- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -4/+36Nice seems like a good guy. Good to see people doing good with their celebrity.
- MacBookForMe, on 07/04/2008, -4/+25Wonderful work Ryan!
- seanpackage, on 07/05/2008, -1/+21I hope his next contest is to raise money to win the absurdly retarded Red Bull chain around his neck....
- magicjohnson, on 07/05/2008, -3/+22Before I clicked on this article I was thinking, wow what a lame publicity move. Damn, I was wrong. Great job Ryan on helping to raise 200k.
- Emachine, on 07/05/2008, -2/+19If by Pimped you mean Ruined, than yes. But props to him anyway, very generous man.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -1/+18Really? I thought it was hideous. Different strokes I guess...
- 8bit_Hero, on 07/05/2008, -4/+21nice gesture but he looks like a douche
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -3/+18that's nice of him.
- Newsdude, on 07/05/2008, -3/+18It's great seeing someone doing something and asking nothing in return. Way to go Ryan!
- Blinker1315, on 07/05/2008, -4/+15Ryan Sheckler's example ought to be heeded by the multimillionaire athletes in the MLB, NFL and NBA. Some players, like David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez, are very generous, never forgetting their humble backgrounds in the Dominican Republic, but too often the guys with the big salaries become consumed with celebrity and forget what it's like to, for example, play baseball in bare feet and using a stick for a bat.
- parkskier426, on 07/05/2008, -1/+12Whatever. He still raised 200k+ for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. I wish more people would rip off the idea.
- Lionhart, on 07/05/2008, -0/+11Should be noted that the contest raised over $200,000. The winner himself raised $40,000.
- datacowboy, on 07/05/2008, -0/+10An "off the field" example of why I enjoy the X-Games so much. These athletes seem far more genuine and appreciative of their success than most of what we see in the main stream world of sport. Part of what I like most about watching these guys compete is that they genuinely want to see the next guy do a better trick and push their sport further. It's a great example of sport and competition, and how the two were meant to be approached.
- shoopdawoop, on 07/05/2008, -5/+15Nice PR move, you arrogant *****.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -4/+13Ryan is a very generous guy and this is a great story.
- Junkyardjim, on 07/05/2008, -0/+9good jesture, the kid seems like a douche, doesn't he had a "real-ality" show on mtv? where he bitches and cries because he can't have a dog (i've only seen one, and thats what happened that episode, came close to crying because his mom doesn't allow him to buy a dog)
- imhalfpirate, on 07/05/2008, -0/+8I gave him Jack and Coke when he was like 14 years old at a Red Bull party in St. Louis. He was cocky back then so I couldn't imagine what he's like today. Big Black walked in to the party and yelled "where da hoes at?" True story.
- Bulldogge16, on 07/05/2008, -6/+14Not a skate fan, and too old to be into the normal teen crap. I caught this kids show on MTV, & he is older than his years. Very impressive for a kid/man of his age.
- mahoutie, on 07/05/2008, -2/+9Generous. Pity Sheckler is such an arrogant little prick!
- AmyVernon, on 07/04/2008, -1/+8ditto
- lolroflmaoafk, on 07/05/2008, -2/+9This Range Rover is ***** disgusting. Black with BRIGHT ASS RED wheels and grill? Really? Obviously, some schmuck high school kid put this car together.
- PabloIV, on 07/05/2008, -0/+6So the guy needed to pawn off some of his crap to charity for tax purposes so he found the ugliest car in his garage and donated it.
Quite the humanitarian. - rileyhallwood, on 07/05/2008, -7/+13too bad ryan sheckler it a total ***** and turned the perception of skateboarding into a mix of laguna beach and high school musical. no one in the skateboarding community respects him and now he just gives away tonnes of stuff cause his agents think its good for his image.
- Drgn547, on 07/05/2008, -0/+6Nice gesture - Not a big fan of the red accents though, especially the grille
- oconnill, on 07/05/2008, -2/+8now all he has to do is find a "chill" girl....
