- madpainter, on 12/15/2008, -7/+169You can't argue most of the selections, but I think I would put Marilyn Monroe #1. The issue she did is a collector's holy grail and it put Playboy on the map in a big way. Without that issue, Playboy as a magazine and a cultural phenomena might never have existed.
- franklymister, on 12/15/2008, -4/+147Really? Pamela Anderson beats Marilyn Monroe?
- inactive, on 12/15/2008, -17/+11818+ pics of Jenny McCarthy

- mlmorg, on 12/15/2008, -11/+81i think im going to start burying all askmen.com articles because of the annoying ads and unnecessary multi-page stories, sorry submitter i just don't want to give their site hits!
- wefarrell, on 12/15/2008, -6/+49Would have liked to have seen Carmen Electra in there, but I can't really argue with any of their choices. Maybe bump Anna Nicole off.
- omninode, on 12/15/2008, -5/+46Panderson is gross, if you ask me. Just gross.
- magic6435, on 12/15/2008, -3/+4010 pages to click thorough.. ***** you askmen .. no digg for you!

- Ari1, on 12/15/2008, -1/+31Pamela №1 ?! Who did this?
- franklymister, on 12/15/2008, -1/+27He's like, three hundred years old. Back in the middle ages, it was all about the blondes, apparently.
- TwineHornet, on 12/15/2008, -3/+29All of them are blond except for the last place position. I just don't know what Hef sees in blondes.
- wolfing, on 12/15/2008, -0/+24I totally agree, those 10 page (plus extra ad pages in the middle) submissions must end!
- bluebox83, on 12/15/2008, -1/+23 Marilyn Monroe trumps Pamela Anderson anyday. Pamela Anderson is a cheap version of the real thing - Marilyn
- stevensj2, on 12/15/2008, -1/+23I could have swore I counted more than 18 pictures of her... o.0
- Thuban, on 12/15/2008, -2/+22They lost me at Anna Nicole Smith
- trevorh, on 12/15/2008, -1/+20It said 18+ to me that is pretty clear.
- enochthewalker, on 12/15/2008, -0/+19I'm with this guy.
- dienaked, on 12/15/2008, -1/+19I'm not sure a 10 page slide show with ads on every page counts as an 'image' post. Try Entertainment->Celebrities next time.
- inactive, on 12/15/2008, -0/+16I agree totally. It's just as bad as Forbes.
- Taiyoryu, on 12/15/2008, -5/+20That and Pamela Anderson is not attractive. :-P

In honor of Playboy's 55th Anniversary Issue, we present the top 10 all-time Playboy models
By Malcolm MacMillan, Entertainment Correspondent
Page 1:
It was 55 years ago this week that the inaugural edition of Playboy magazine hit store shelves and launched Hugh Hefner’s vision into an empire even he likely couldn’t have dreamed of in 1953. Since then, the magazine has grown to sell more than three million copies a month, and the empire has expanded into videos as well as the web and TV. In addition to its pictorials, Playboy is known for its candid Q&A interviews, snippets of fiction writing and commentary on the hot topics of the day. However, in the end, it’s all about the women, and in the last 55 years, there have been many.
Here are the top 10 Playboy models of all time:
Page 2: Elizabeth Taylor
Best known as one of the top leading actresses in Hollywood history, the two-time Academy Award winner was featured in a Playboy pictorial in January 1963. At the time, no one was hotter on the big screen, and Playboy capitalized on Taylor’s stardom. How popular was Elizabeth Taylor? That same year, she earned $1 million for her role in Cleopatra, making her the top-paid movie star up to that point. She’s known for appearing in the magazine right at the height of her success -- just one celebrity among dozens who were signed by Playboy at just the right time.
Page 3: Catherine Deneuve
An actress, model and philanthropist, France-born Catherine Deneuve was first a star in Europe in the 1960s, but had become a household name in North America by the 1970s. She was first featured in Playboy in 1963 at the age of 20, and went on to be pictured in the magazine more than a dozen times over the next several years.
Page 4: Anna Nicole Smith
Though her life ended tragically in 2007, there’s no denying that Anna Nicole Smith was one of the top stars to grace the pages of Playboy in the 1990s. She first appeared in the magazine in 1992 using her birth name, Vickie Smith. Her success skyrocketed from there, and she was named the 1993 Playmate of the Year. At that point, she dropped the first name Vickie and became Anna Nicole. Without question, Anna Nicole Smith was one of the most-recognized Playmates of the 1990s, despite her stature, which was considerably heavier than other models in the magazine. She was routinely featured in Playboy in the years following her PMOY success, and also appeared in several special editions of the magazine throughout the remainder of the decade.
Page 5: Cindy Crawford
No model’s picture has appeared on more magazine covers than Cindy Crawford’s, who added Playboy to her resume in 1988. In doing so, she became the first supermodel to pose for the magazine. A decade later, she bared it all again -- this time, in a more-revealing photo shoot. Cindy Crawford was ranked fifth on Playboy’s 100 Sexiest Stars of the 20th Century list, and is routinely mentioned near the top of lists counting down the sexiest celebrities of the 1990s.
Page 6: Jenny McCarthy
Some women hit the pages of Playboy long after they’re stars. Others, like Jenny McCarthy, use the magazine to help them catapult to stardom. McCarthy first tried out for Playboy hoping to get money to go to nursing school, but quickly found modeling to be a more lucrative career choice. She became a Playmate of the Year and, due to her charismatic personality, coupled with her good looks, was selected as a Playboy TV hostess. Jenny McCarthy was featured in the magazine on several occasions, and her photos have also appeared in at least 15 Playboy special editions. She’s gone on to several projects since Playboy (namely poorly received TV shows), but few would argue that Playboy helped put her on the map.
Page 7: Jayne Mansfield
Blonde bombshell Jayne Mansfield was one of the top movie stars in the 1950s, rivaling Marilyn Monroe. Because of her success on the silver screen, Mansfield became one of the earliest stars of Playboy. She first posed in the magazine in 1955, and was featured in several later editions until her premature death in 1967. In the 1960s, the curvaceous Jayne Mansfield became the first leading lady to appear topless in mainstream movies, but her status as a North American sex symbol was already cemented due to her earlier appearances in Playboy.
Page 8: Bo Derek
Anyone who thinks of Bo Derek thinks of 10, her 1979 film that drove men wild. Fortunately for her fans, they didn’t have to wait long to see her in Playboy. Derek posed in the magazine for the first time a year later, and her 12-page pictorial is one of the most celebrated in the magazine’s history. She appeared in Playboy twice in 1980, and followed those pictorials up with a number of regular appearances in the next five years, making her one of the hottest models in the early 1980s.
Page 9: Ursula Andress
Perhaps the most popular woman featured in the James Bond franchise of movies, Ursula Andress augmented her sexy, famed white bikini scene in Dr. No with a series of Playboy appearances beginning three years after the film. One of the sexiest movie stars of the 1960s, Andress dated such icons as James Dean, Sean Connery and Marlon Brando, but her Playboy appearances gave men across the world a chance to enjoy what Hollywood’s top men were already seeing.
Page 10: Marilyn Monroe
Had anyone less than Marilyn Monroe graced the first cover of Playboy back in 1953, it could be argued that the magazine wouldn’t be around today. However, Monroe’s stylish beauty launched the magazine and put it on track to what it has become more than five decades later. Playboy’s first cover featured a photo of Marilyn Monroe wearing a dress with a low, risqué neckline, taken at the 1952 Miss America parade. The nude photo inside the magazine was actually taken in 1949 at a calendar shoot. In 1955, Monroe appeared on the magazine’s cover again. Long after her death, Monroe’s impact on Playboy is clear -- copies of the first edition of the magazine have sold for thousands of dollars, and the magazine has featured several pictorials of Monroe-look-alike models.
Page 11: Pamela Anderson
No Playmate has been more popular than Pamela Anderson, who has been featured on Playboy’s cover an unprecedented 12 times. First appearing in 1989, the Canadian’s Playboy career has spanned nearly two decades. She last appeared on the magazine’s cover in 2007, and has been featured in more than 20 special editions of the magazine -- including one that was entirely devoted to her photos. Pam Anderson will be remembered for many things in her career (her home video with Tommy Lee, her cheesy V.I.P. television series and her Comedy Central roast, among others) but she’ll also be considered Playboy’s premiere centerfold for decades to come. Hate her or love her, it may take another 55 years before a centerfold as popular as Pam Anderson comes along.

