  • cecil444, on 01/24/2008, -0/+0Actually it sounds like Mr. Williams may have confused the author. Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote a short poem which matches almost exactly to what he said:
    "First Fig"
    My candle burns at both ends;
    It will not last the night;
    But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
    It gives a lovely light.
