For example, according to both the FBI and the National Institute of Drug Abuse blacks are 13% of the drug using population however they make up 38 percent of persons arrested for drug offenses, 59 percent of those convicted of drug offenses, and 63 percent of those convicted of drug trafficking. In addition, blacks convicted of drug offenses get sentenced to prison at much higher rates than whites convicted of the same offenses: 80% of drug users are white between the ages of 12-25. On a much larger scale the War on Crime and specifically the War on Drugs have been implemented to replaced the Jim Crow laws which replaced slavery.
It's funny that in in 1964, 65% of all prison admits were white, while only 35% were people of color. By 1991, these figures had reversed. I say it's funny because the Jim Crow era ended with the Voting Rights Act of 1965. So did whites decide collectively to stop committing crimes in the intervening years, while Black and brown folks went nuts? According to FBI data, the percentage of crimes committed by blacks has remained steady over the past 18 years, while the number of Blacks in prison has tripled and their rates of incarceration have skyrocketed. Something ain't right.
And the racialization of crimes encourages whites to fear Black folks, the prevailing discourse paints a highly unrealistic picture of danger, which leaves people less safe and very ignorant. Considering white collar crimes (think Enron) cost the economy 200 billion vs 15.3 billion from street crimes we got to ask ourselves why race and crime only matter when it's the others. Only 1.86% of Black men, and less than eight-tenths of one percent of all African Americans will commit a violent crime in a given year, and only a minuscule percentage of these will choose white victims. Only 17% of the attackers of whites in a given year are Black, while 75% are whites. Yet, the racialization of crimes, allows your guard down to the real sources of danger that confront whites: other white people. If they're going to arrest people for drug crimes, one of their job requirements should be to do so equally.
Then there are the actual laws on the books, too. Look at the whole crack vs. cocaine thing. If you get caught with 25 grams of crack-cocaine, the minimum sentence is five years. You have to get caught with 500 grams of powdered cocaine to have the same sentence. And that was only a recent change. Previously, if you got caught with 5 grams of crack (basically, if you had any), there was an automatic minimum sentence of five years. Guess who smokes crack, and guess who snorts coke? I don't judge others on their skin color. I judge them on their personality, culture, and appearance. If a black man is wearing ghetto clothing, spinning rims, thumping bass, talking gangster, and acting like a thug, then I'm going to label him with a certain word and avoid him. However if a black man is dressed decently, talks like he's been educated, and doesn't walk around acting thuggish, I will not try to avoid him and not label him with anything, his skin color will mean nothing to me.

So, Norsemen who enslaved the Saxons. Saxons enslaved Scots. Romans enslaved Scots. Germans enslaved Jews. Jews enslaved by Egyptians, Germans, and most everyone else. Nowegians enslaved Ukrainians (far back). Cherokee enslaved by white man. Cherokee killed and enslaved other American Indians. English enslaved tribes all over the world.
When you get right down to it, I don't enslave, or discriminate against anyone based on race, and that's all that really matters.
