- edwartica, on 01/09/2009, -0/+22Oh, as far as the pole position ad? I remember some of my friends weren't allowed to play pole position because of that ad.
- mklopez, on 01/09/2009, -6/+28So, dear digg, how's that duplicate checker doing? any upgrades soon?

- anagoge, on 01/10/2009, -0/+11"ET is the Atari videogame cartridge which you have to buy separately to play on the Atari videogame computer system"
That commercial could actually not have been more informative. - edwartica, on 01/09/2009, -2/+11The legend of Zelda commercial may of been cheesy and just plain weird, but it worked. Every time I hear anything about the Zelda franchise, my mind flashes back to that rap.

- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8That was a ***** awesome ad.

"Mario where are you!" Now that was a trippy commercial... - KibblesnBitts, on 01/09/2009, -0/+8Grandma was a little too excited to go to the arcade....
- MedicalMatt, on 01/10/2009, -1/+8I don't get it. Each of those two links was submitted a few minutes after this one? One of those dupes was your own! What are you tying to say?
- DrMilkdad, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7They forget this guy

- toledojon, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5It'll leave skidmarks on your SOUL!!! I never realized how badass Pole Position was...
- ardembiniwoot, on 01/09/2009, -1/+5I'm gonna kill that ***** dog... If only i can grab him from the screen and beat the ***** out of him until he stops laughing...
- SpectralSounds, on 01/09/2009, -1/+5Here's a commercial for arguably the biggest video game failure ever.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfyDk5iXwi4 - Infowarsdotcom, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4This is still my favorite old school video game ad.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xi4m2qnZaY
"Double Drockon 3!" - footfwd, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4SO rad, that's when we had to use our imaginations to fill in what the graphics left out.
Except for Zelda of course, still love that game. - Garciat, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4"Woah, nice graphics!"
- kevinmotel, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3I gotta love the pole position commercial. The narrator reveals himself to be God Himself.
- footfwd, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3I remember playing that game it made no ***** sense at all. It sucked big time.
- twarner, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3What, No sega cd

deru deru! zeruda no densetsu! - slapded, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3coffee.. tea... SEGA!!!
- AnalogAssassin, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3It was horrible. The E.T. kept falling in those stupid pits. I eventually beat it, though. I got that one at the same time as Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I recently downloaded an Atari 2600 emulator and tried the E.T. game and was instantly reminded of how bad it was.
I think I got the Atari in Christmas 1981. I remember it wasn't yet called the 2600, but the "Video Computer System"
SpectralSounds, you are right, the game is possibly the biggest failure. It is the stuff of legend, as there is supposed to be a landfill of these cartridges, supposedly more of them were made than Ataris themselves.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E.T._the_Extra-Terres ... - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2I actually thought to myself, why is that lame rap #1 on the list? Then I saw the second version of the ad.
My mind was blown. - mklopez, on 01/10/2009, -1/+3Yes, it's pretty obvious that each one of us was trying to submit the story at the same time, but the "dupe checker" never bothers to tell you that, even though it's obvious the systems already knows about it (since step 1 is to provide the URL).
All I'm saying is that, after the first one (whichever it was) was completed, the other two should have been rejected. Yes, it would piss me off if, after hitting the last "Totally original" button, I would get a message like "sorry, this URL has already been submitted", but I would prefer that rather than to have a dupe in my history.
Either that or give me a DELETE button so I can remove my submission. Is that too much to ask? - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2It is 1982.
I am not shifting from there.
I have my old BMX, my Atari, and Reagan is presid..
...actually, let's stay here.. :-) - roseap, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2is that an 80 rendition of "The Phantom of the Opera" in the Centipede commerical? wow... just, wow...
- MeatyVitamin, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2lmao he took it pretty far
- electroktan, on 01/10/2009, -1/+3These commercials are a reminder of why it's no wonder it took so long for gaming to be taken seriously by adults last generation.
- ncapone, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2Tektites, Leevers, Peahats, oh my!
- fuzzynyanko, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2All 3 of the current console makers could learn from the Pole Position commerial
- bankrobbery, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2Hey! It's Bill and Te- wait a second.
I see what they did there... - johnWinston, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2Man we looked funny back then, imagine how we will look to ourselves now in the future. Baggy pants ought to make us proud in the future like bell bottoms do now.
- skellener, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1> In the 80s, video games were still new to the public...
Says who? Atari consoles had been out since '76 - Kali075, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1Yes
