- monkeycat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+134No the best part is when the Home Depot worker said that he needed to get out his camera to take a picture of the people walking in slow motion. Good idea buddy - take a picture of the slow motion!
- kaimoku, on 10/12/2007, -2/+94This is hilarious! I gotta say my favorite part is how the employees exaggerate how long they were in the store. You gotta love it when someone feels they need to tell the craziest story for the camera!
- shertzerj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+80Nah, the best part was when everybody froze. It'd be like being in a department store full of mannequins... only creepier.
- RaistlinMajere, on 10/12/2007, -52/+106Get a real OS, hippies!
- AstroPHX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+56I'm OS agnostic, but "Get a real OS, hippies!" is damn near the funniest thing I've read in weeks.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48says the guy on Digg.....
- julienbh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Improv Everywhere is a pretty cool way of making people laugh and making our life better. What is awesome is how many people are in that group. It really is amazing!
Gotta love what they do, even if if doesn't seem to make sense to everyone. - broken, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Youtube ftw
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=ImprovEverywhere - stan205, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39Flash mobbing is great. If only it could be put together in many different stores of the same corporate logo across the nation.
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Perhaps, they really were there for an hour...in a sense. Since time had slowed down for them, in some alternet reality, it was over an hour for some, and fifteen minutes for others.
- picaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30This is great--love these guys. The Best Buy mission mentioned in the blurb is even better, though. Check it out if you missed it the first time through on Digg:

flash 7 only - tobiasproject, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27maybe you should beat them up after football practice?
- missflibbles, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26I love these guys.
The part where they all froze was so well done it gave me goosebumps. - petroK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I love these guys...some of the performers (?) are really incredible at slowmotion movement (see sped up video)...some look incredibly natural, though they are actually going at a snails pace. Beautiful.
- dmurray14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21From what I understand, they don't really have members..they just send out a bulletin when they are in the area and call people to do it. They don't tell anyone what it is they're doing until right before they do it. I don't think they're all actors, just a lot of average people who volunteered..
- Airspeeder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21"No the best part is when the Home Depot worker said that he needed to get out his camera to take a picture of the people walking in slow motion. Good idea buddy - take a picture of the slow motion!"
That wasn't a Home Depot worker that said that. That was the guy from Improv Everywhere who was FILMING the Home Depot employees. He pretended not to be a part of the whole prank and acted like some random person who saw this happening:
"I stuck around after most of the agents had left to get reactions from the staff. I shot video with a small Cannon digital camera, claiming I was just a regular customer trying to figure out what was going on. "
RTFA. Also, most digital cameras now are capable of video capture. - jpurnell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22This is so amazing...the employees are pretty funny...I love the curmudgeon guy
- tikistyle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21This is one of the coolest group-improv events ever. If i saw this live, i would join right in! +10 points for them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I love ***** like this... can't wait until their DVD comes out (mentioned on the page).
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I am standing rght now and starting a slow clap. This is brilliant!
- OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17you belong in home depot, toolbox.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That's the best thing about these people. They don't do harmful and annoying Jackass type stunts, it's all harmless fun and in good spirits.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Hey this is a first... the customers are slower then the employees for a change!
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16^ she's the girl, you're the guy naming yourself r00t us3r ;-)
As for the video, I have to agree that the frozen part was the most impressive one. :-) - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13So uh, if you don't get it, then don't watch it, don't digg it, and shut up.
- joerod, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13i would have been so pist, slow and NYC don't go together... but still cool that someone took the time to do this.... that home depot is the first in manhattan.
- starquake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9My linux flash 7 plays it well, until the end. Firefox says that the flash7 script is making firefox slow.
- underthewether, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10the slow motion part was somewhat lame since most of the performers weren't very good at it. the frozen part was awesome, especially since they have dozens of people frozen at the same time.
- picaman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@ joerod
"slow and NYC don't go together"
Unless you're eating at a Manhattan fast food restaurant.
; ) - dweeb73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The Best Buy thing is better, only because the store management are pricks (which is the usual modus operandi for them), and called the cops who really couldnt do much about it. Awesome.
- ViRaZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8That's the cleanest Home Depot I have ever seen.
- Depthfunction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not that I'm a fan of Best Buy or anything, but in that prank, there was the possibility that the Best Buy impersonators were staging some sort of criminal activity, whereas in Home Depot, it's hard to steal stuff when you are moving in slo-mo--or not moving at all.
Very cool. This is the sort of thing that makes me wish I lived in NYC, just so that I could participate in one of these pranks. It looks like a lot of fun. - mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7This is pretty funny. I still like the one they did in Best Buy where they all wore blue shirts and khaki's.
- ochito, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Mirror for the video, anyone? YouTube or something? It won't open on my Firefox, and I do have the right flash. Maybe my corporate firewall won't let it through
- ohmytodd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was a student of Charlie Todd (the creator of ImprovEverywhere) once up at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York. They always crack me up. Really a great thing to be a part of.
- nurriz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What a great idea. Must have been great to be a part of. Good digg!
- MillenniumGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Improv Everywhere is a great idea. I really liked when they took over a Best Buy. The world needs more humor like this.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Best thing I've seen all week.
- Skunkhair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4As a faithful employee of the "Big Orange Box" ..... that was awesome!
- johal55, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6To mac0fd00m and zoombusa. Is there sand in your vagina?
- waytoorandomx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very awesome. I need to see the Best Buy thing.
- Smeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3These guys are awesome. Whenever they do something they always make me laugh.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3well they for sure have enough people to get thhis digged to the frontpage for sure ;) very interesting and i got lost on the site for about an hour.
- natedogg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's not as elaborate, but my favorite was the "Best Gig Ever"
http://www.improveverywhere.com/mission_view.php?mission_id=42
I also really liked "Ted's Birthday"
http://www.improveverywhere.com/mission_view.php?mission_id=34 - Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I kinda wanted to punch the people that didn't notice.... A bunch of people were just walking by not even looking at all the people frozen. If I was there I'd either freeze myself, or I'd be staring at the people with a wierd look on my face.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just as good as all the others...Very Funny...
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kids today...when I was a lad, we had to beat up vagrants for our kicks.
- DiMo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2these guys are pretty damn good at freezing. this is awesome
- lilibuggs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3that was pretty funny. i like the best buy one though better. where do people come up with this crap....its great
