- tbhurst, on 10/20/2009, -6/+58Is that supposed to be a threat or a promise?
- Makave22, on 10/20/2009, -13/+63He makes millions and he's bitching about taxes!?!?!?
- 7m7uf, on 10/20/2009, -12/+56Lower Taxes Florida! I don't want to gamble that he'll move to my state.
- niradg, on 10/21/2009, -10/+44Didn't he say the same thing about New York City? I think Rush would be happy in a lawless, taxless place like Somalia.
- clawzkatt, on 10/20/2009, -13/+42What if every US state were to raise taxes until he left?
I'd vote yes. - demonicume, on 10/21/2009, -5/+27it's the rich that always complain. you raise taxes on me making less than $100k and I get it right back in child care incentives and other tax cuts. The amount he pays is most probably 10x what I do. So cutting takes 1% is significant to him, it doesn't even warrant a look from me.
not defending him.
I'm mad that I'm in the military and I pay taxes. It'd be awesome if All of my federal taxes were returned to me considering what I do for a living. - Scottamus, on 10/20/2009, -11/+32I don't want him here. Texas is right wing enough as it is. Plus there'll be the temptation of driving to his house and kicking his ass.
- wbrns, on 10/21/2009, -3/+23I think the rest of us would be happy if that happened too.
- FuckRepublicans, on 10/21/2009, -3/+22Warning: According to international treaties, exporting Rush Limbaugh outside North America constitutes a grievous act of war (second only to Nickelback).
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -10/+27Good bye Rush!
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -4/+20Hey its Texas' turn for Rush.
- Brutusfly, on 10/21/2009, -4/+20Rush pays no more federal taxes on his first $50k than anyone else in the country. His bracket is lower now than under Reagan. I doubt he'll mention these facts on his show.
- swordedge, on 10/21/2009, -8/+24I find Rush Limbaugh very easy to ignore. Try it some time.
- zebragrrl, on 10/21/2009, -8/+23..in other news, 49 states announced that they will be raising taxes.
- BasalCellBossk, on 10/21/2009, -9/+23Rush is a god damned crybaby.
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -10/+23No, he can stay with all the other displaced idiot Republicans down here, I'll leave.
- AngryDeuce, on 10/20/2009, -14/+27***** Florida, let's make this happen on a Federal level so he leaves the country entirely.
- shauncorleone, on 10/21/2009, -4/+16Buried as "who gives a flying *****". Rush isn't going anywhere. If I wanted to read pointless speculative drivel, I'd go to TMZ.
- DankBuddz, on 10/21/2009, -4/+15"I already did. It's part of my daily routine of working for a living, providing for my family, creating jobs for others, serving my nation, and making liberals look silly."
Man, I'm jealous, sometimes I get tired of laying on the couch all day stoned, collecting government assistance. Oh, and since I'm not religious I don't have any morals at all, so I also rob and steal. I'm hoping one day that I don't even need to rob and steal, and that the government will provide me with everything I need to be the most least productive member of society possible.
Really though, why neocons think they're the only working people in the world, I'll never know. - askantik, on 10/21/2009, -4/+14No, what we need to do is somehow convince ALL 50 STATES to raise taxes. Yes...
- zoomaKabu, on 10/21/2009, -1/+11I fully support a 0% federal income tax on military salaries. It only makes sense.
- Mship, on 10/21/2009, -15/+25Yeah but you have the benefit of living in a society where you don't have to fear for your life everyday. You live in a place where you don't need to have a personal security force to protect you and you assets.
I pay my taxes and you know what I will be happy to pay more just for the benefit of being an American citizen.
We have so much more than most countries around the world but all be like you can do is bitch and complain about how high our taxes are when we pay less then other countries, who have less. - Logicexe, on 10/21/2009, -6/+15Tim, stop looking at taxes as some sort of punishment. Taxes are necessary to pay for public goods and services like the police, military, judiciary, roads, schools and healthcare (if you live in a civilized country). I'm not saying that that money isn't wasted or often spent inefficiently or ineffectively. I'm also not saying that the current methods of taxation are the best, I'm just saying that they're necessary.
