While Seth Macfarlane is brilliant at voices, he's mediocre at comedy writing. But I guess they're not really arguing that he's some kind of genius at writing, it's more that they're awed that he was able to get a 100m contract, despite what talents he may or may not have. And viewed from that perspective, they're kind of right - maybe he really IS a genius. On the other hand, getting frat douches to spend money isn't all that difficult.
