- knisis, on 04/22/2009, -0/+461.5 million dollars for the most badass bunker ever? with 150 ton doors? and barely visible from outside! ill take 20!!
- Mangaroo, on 04/22/2009, -1/+38Cocaine Island (#2) looks awfully like that level from crysis
- redfred18t, on 04/22/2009, -0/+28That Missile Silo lair sounds pretty tempting. Only $3 million too
- mikemehak, on 04/22/2009, -0/+28This makes my secret layers that consisted of couch cushions, blankets and a few chairs seems kind of lame.
Speaking of which, the wife will be home from work soon and I still have to deconstruct 'camp'. - cor315, on 04/22/2009, -0/+26There are suburban houses that cost more where I live.
Anyone wanna split the cost? - Gr00ver, on 04/22/2009, -1/+18I want some of that "cheese" from Tennessee.
- hendrixlives64, on 04/22/2009, -0/+12funny how the possibilities for awesomeness increase exponentially the moment the decision is made to build your lair UNDERGROUND.
- ATL, on 06/20/2009, -0/+9the story about the drug runner who took over an island is awesome
what a life
first you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women
FTA
"a Ledher associate describes how he would be picked up at the airstrip in a Land Rover driven by naked women--which is so awesome because Land Rovers are quality vehicles. So we know he had naked women, gorgeous beaches and mountains of cocaine at his disposal. You can probably paint a picture of the average Saturday night." - skyfyre, on 04/22/2009, -0/+7Hell with all that other stuff. I just want the Land Rover full of naked women. Matter of fact, forget the Land Rover. Just give me the naked women.
- blackmesa, on 04/23/2009, -0/+7Old decomissioned missile silos and other assorted Cold War bunkers always seem like a good buy. Usually they're quite cheap (for what they are), often sold for less than $1,000,000. There are a few problems though: Usually they are flooded or on the way to flooded; it's just a downside with underground buildings past a certain age as far as I know. They're also usually suffering from structural decay to some degree ("concrete cancer" and water damage being the most common), lastly, the water supply in the area is usually contaminated with industrial waste. I'm not sure why, but that's been the case for about 75% of the silos I've seen for sale.
Beyond that, they'd also be very expensive to retrofit for living in (if you wanted even a basic level of comfort), you need to reconnect them to power, install new plumbing and hot water, do a mother of all spring cleans, decontamination, install/replace existing HVAC, and then do a non-structural refit so that it actually resembles something that can function in a role other than "Missile Silo".
So yeah.... nobody think about those places. You can't live in them, it's too much trouble. See what I just wrote there?? So, if you see one for sale, just remember "it's not worth it", and to forward me the link so that I can... research... the... uhh.... just send me the link. - 0tis, on 04/23/2009, -1/+8Austria. Australia is the one with kangaroos.
- ARTLUKM, on 04/22/2009, -1/+8Where's Bush's bunker in this list?
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -0/+6That last place is where the Stargate Command is located. You know, from the show Stargate. They should that front shot of "Cheyenne Mountain Complex" in practically every show.
- dsmx, on 04/22/2009, -0/+6Oh I get it no room for bender well I'll go build my own lunar lander with blackjack and hookers.
- Sogui, on 04/23/2009, -0/+6Watch the video, that places looks real *****. You'd need several million more just to clean the place up.
- ladbroke, on 04/22/2009, -0/+5Where's Dick Cheney's Naval Observatory Lair, with its burning moat full of rabid velociraptors and it's roving packs of three-headed dogs?
- BigVi, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4I dont know if they are still giving tours, but Cheyenne Mountain was a cool way to spend a few hours. Regardless of your age however, make sure you have a photo ID.
- vbullinger, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4Really? I've known that for quite some time.
- anarchyinthekr, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4In your face stupid robotic counting bombs!
- Balanced, on 04/22/2009, -0/+3Wasn't there a story recently that NORAD was moving operations to a much-less-cool above ground site?
- cor315, on 04/23/2009, -0/+3Sounds to me like you just wanna take it for your self.
- qwertydvorak, on 04/22/2009, -1/+4another underground pot lair:
http://www.medpot.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3 ...
"Authorities called the operation “sophisticated” because it was concealed totally underground, had electricity and water and was only accessible by an elevator that was disguised as a shower stall."
"An affidavit in the complaint says Hume and Bullington allegedly dug out a 1,000-square-foot area under a pole barn that contained three rooms for growing hydroponic (in water) marijuana and another area for cloning plants. A diesel-powered generator was hidden in a goat shed elsewhere on the property and provided electricity for the elevator, air conditioning and marijuana-growing equipment, such as lights and fans. The generator was vented through a 50-gallon drum to make it look like smoldering trash." - gojcaj, on 04/23/2009, -0/+3Fitting user name. This guy seems legit.
- vbullinger, on 04/22/2009, -0/+3Buried real hard for not mentioning David Rockefeller and Bill Gates' Doomsday Seed Vault:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svalbard_Global_Seed_ ...
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va& ... - flamov, on 04/23/2009, -0/+2#1 reminds me of Black Mesa from Half-Life.
- Rain12913, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2I believe this is the "cheese" they're referring to: http://www.marijuanareviews.com/post-pics/swiss%20 ...

- nollaig, on 04/23/2009, -0/+2or stargate...
- Vosona, on 04/23/2009, -0/+2It's the same facility, they're just moving a few things up out of the mountain. It'll be in the same location and everything.
- Josh396, on 04/22/2009, -2/+4Dugg for lockable chain link fence.
Also, does number 6 remind anyone else of Pineapple Express? - slayerbabe, on 04/23/2009, -1/+3OMG, what a great grow house
- Mawds, on 04/23/2009, -0/+2Did you hear any chevrons being encoded?
- Exhibitionist, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1Check out the movie "Blow" with Johnny Depp - it's an awesome movie and you get to see Ledher's rise to kingpin and his island retreat.

- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1Guess you've never watched Zietgiest
- Mawds, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1Yeah, maybe Seth Rogen heard about this and wrote some of it into the movie.
- cor315, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1More like Richard Cheney. Am I right!
wait.. - dharveymi, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1I want a lair. It would be totally self contained, with power coming from a damned underground stream, food from algae, underground fish. Light would come from fiber optic cables. Super computers would steal bandwidth from satellites, air and water would be passively purified and it would be spelled with a concealment spell. Well maybe that last one is a bit fanciful.
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1Well I suppose Bill Gates could be called a supervillain, but collecting a load of seeds is hardly his most dastardly accomplishment
- heavystone, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1#6. was used in Pineapple Express
#5. was used in Superman 3 - inactive, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1oops "should" = showed