Why should someone who is more financially successful pay more? Because he's benefited more from public goods and services than other people. Tax dollars from other people ensured that Mr Successful grew up in a world relatively free of crime, foreign invasion, slavery, sickness (again, if you live in a civilized country) and provided him with schools, roads, clean drinking water etc. Mr Successful would not be so successful if he had lived in a world without all those things. He has to pay more back into the system that helped make him so successful in the first place. - TheSwashbuckler, on 10/21/2009, -0/+9You can ignore Rush himself, but you can't ignore his effects...
- Rothbardosaurus, on 10/21/2009, -13/+22What complete and utter *****. Civilized society is not a result of taxation. It isn't even a result of the State. Civilized society is the cumulative result of people not killing and robbing each other. People aren't immediately predisposed to steal, kill, or destroy everything that comes before their eyes, and deterrents to those evils come in all forms, one of which being the fact that cooperative, economic interdependence is an easier route to the good life than crime in all but the most desperate scenarios.
Government holding guns to our heads is not the source of peace. Love, understanding, communication and TRADE are.
Why does everyone bitch about "monopolies" when it comes to businesses that provide goods, but give a free pass to government, a unilateral, coercive monopoly on justice itself? Not only is it a monopoly on justice services, but it is a monopoly that will HUNT YOU DOWN to make you pay for it even if you've never patronized it your whole life.
How the hell is that civilized? Its only token accountability amounts to advance auctions for stolen goods (read: elections) every couple of years.
Why are you such a big fan of such Somalia-style barbarism? Just because our tyranny can still be comfortable doesn't make it right. - EricSchC1, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8Um, didn't Texas take federal stimulus money? Very quietly, I might add.
- askantik, on 10/21/2009, -1/+9Yeah, no biggie, you just brought him up on an article that is totally unrelated to him. Heh.
- Scottamus, on 10/21/2009, -2/+10Well, conservatives are famous for being hypocrite closet homosexuals and I'm sure you'd both be in the front of the line to suck off Rush when he comes to town. And newsflash, CA is run by a republican in case you forgot. And no you can't disown your party members just cuz they're not doing a good job. Texas also produces the most windpower you tree huggers you.
BTW we ***** owned you in the last election thanks to inept Republicans driving America into a ditch. All the pissing and moaning on Fox news just goes to show conservatives cry twice as hard as any liberal I've ever seen. - joeditto, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8You have to be kidding....
Limbaugh is the demonizer...that's the only thing he knows.. - dynamojoe, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8We don't have to smear him. He does that himself (Oxy addict, makes fun of handicapped people, etc).. The scary part about Rush is that he actually has influence over the sub-100 IQ set.
BTW, calling a liberal a liberal isn't really an insult. Thanks for the cap -L, though. - zoomaKabu, on 10/21/2009, -1/+8Do you really think only Rush would move away. All of the other rich people would just sit back and take it right? The top 10% of taxpayers pay 68% of income taxes*. If you want them to move away be prepared to give up your schools, libraries, parks, and just about all government services.
*http://www.american.com/archive/2007/november-dece ... - javaeboy59, on 10/21/2009, -6/+13So he's against higher taxes. Do you blame him? The owner of the majority of my company (one of the Forbes 400, with a net worth of 1.2 Billion), just left New York State to move to Florida. He figures he saves about $5 Million a year in taxes, that is over $13,000/day. I'd move too if I could save that much money.
I love the reference to "Portly". Take a look at him. He's lost something like 85 lbs. Can we see a picture of you Mr. Francis, so we can see what kind of shape you are in? - DankBuddz, on 10/21/2009, -5/+12Go read the Bible or something.
- SteveLRowe, on 10/21/2009, -3/+9It's amazing that so many people would reduce their own income to hurt or chase off one "evil rich bastard". And that people are now thinking of taxes as punishment for not living the life you deem fit.