- louiebaur, on 07/05/2008, -2/+7Actually he has been ripping for about 10 years now and won his first pro contest when he was 13. Had nothing to do with Hawk. You might want to brush up on your skateboarding history.
- ModernGeek, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Not only is it gas guzzling and such, the boy looks like a total toolbox. Kudos to raising money for charity though.
- willrs, on 07/05/2008, -3/+8good for him, that doesn't change the fact that the kids a ***** cocky ass douche bag, he ruined san clemente.
- tj241, on 07/05/2008, -7/+11Awesome Ryan. + Nice ride!
- defaultfilter, on 07/05/2008, -6/+10Ryan Sheckler, hero!
- pirlok, on 07/05/2008, -4/+8Great idea from Ryan Sheckler and I would like to see more like this because I am sure that there are richer persons than Ryan who can give some money for medical research.
- ramsrule94, on 07/05/2008, -1/+5It was a nice thing to do. But it is kinda lame to copy off of rob and big.
- Vladamir, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4Everyone seems to have realized the fact that this is obviously a PR move and Ryan Sheckler is a douche and all that, but I can't believe hardly anyone has mentioned how hideous that car looks.
- jmo666, on 07/05/2008, -1/+5Okay...as someone who skated for 12+ years, I cannot stand this kid. He comes off as a complete fake & a douchebag. The sport has a lot of good genuine people in it...he's NOT one of them.
HOWEVER....Let's look past the fact that he's a schmuck and look at the good in this: $200k raised for cancer research. No matter how you spin it, that is AWESOME. - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4And you're awesome, Anglemona, and I love you! :)
- DNAspark99, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3Rob Dyrdek also gave away his SUV in S01E17 of 'Rob & Big' (2007), so he may have been the first to come up with the idea. (He held a mini-skate competition against himself for it though)
- pbone, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3it was fixed when he won slam city jam. ask any pro skater that was in it that year. Eric Koston called it "the year everyone was robbed".
that kids a huge sellout. that's not skateboarding. we don't need that type of commercial ***** in skateboarding. i read in skate magazines all the time people talking crap about him. Daewon Song says he never wants anything to do with him now. - megostylez, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3when you raise more money than him in charity i guess you could call him what you want...
- hootie233, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3hes still a doushe bag
- Oddish, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3Way to make a beautiful car fugly.
- gr33nspan, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3almost dugg for hawk's *****
- slyzxx, on 07/05/2008, -1/+4awww someones jealous
- Boonharbor, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3So what he has the money to give away such possessions as that, I'm sure many people who were affected by cancer and had the money would also help fund research but for the most part many of those people are just your average American. The real heroes are those who volunteer their help at childrens' hospitals and museums on a regular basis.
- AZRoboto, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2He had to give away a car with 15mpg gas efficiency? He couldn't give the kid something he'll be able to afford with insurance and gas?
- weaponR, on 07/05/2008, -1/+3wtf you put a top gear video of a prius being driven to oblivion with a m3 (NOT an SUV...) drafting it probably not even at 2k rpm and wonder why the prius is only getting gas mileage you'd expect from the m3...Also, that has nothing to do with environmental damage or SUVs...
seriously dude, having an opinion doesn't make you cool. having a bulletproof opinion backed up with reviewed fact and critical thinking skills does.
canada sucks. see what i did there? now i just need a youtube video of top gear. - adrianmchs, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2Buried For Calling Ryan Sheckler A "Professional."
- codyman, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Kid is a douchebag, he lives a few blocks away from me (and has since he was really young - san clemente, ca)
went to school with the douche, and he is so full of himself its ridiculous.... as a "kind gesture", he gave away signed posters of himself to his fellow classmates at san clemente high school... everyone proceded to laugh / make him such the butt of jokes that he actually dropped out of the school - Awla, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Publicity stunt?
Either way, that's a very kind thing to do, even though he does look like a douche and his land rover looks like pure ass -
