- gaymathman, on 10/21/2009, -3/+65Pretty good, although the hummus one can't determine a Jew from a Muslim. Real Jews LOVE Muslim food, especially hummus; the Israeli government has an official hummus recipe. Many of the most popular foods and drinks in Israel originated in Arabic countries.

- danj484, on 10/22/2009, -1/+35Buddhism isn't polytheistic. Not all the schools, anyway.
- MatthewTheRaven, on 10/22/2009, -1/+30That should be at the top "How Many Gods Do You Want To Worship" --> "Dunno" --> "Agnostic"

- cptcliche, on 10/22/2009, -2/+21False, there were no funny parts in that movie
- Cloned, on 10/22/2009, -0/+19There are different sects of Buddhism. Even Ganesh sometimes makes an appearance. It's also entirely possible to be atheist and Buddhist.
- jdeane, on 10/22/2009, -4/+20I'm not a fan of the atheist/Scientologist connection. :-(
- FishThePirate, on 10/22/2009, -0/+14People who don't play chess are just in denial about really playing chess in secret!
/fundamentalist chess player - BubblesTheChimp, on 10/22/2009, -0/+13Take your man-love for Kevin Bacon somewhere else mister!
- Maxman92, on 10/22/2009, -0/+12Really, hummus is really a Middle Eastern thing. It's a horrible measure. Honestly when I saw the hummus part I thought it was gonna lead to Judaism...
- BubblesTheChimp, on 10/22/2009, -0/+12RAmen!
- MatthewTheRaven, on 10/22/2009, -2/+12Depends... Are you a naturally annoying person?
- Ryuuken117, on 10/22/2009, -4/+14Technically, you're right, but I'm friends with a couple of atheist people who are quite evangelical about their beliefs.
- jeffh4, on 10/22/2009, -1/+10Dugg for Bacon. Was there some other content in the graphic?
- Ascus, on 10/22/2009, -0/+9I think that chart was a complete equal opportunity offender.
I was trying to find the Flying Spaghetti monster path. - diggB, on 10/22/2009, -1/+10Wow. Anybody read the holytaco comment section? It's pretty ***** disturbing. I seriously hope they represent a very small insignificant slice of our population.

- Moralogic, on 10/22/2009, -1/+8On the no brand of no god.
Do you want a fake god to mock people who believe in gods, have silly holidays, and be part of a cultural revolution that easy pasta to praise their pseudo god? - asielen, on 10/22/2009, -1/+8Some forms. Not strict Buddhism though.
- Leopards, on 10/22/2009, -0/+6I'm waiting for the Flow Chart that breaks down how you choose a brand of Christianity! Really want to see who they recommend join the Westboro Baptist Church and certain of the Evangelical Mega Churches!!

- therealkid, on 10/22/2009, -5/+11Why do I feel like this is simply an attack on Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons?
- therealkid, on 10/22/2009, -9/+14Religion can be defined as any organized system of devout belief. And, yes, Atheism fits the bill. Don't get your godless panties in a knot.
- presidentraygun, on 10/22/2009, -1/+6The most disturbing thing about that page is I found myself checking out Marge.... damn, she fine.
- jeremiahjw, on 10/22/2009, -7/+12I tried hummus once, it doesn't taste horrible, but I wouldn't eat it for fun. Hilarious flowchart thou, and some funny stereotypes Oh, and I'm saying this as a professing Christian, so you other Christian's can't Digg me down for Christian bashing. ;-)

–noun
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
(from dictionary.com) - brickwall99, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Well I'm always trying to discover new ways to debate and new information to use in debates. The silly thing is we shouldn't even have to learn more to debate this type of stuff. It's like debating whether or not Santa Clause is real, it's pointless. The whole world would be better off if religion didn't exist and we could move on to more serious problems.
I think you make a good case about setting them up to hear you. I think a lot of the times no matter how calm you try to set people up once you start telling them their beliefs are wrong or even just questioning them with "why" or whatever, they'll just feel insulted, get their feelings hurt, cry, and stop debating, and then stay stuck in their little hole. Which is why a lot of the times I don't hold back much at all.
I will definitely take your method and ideas in to consideration. I think I can adopt some of it and put it to good use. - brickwall99, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4@Sivyr - What you're saying is exactly how I feel too. I do feel like I take a more aggressive stance towards religious beliefs than most atheists do though. Part of that is that I just don't care about hurting someone's feelings or not simply by discussing religion. Of course I'm not going to intentionally try to hurt someone's feelings by calling them hurtful names or reverting to insults. I argue about what's true in the universe, and I simply just hate religion with a fiery passion.
As I said in another comment of mine, in a religious sense we don't have a belief. I feel like the religious people out there assume we "believe" in science like they "believe" in religion. They are not equal by any stretch of the imagination. So rather than use the word "belief", I try to avoid it. But yes, we do believe in science and the evidence it shows us. I just don't like it when religious people try to say what atheists do with science is just as dogmatic as what they do with religion and no evidence to back up their claims.
Also, people explain and understand things differently. Everyone has different points of view. I also am not a great debater, but out of my hatred of religion I feel like if I can debate enough with people maybe, just maybe, I can get others to start thinking about their faith too.
See my point? - yocouchdigga, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5LOL, look it up yourself. It's the belief in a divine and or supernatural power. ie the antithesis of an atheist. Also, you're a complete idiot, don't breed.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 10/22/2009, -0/+4Billy Mays is the messiah!
- atiaxi, on 10/22/2009, -2/+6A light-hearted article? Do you really not know what it means? IT IS NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY Light-hearted articles mean they exist to poke fun, not to have 100% fact behind them. I don't write articles, but I'm willing to read many.
- Mnementh2230, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Atheism is a lack of faith.
I lack faith in the supernatural, including your variety of it - Christianity.
That this lack of faith pisses you off is your problem. Deal with it. I prefer to live in objective reality. - sivyr, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4@therealkid
If you will pardon my laziness in explaining this again, check out another post I've made regarding the issue of burden of proof for god:
http://digg.com/arts_culture/The_Rise_of_Atheism_i ...
I'll be happy to elaborate.
That being said, I agree entirely that atheists have no right to prejudice against religion in any form. However, we do have the right to insist that public domains of which we are a part do not include religious content. I haven't read the entrire thread, so I can't say which is being referred to. - lodeswrath, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5replace "dunno" with "who cares" and thats me
- howdareyou, on 10/22/2009, -0/+4I know this is true because the only funny parts of 'Don't Mess with the Zohan' involved Larry David's dad using various household items to scoop hummus into his mouth.
- jshhmr, on 10/22/2009, -6/+10Seriously? How many times a day on Digg do you read "I'm an atheist" and they begin their tantrums against God or religion? Atheists tend to be more outspoken and evangelical on Digg, like they are trying to convert the religious or agnostics. Sounds JUST like a religion to me!
