- echolyean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+48"Today a young man on acid realized that all of matter is merely energy condensed into a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness and the Universe itself is self-projected. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather!" - Bill Hicks excerpt on "Third Eye" (Tool)
- plasticquart, on 10/10/2007, -7/+39Hicks is the greatest comic of my generation.

"It's not a war on drugs, It's a war on personal freedom thats what it is, ok? Keep that in mind at all times, Thank you"
- Bill Hicks - mrlyons, on 10/10/2007, -5/+26Oh, Bill Hicks. I think we should all smoke a bowl in honor.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -1/+21In response to the kids throwing out Tool excerpts..
"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey don't worry, don't be afraid ever, because this is just a ride ...' And we ... kill those people.
Ha ha, 'Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. - beyondinfinity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Bill Hicks was brilliant.
- KrazyA1pha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Closer to 'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreally ***** high on drugs'
- lukifer, on 10/10/2007, -10/+20"Oh my Me... I ***** gave Bill Hicks pancreatic cancer!"
And God wept. - bruenig, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14Some of his weaker material for sure.
- misconstrued, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11You're a ***** appearently.
- iancgi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13kudos to all the diggers getting intelligent videos on the front page.
- DiggDuggDugged, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9That guy wasn't trolling. You proceeded to attack the guy without realizing that both parts of his comment reference Bill Hicks. Get up and look in the mirror man, but be prepared to see the troll staring back at you.
- lukifer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10That was meant to express deep sorrow through irony. Not sure how you're seeing it...
- DiggDuggDugged, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9My favorite bit of Bill Hicks at work was his attempt to get inside the perimeter at Waco while posing as a mainstream journalist. This isn't the full thing but it gives you a sense of the genius at work: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Qw1oZ9oSroo
Sorry if that comes across as off topic but I feel that any opportunity to expose Bill Hicks to a wider audience should be taken. The man knew what he was talking about, cared about it passionately, and could make you piss your pants from laughter (along with being a first rate ass to hostile audiences). It's a shame that he did not live to see what this country has come to. - nosscaj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Read "Food of the Gods" by Terrence McKenna for the lowdown on the whole "apes + shrooms = human" deal. Careful, though - it's a rabbit hole.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+7I like how all the quotes of his that people are using in this thread are from one Tool song.
- feebie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6that is my favorite quote
- KingBunny, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10First half: sort of funny
Second half: I wanted to hear grunting I'd (insert funny insult here)
Anyway considering that marijuana is no worse than alcohol or tobacco, the ban should be called a "prohibition" at least.. then people would understand why it is not wokring, has never worked, and will never work.
People can either do dangerous, taxless drugs, or pay taxes on safe drugs. There is no "no drugs" option. - ElwinRansom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Not his best performance, but Bill is always funny.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Terence McKenna proposed this theory (at least in "Food of the Gods" the only one of his I read) and Graham Hancock's last book "Supernatural" (though it gets a little redundant) if anyones interested in reading about the subject.
- BabaRamDass, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's called the "Stoned Ape" theory, as a matter of fact. He proposed that the effect of mushrooms called "synesthesia" (e.g., seeing sounds, hearing colors, etc.) was a catalyst in the development of language: creating pictures in others' heads by making noise.

- marcomc2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Reminds me of "Human Traffic". Check it out if you like, a British film about a ***** week of work, then a glorious weekend of clubs, drugs, and pubs. He watches Bill Hicks right before they all go out partying. It is good. Okay, I'll stop, Human Traffic.
- lukifer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Hear, hear.
- Godlike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I might say that an interesting implication of this is that we are striving with everything we have to emulate something that we never really were.
I am really stoned tho... - rickbauls, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I see now, I read it wrong. Sorry.
- jull1234, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Rest in peace, dude.
- LecherousVenom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Done.
- datamyte, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Greatest comic of any generation. Combine George Carlin's insight with Sam Kinnison's energy and you have Bill Mofo Hicks.
- echolyean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Fantastic quote. The whole DVD is great. I don't own too many DVDs, but I definitely could make an exception for Mr. Hicks. He went far too soon.
- datamyte, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2and done. Dugg for Bill Mofo Hicks.
- charbo187, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2thank you
- ISIfunded911, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That is the place to remind people that the late great Bill Hicks and Alex Jones both are from Austin, and have many friends and many interests in common. Like Waco: good videos by Alex, they both agree. And the great stand-up comedian Doug Stanhope! There is a good bio of Bill on emule by the way.
- knobtwiddler, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4i love bill but thats just not funny.
- skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I lol'ed.
- kindrobot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yes and no. See, Hicks didn't come up with it all on his own either. But Rogan doesn't use it in the same way, and almost never (if ever) in his act. It's always in interviews, radio, stuff like that. The concept pre-dates both of them. The idea of transient cultures and mushroom cults developing symbolic language through the use of psychedelic mushrooms is pretty old. The took cattle with them where they went, which in turn spread the dung, which spread the shrooms.
- fishpicker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I really miss Hicks. He was funny but, the reason I still listen to his material because it is true and profound.
- drunkjack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I posted this almost a year ago, man!

Damn! - diablo75, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3READ TERENCE MCKENNA!
- fishpicker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the Link DDD. Hicks' thoughts on the Waco siege are worth revisiting.
- kamikaze87, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Over your head dude.
- davewashere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Being mentally defective must get your rocks off. (now that's trolling)

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Didn't he mention something about how all the good people die and the little ***** devils keep running a muck?
He was always a little "out there" but a damn fine comedian who definitely thought for himself. -
