- SyntraFTW, on 07/02/2008, -5/+39Surprised this is on The Onion, this seems like something he'd do.
- greenroom628, on 07/02/2008, -0/+33dugg for the picture of a bear getting drilled.
- gregkr, on 07/02/2008, -0/+23Took me a minute.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -1/+17I love the momentary confusion caused by a good, strategically placed onion article!
And yes, I'm with the last guy. I give it 2 diggs for the pic of the bear getting drilled. Classic! - wfiupublicradio, on 07/02/2008, -0/+12and his next project: pave over yellowstone.
love the onion. - elmotoothbrush, on 07/03/2008, -1/+10Dugg for sexual innuendos.
- Willravel, on 07/04/2008, -0/+7In a related story, Digg actually thought this was serious for a second. Jesus....
- dsoleil, on 07/02/2008, -4/+8This'll get buried the second it hits the FP because like 50 dopey people will think it's real and completely inaccurate. Sad.
- reaper527, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5i saw this on the upcoming recommendations, and before clicking thought it was a legit story with a truncated ANWR title. love the onion.
- AnotherJake, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Yeah, dugg for the bear being drilled.
But whatever... It'll take eons for that drilled wildlife to get into the oil market, so I guess I'm against it? - pauldy, on 07/04/2008, -1/+5Given how digg leans it wouldn't surprise me if it is being dugg because even more doppy people think it is real.
- domokunt, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4Nothing like picture evidence to back up an article.
- BananaGrabber, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3This green edition of the onion was great. My favorite one was about the environment being raped.
"In their opening statement before jurors Monday, defense attorneys representing Pacific North Construction & Lumber Corp. argued that their client was not at fault for the July 1997 rape of 30,000 acres of virgin forest, claiming that the forest led the development company on with "an eager and blatant display of its rich, fertile bounty."

- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -3/+5The fact that people could think this was serious at first glance is because of the world we have lived in under Bush for the last 8 years.
Lets be fair, this is a man that has made so many mind numbingly bad decisions that this does not even seem far fetched.
I mean read this "joke" article about Bush from 2001, and see if you are laughing now.
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28784 - inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2That's weird, I thought he only liked to drill sheep on his ranch in Texas.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2According to a report by Bush's own USGS, the harm caused by habitat loss far outweighs the benefits, and not only for caribou but also for many other types of wildlife including snow geese and musk oxen.
- gearhead364, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Unusual title from the The Onion, I almost thought it was real at first.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2salmon?
- quakken, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2That's what they said about saudi camels getting drilled for the market fifty years ago, and look where they are today!
- mikemil828, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1October 11, 2006.....
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2drill anwr now
- mattc908, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3You know since they put the alaskan pipeline caribou have increased in number.............in the winter they keep warm by it, i just thought i'd say that.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Yay someone dose not know how to correlate for inflation.
Whatever ***** I don't have time for dumb rednecks like you. - inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Wow, I am so glad I do not have your world view.
- MrKrinkleDude, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Drilling of Alaskan wildlife? I dunno man, when I go hunting I tend to leave my drill at home. I just can't picture myself trying to take down a Caribou with a drill.
- Selfmadecelo, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Wow. I failed to look at the website and read half-way through before thinking "WTF?".
/facepalm - BananaGrabber, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1The date is wrong. You could get the paper version of the Onion for free in my college. Read this article today and I was reading the latest one.
- spongya77, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1The only Alaskan wildlife I'm interested in drilling is not living in Wildlife Refuges.
- BitKid, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Bestiality has never been my thing.
- pagno, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I think Alaska might have something to say about this. They love their guns more than the rest of us.
The Onion rocks! - mtrip, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1That's some tasty kool-aid ain't it?
- Ducttape21, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1The Onion has become eerily prophetic in the last seven years regarding presidential policies.
- SquigglyP, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1How the ***** do you manage to get through each day without accidentally drowning in the shower? Do you even see the ***** idiocy in commenting on an article to let everyone know that you didn't read it because it was too long? Can you possible understand how amazingly ***** stupid you have just admitted to being? Even as a joke, this is pretty ***** close to the most retarded thing I've ever seen on Digg - and that is saying a lot. A whole ***** lot.
Do not breed. For the sake of humanity, I beg you. - molotov, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1You can't drill wildlife.
You can drill into land that is surrounded by wildlife. - Darksoul, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1I don't know whats sadder is that it was put out by The Onion or the fact that before I say they created it I thought it was real. Can't really blame myself it just seemed like something Bush would do go figure.
- alvarezg, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Bush has 180° credibility. Whatever he says, guarantees that the opposite is true.
- pintomp3, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Digg is a person now?
- Joshper85, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1God Forbid!!!
More Oil when Bush is our "Oiler Dealer"
awesome - Anonchrist, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1I always check the comments first and was a little freaked. I thought that their were explicit pictures of animals getting "drilled" for a minute... The Onion is so much kinder than sites run by /b/tards.
- quakken, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1that was the best onion article I have ever seen.
But isn't it supposed to be a joke thing? If you let some facts slide, that's completely true 50% of the time. - spongya77, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Close, but no cigar :)
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1"Yay someone dose not know how to correlate for inflation."
Huh? Do you mean "account for" inflation?
In any case, inflation is trending at 4% and is hardly a serious issue. Were you under the deeply mistaken impression that the weakening of the dollar relative to foreign currencies == inflation? - Dealjobber, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0The tears from the agonizing cries from the animals as the 1/2-inch drill bit tears away tendons, ligaments and bone will only make the oil more energy-efficient.
- chinaman1212, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0Its funny reading the diggs from the ***** who either dont know what the onion is or didn't read the article. dumb asses!
- fuzztooth, on 07/07/2008, -0/+0No, you can blame yourself - you can blame yourself for not reading it and only taking parts of the title out of context.
- perkoff, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0If Bush thinks it's a good idea it must be. This guy is a genius. There hasn't been a terrorist attack for 7 years and that's thanks to George "Genius" Bush. It's too bad we can't elect the most popular president of all time to another term. He deserves it, you can't deny that!