Lets say FL dose hike taxes, do you think Rush will be the only "evil rich" person too leave? With people like him paying almost a %40+ tax rate that's a lot less road projects and food stamps to go around.
JFK said that even though it's counter intuitive the only way to increase government revenue is by lowering taxes. This creates more spending and will bring more companies back too America. Or we can raise corporate taxes and watch Coke and Microsoft pull up stakes and leave - DankBuddz, on 10/21/2009, -1/+7Typical _________ response. What an idiot.
- nipplash, on 10/21/2009, -1/+7Too bad we can't make Canada pay for dumping their garbage, known as Nickleback on the rest of the world.
- askantik, on 10/21/2009, -3/+9lol, conservatives always say that if you don't hate all taxes then you must not be paying any. Nice.
- TheNik, on 10/21/2009, -0/+6"I already did. It's part of my daily routine of working for a living, providing for my family, creating jobs for others, serving my nation, and making liberals look silly."
No, it's party of your daily routine of being bat-***** insane. Enjoy your fairy tales and, just maybe, you should get back to work instead of posting on Digg trying to "make liberals look silly." - driftwoodtex, on 10/21/2009, -2/+8As if we would notice one more right-wing conservative christian republican gasbag here in TX.
- Logicexe, on 10/21/2009, -1/+6So I guess you completely missed this part of my post:
"I'm not saying that that money isn't wasted or often spent inefficiently or ineffectively. I'm also not saying that the current methods of taxation are the best, I'm just saying that they're necessary."
I'm not defending your government's spending. I'm defending taxes as a concept.
Maybe an analogy will help. A gun isn't evil, but in the wrong hands it can be used to commit evil actions. Same thing applies to taxation. Taxation isn't always used correctly, but it often is used to benefit people. You directly benefit from tax dollars spend on the federal, state and municipal level. Is all your money being spent effectively? No of course not, I'm not trying to say that there isn't. Do people get killed by guns? Yes, it happens every day. Does that make guns evil? No. - millixaw, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5Liberals are not scared of him. "Scared" is not the word. Irritated is more likely. He's like a large, painful pimple in the middle of your back. Nothing to be afraid of, just irritated by.
- askantik, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5In reality there isn't really any place without some kind of law. So for all intents and purposes, it's the same thing. Having no laws or having *****, piss-poor laws or having laws that aren't enforced... it basically has the same end result.
- DankBuddz, on 10/21/2009, -2/+7Uh oh, gettin' desperate now. Get a little more creative with some of these comments.
- Sarthax, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5DankBuddz "Really though, why neocons think they're the only working people in the world, I'll never know. "
It's called moral superiority. They invoke it through their religion, "morals", and "values". It's the only technique to place value on their existence and justify their actions. If you can demonize and belittle your opponents it makes it that much easier to think you hold a higher ground. - ugacrew, on 10/21/2009, -3/+8Does she realize that she is still subject to taxation even if she's living abroad? She'll have to renounce her citizenship as well to make it effective. That silly nutter.
- millixaw, on 10/21/2009, -2/+7The problem isn't that liberals don't know he's an entertainer... it's that conservatives don't know he's an entertainer.
- inactive, on 10/21/2009, -7/+12Typical responses from liberals. They "hate" Rush so much, they would be willing to put up with higher taxes, just to see him move. Talk about wealth envy. Also, the author needs to take a look at the waistline of Rush..."portly" he isn't. But, it's a democrat writing the article, and it was posted on digg.com, which is the home of displaced socialist, commie loving dirtbags that have been brainwashed into believing everything that comes from government is good, and capitalism is bad.
- askantik, on 10/21/2009, -2/+7Wtf does Rush Limbaugh do to "earn" money? Spew BS? I never knew that was a legitimate way to "earn" money.
- orlyfactor, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4Only if they had a lot of all-you-can-eat buffets.
- Logicexe, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4Are you going to address any of my points or are you going to keep pretending that I'm defending America's aggressive military policy/poor spending decisions?
