  • jj101, on 05/14/2009, -3/+11@final solution - self defence against what? In the UK we do not have particularly dangerous wildlife, nor are we being invaded by some alien threat. There is nothing to defend oursleves against, except oursleves. By making guns freely available we just enhance the only real threat that exists.

    In your constitution you have the right to bear arms. This is not for self defence but so that you might have a hope rising up in rebellion against a government acting against the interest people. Seeing as this did not happen in the last 8 years its seems unlikely to ever happen. Times have changed and civil war seems less appealing compared to sitting on the couch watching tv.