- IphtashuFitz, on 12/15/2008, -0/+14Buried for not being from Playboy.com but from askmen.com, and having a stupid click-through-to-see-everything-one-model-at-a-time approach.
- FearisFailure, on 12/15/2008, -2/+16I was thinking the exact same thing. How the hell does that happen.
- wynja, on 12/15/2008, -1/+14Pamela Anderson does not even register next to Marilyn Monroe. For Christ's sake Marilyn Monroe had an affair with one of the greatest presidents in American history.
- branndon, on 12/15/2008, -8/+21Dammit, why is that horse Anna always on these lists?
- GuacamoleSan, on 12/15/2008, -7/+18Bo Derek wtf? Shes not hot, there are hotter girls in my astro class than that
- honthraj, on 12/15/2008, -1/+11Buried!!!
The "top" centerfolds were not celebrities! They were the actual girls next door that definitely puts this list to shame. My first choice would be Jimmy Connors wife from 1976. - TheMandibleClaw, on 12/15/2008, -4/+14all in all ... a pretty ***** list
- whiteboyrob, on 12/15/2008, -3/+13for once I was hoping for a NSFW
- Natoration, on 12/15/2008, -3/+13Askmen.com never has their lists in one page and we get ad popups. They would suck if they didn't have lists like this
- torressr3, on 12/15/2008, -3/+13buried for lack of BOOBS!!!!
- pdt677, on 12/15/2008, -1/+11Ad revenue.
- Ph03N1X418, on 12/15/2008, -3/+12Agreed. Never found her hot.
- hydehk, on 12/15/2008, -3/+12y ppl dugg you down? its porn ffs!!
- HyphySoul, on 12/15/2008, -3/+12The first Playboy I've ever read was with Sable from the WWF, I had to steal it since I wasn't old enough...and I thought it was the hottest thing ever I've ever seen in my life back in the day
- StewMeat, on 12/15/2008, -4/+12dugg down because the site reloads the page for each model.
***** YOU!! - psingl8715, on 12/15/2008, -5/+13BOOBS
- inactive, on 12/15/2008, -0/+7In her heyday she was really hot ,but you don't really remember OJ Simpson as a Heisman Trophy winner and Nordberg in Naked Gun. Do you?
- cory849, on 12/15/2008, -0/+7I agree. Please bury this crap until they learn 2 internet.
- ldhertert, on 12/15/2008, -2/+9man, i thought you wrote that they got paid with flame throwers.
- Cybrwolf, on 12/15/2008, -4/+11Screw that, the only two women worth having, are 1. Jenny McCarthy, and 2. Cindy Crawford.
The rest can go take a flying leap! - mohsenxp, on 12/15/2008, -2/+8No, definitely the articles.
This was the worst 'top 10' anything to do with 'hot' women. I didn't see a single one.
Anna nicole smith?? Really? -
