- GeoffChang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+144 For as long as I can remember, I always just assumed the Internet was a giant truck which magically delivered things all around the world- kinda like an ice-cream truck, or maybe a fire truck that's gone crazy and spreads fires instead of stopping them.
But now, thanks to Sen. Ted Stevens, I know the internet is NOT a big truck.
Finally, I know. Now, we all know. - hooksie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+102Yes, and I got it yesterday. Why?
(I know that doesn't make any sense, but then again, did Ted Stevens?) - Dradis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+103Yeah, they did.. unfortunately Outlook doesn't accept attachments greater than 5000 terabytes in size.
- DigitalWorld, on 10/12/2007, -8/+58For someone who thinks Family Guy is lame, you got the obscure reference pretty quick.
BTW, the Firetruck thing was hilarious. Get over it.
You probably didn't like Sienfeld either. - scrubadub, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48I dunno what you guys are talking about, Ted Stevens knows exactly what he's saying and is 100% correct
http://tedisright.ytmnd.com/ - hooksie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+47Its not complete unless you say "enormous amounts of material" twice
- KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -11/+34ytmnd pages on digg :/
- 0004, on 07/04/2008, -1/+21next time ask them to put the internet on a 3,5" floppy disk
my boss asked me to do that once, LOL. - graystar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20When your finished reading yesterday's internet can you remember to recycle it please?

It blew. - jollyroger814, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15You're right, its obviously not 1337 to still enjoy making fun of this. Please oh wise one of all things funny and apparently not popular show me the way.
- Clbck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@rompom7
Because it's funny....? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Does anyone have Ted Stevens email, send this to him.
- sophiaperennis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Ted Stevens, thanks for being the cause to this excellent humor outbreak!
- kahrn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Or why when I send an internet to my friend it takes so long to get to it's destination.
- phil.busch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It's from YTMND...
"YTMND, an initialism for "You're The Man Now Dog!", is an online community centered around the creation of hosted web pages featuring a juxtaposition of a single image or a simple slideshow, which may be animated and/or tiled, along with optional large zooming text, and a looping sound file." (From Wikipedia)
Knowledge ftw! - thenet411, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15That is not the point. The metaphor was WRONG. No politician should even be talking about the Internet. None of them get it or ever will. All Internet policy questions and decisions should be left to people under 35 that actually know what the Internet is and understand its impacts.
- AnteChronos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"The fire truck stocks it's pray..."
Wow, three grammatical errors in 6 words. That's a 50% failure rate. Impressive.
"Stalks", not "stocks".
"Its", not "it's" (apostrophes are NOT that difficult).
"Prey", not "pray". - designbydave, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9God bless YTMND!
- calebcharles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Sir, I still think some of the things that Monty Python did 30 odd years ago is still funny, you insensitive clod. This tubes thing has legs, so please work on some tolerance. If you are that annoyed by something only 3 weeks old, wow. Just wow. Have some Kava or something. Or wait, go for a walk and listen to the ambient noise of your enviroment. It will calm you. Unless, of course, you live in an urban, fast paced enviroment and then I understand why you need a vacation.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dugg fot YTMND
- jcmead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ thenet411
While I agree with part of your statement ( "No politician should even be talking about the Internet.") I tend to disagree with "All Internet policy questions and decisions should be left to people under 35 that actually know what the Internet is and understand its impacts.", I am well over 35 and I do know what the Internet is and I do have some understanding of its impact, on the individual and the world as a whole and would like the damned politicians to keep their hands off of it ( except to make the providers keep the promises they made on speeds. - Zuggy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NICE
- Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the only thing ted stevens knows about is how much he is getting paid by the telco's
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hahaha stupid governments with no knowledge of the internet trying to govern the internet!
LOL!
+Digg! - theDrizzle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2thank you ted stevens, for clearing up the fact that the internet is NOT a big truck, but is in fact a series of tubes..glad we got that out of the way.
- jaredkipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@thenet441, in what way is the metaphor wrong? Please PM me so we can discuss this.
- Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1maybe a direct connection (such as a lan or something) COULD be veiwed as a series of tubes (its still a poor analigy but somewhat correct) however with how the internet works, not running on direct connections its nothing like tubes, you have things like packetswitching and the like. His "internet is tubes" idea gives the impression that if you are watching a movie on youtube, ill get lag in CS because you are hogging the tubes
- jadzor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@thenet411:
You say that politicians should not be talking about the internet, however what gives you the right to talk about politics? - ihatebillg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5they are not pipes they are tubes!!!!!!!
- Harbinger67, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This should not be :(
- Himself, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sound free mirror:

- ElevenisEven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i have had more fun with this comment from ted than anything in a long time, its great to see everyone on here able to crack up at the same thing and make jokes, some of which are friggin hilarious...good job everyone
- whodere, on 08/17/2009, -0/+0Hah, tubes.
- oddcomments, on 02/28/2008, -0/+0Of course I am partial ...but the Brokeback Webpage is the best ;-)
http://www.oddcomments.com/lib/msc/404-quitYou.htm ... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4WTF is that lame *****. Nice try.
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Could never get those pages working with Firefox and Quicktime Alternative.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This tube thing is becoming very annoying, get over the tube comments littered in absolutely every comment section here. Sigh.
- MikeJo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Is that what he meant?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9lQbOr_mJpE - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6Yes, but they sent it with outlook and I can't open the ***** winmail.dat.
- karel, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3I thought background music files where a 1999 no-no. Otherwise very funny.
- liquidjill, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1The weirdest part for me was opening the page in a different tab and then waiting a bit to browse. Suddenly, barraged with the repetitive sounds of Trey I felt like I was in some weird kind of nightmare.
No digg for the Phishies. Ugh. - ddrirc, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3This can barely be classified as a video (if at all), but thanks for submitting it; got my laugh of the morning. :)
- BillDoE, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5I sent you an Internet telling you, NOT FUNNY!
- albel65, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1YESYES!
- jtjenn, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5HA! Full tubes or big truck error.
- DGRP, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2YTMND isn't even funny.
