08/04/2008, -2/+31Jeez, get a sense of Humor CC. You are just making yourself look bad by not being able to take a joke...
- ryan899, on 08/04/2008, -0/+28Most stores that sell magazines don't have them in their inventory system. They have an outside company come in to take care of all the merchandising associated with them.
- jeremyduffy, on 08/04/2008, -1/+28They forgot to mention the extended warranties
- Gatesophile, on 08/04/2008, -0/+25Circuit City really is always across from Best Buy, I've noticed.
- tavisjohn, on 08/04/2008, -0/+24They tried that with me when I was getting my wife's laptop. I turned around and saw another sales person standing there. I asked him "Would you like an easy laptop sale?" He said "Yes sir".
I then pointed at the sales person behind me and said "He is refusing to ring my laptop up. I do no want any extras. If you ring it up, the sale is yours!"
The first sales guy was PISSED! I turned back and told him "Cancel the transaction, and get me the store manager!" The store manager came and canceled out the transaction, then asked me what was wrong. I told him, he looked at the first sales person and informed him that even if his numbers are low, he can NOT refuse to sell anything when the customer does NOT want the extras.
SO the first sales person spent an hour with me to pick out the perfect laptop, and got NOTHING. The second one spent no time with me and got credit for selling a laptop. And my wife got the laptop she wanted. - seanshady, on 08/04/2008, -1/+22I work there and I prefer circuit ***** rather than sucker city. It flows better, especially if you say it like that asian dude that owns city wok on south park.
- iremain187, on 08/04/2008, -0/+20Purchased new laptop with extended warranty in August 2006. Returned in February 2007 to have a new monitor installed due to a line that appeared across the screen (I believe it was a leak in the gasket around the monitor). Did not hear from them for three weeks. Called and was told that it was being shipped back. Did not hear anything again for 2 weeks. Called Again and was told that it never even left Sucker City at all. Demanded it be sent out immediately. Did not hear anything again for a month, even after repeated phone calls to CC and the corporate HQ. Finally got a call back saying the laptop was back, but it wasn't fixed. Went to the store absolutely ***** to find that someone had CRACKED the screen in half and was told that it was physical damage and therefore not covered under any warranty. When they gave it to me they fished a random power cord out of a bin with about 100 other cords in it. Demanded MY cord back and was told that it was probably given to someone else and that is just how they did things there. Called Better Business Bureau. Sued CC.
- snoogit, on 08/04/2008, -0/+19From the article linked to in the thread:
"As a gesture of our apology and deep respect for the folks at MAD Magazine, we are creating a cross-departmental task force to study the importance of humor in the corporate workplace and expect the resulting Powerpoint presentation to top out at least 300 pages, chock full of charts, graphs and company action plans."
At least he's being honest. - Miamisun, on 08/04/2008, -0/+18Seriously though all 3 of the Circuit Citys in my area are across from Best Buys. Although i think the CC was there first and then the BB built across the street just to ***** them.
- btschul, on 08/04/2008, -0/+17I was in the pool!!
- greggerm, on 08/04/2008, -0/+17Results?
- btschul, on 08/04/2008, -0/+15That's what Best Buy does best. ***** people.
- 17999, on 08/04/2008, -1/+14"Circumcision City"
"We only take a bit off"
/came up with that myself
//worked there in grad school in the days of commissions
///Audio, Video, Computers, ACE, Appliances, Mobile Icons - somethinspecial, on 08/04/2008, -1/+13I love the epilepsy victim bundle with the bitestick controller. LOL
- JYoungest1, on 08/04/2008, -0/+11Its called DPS, and it actually works better than their new system.
*Ex-Redshirt and future giggler when the company folds. - Mikey129, on 08/05/2008, -1/+12Your choice of colors are horrible.
- Alex2, on 08/04/2008, -1/+11You showed him!
- KaJuN4, on 08/04/2008, -0/+10When I went to buy my laptop the employee WOULD NOT ring it up without something extra added on. Extended warranties, special setup services, useless software packages, etc. No matter how much I insisted I only wanted the computer he wouldn't tell me what the total cost would be. I finally just said "I've changed my mind" and I walked away.
- Erodeo, on 08/04/2008, -2/+12Its very rare that Mad makes me laugh nowadays but that is hilarious. Win+
- hexydes, on 08/04/2008, -0/+10Haha, look at that e-mail. I can't believe CC still uses terminal systems...
- astrixx, on 08/04/2008, -4/+14I used to work for circuit city. For one, Best Buy is the company opening stores across from CC. I dont think CC would be that dumb. Also they have a 30 day price adjustment guarantee, so if you did buy a tv for $400 more last week, you could get the difference back. And regarding the wiis, when i worked there our jobs were threatened if we bought or held a wii for ourselves or a friend. I worked there and had to buy mine at walmart! I dont understand why everyone hates CC. I dont know about the rest of the company but the store i worked at actually cared about integrity.
- FredFredrickson, on 08/04/2008, -0/+9Me too - I thought the 23 / 23 Guarantee part (if I remember the numbers correctly) was the best.
- bipolarruledout, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9They both do. But best buy does it better and yet they are considered more "cool" for some reason than circuit jerk-it. There is a whole message board dedicated to best buy and it's been around for years.
- Diggsterrr, on 08/04/2008, -0/+9I always thought "Circuit *****" fit them better...
- btschul, on 08/04/2008, -0/+8http://www.newegg.com
- Cwo655321, on 08/04/2008, -0/+8I would have gone with "jerk-it *****." Don't ask me what it means, I just know it feels great.
- FredFredrickson, on 08/04/2008, -1/+8I read the article, and it's hilarious. Sucker - I mean, Circuit City should remove the stick from its ass.
- fearlessfx, on 08/04/2008, -3/+10//// no one cares
- tgunner, on 08/04/2008, -1/+8Anyone know where I can see all 4 pages online?
- btschul, on 08/04/2008, -0/+6Consumerist didn't retract it. It happened, and then they got an email from Circuit ***** saying that it was a thin skinned coroprate idiot who sent out the memo, and they are working on fixing it. Read the link before you comment next time.
- cawpin, on 08/04/2008, -4/+10You are a ***** *****.
- Aero347, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6"In addition I have offered to send the MAD Magazine Editor a $20.00 Circuit City Gift Card, toward the purchase of a Nintendo Wii" ..Cheap bastards to the bitter end..
- Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5I worked there, too and people were always bringing receipts and ads from papers showing that they paid too much and there was never an issue of giving the customer the difference. Not only that but people used to take advantage and buy like a big screen TV for the Super Bowl and then return it... I remember one time this dude bought a big screen TV and dropped it while loading it on his truck and the manager even gave him a new one and took back the damaged one.
