- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -1/+20Just goes to show that if your ever gonna get in a car wreck with a woman, Make sure it's your wife!
- WantToPlay, on 08/06/2008, -0/+15I hope he's doing well after his car accident.
- dbldn, on 08/06/2008, -0/+12Didn't see this writing on the wall...
- ironeus, on 08/06/2008, -1/+11I thought if anyone is an exception to Hollywood couples it's Morgan Freeman and his wife.
- BeShirtHappy, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8I know people divorce all the time...but it sad nonetheless.
- terminal157, on 08/07/2008, -0/+7"With great apprehension and humility, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman entered the court room where his wife of twenty-four years awaited her chance to denigrate his reputation and take half his stuff. With dignity, and an air of apology to those poor souls whose job it was to hear the ravings of that mad beast he once called 'wife', Morgan Freeman walked down a very different aisle from the one that began their odyssey together all those years ago. Funny how things tend to end where they began, he thought."
"Do you see that, judge? The man's a ***** loon. He narrates his entire life, and he's always the star, always the hero!"
"As Morgan Freeman sat at the defendant's table, the woman he once loved was already shouting obscenities to the judge. He put on his best long-suffering demeanor, that old mask he'd used so many times, and leveled at the judge his most formidable and knowing look. That look said, 'yes, my wife is mad. This is what I've had to put up with for twenty-seven painful years. Also, I'm wise beyond measure and you can't help but love and respect me.'"
"I can't take it anymore! Tell him to stop! He's driving me mad! What? WHAT? You can't rule in his favor, we haven't even started yet! CONTEMPT? FOR WHAT?! I'LL HAVE YOUR JOB, I'LL... GET YOUR GODDAMN HANDS OFF ME!"
"As his wife was dragged away, Morgan Freeman smiled. It wasn't a large smile, it was nothing flashy, but it was weathered and wizened, a smile that had seen too many sunsets and sunrises to recall. The eyes above that smile remained sad, yes, eyes that had seen too much suffering to ever fully recover from the tears they had wept and cringes that had forced them shut, but that smile held a powerful joy nonetheless. When, many summers ago, the rain had... excuse me? Oh, I apologize. Of course I'll sign an autograph, your honor." - Lucas123, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8Anyone know the relationship of Demaris Meyer, the woman who was in the car with him when he crashed? It was her 1997 Nissan Maxima that he flipped. It just begs the question now, considering there doesn't appear to be shred of information about her - other than she is a close family friend.
- granolajoe, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8You sir, win the Internet
- AmyVernon, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6totally
- Paulish, on 08/06/2008, -2/+8Meh, people change, values shift and it is completely normal. "Till death do us part" is really not necessary or always practical in this day and age. It is from a time when most people did not live past their 30s. Would you say that marriage should be for life if we lived 1000 years? How about 500? 250? You see where I am going? Compared to the past, Morgan Freeman has had a long and from what I can see, successful relationship.
PS: I am not hating on people with long and successful relationships, that is great also. The point is that you have to do what makes you happy (after kids are taken care of, of course). People just have different preferences. - lesleye, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6no, no, no. He's too nice. Pleasedon't shatter my illusions...
- granolajoe, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7So much for remaining faithful in the "Bucket List"
- acmaurer, on 08/06/2008, -1/+6Your comment FTW
- quomen, on 08/06/2008, -1/+6Err, so what do you know about their relationship that we don't? I hate when people talk like they know celebrities. It's like, "I'm going to miss you Heath.".... NO YOU'RE NOT.
- badbadman2, on 08/07/2008, -0/+5and a book on 'spelling for dummies'
- gllopc, on 08/06/2008, -1/+5Lucas123, I'm sorry to hijack your comment, but I just have to point this out:
To beg the question is to make a circular argument
To beget the question is to originate a question
- AmyVernon, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4i absolutely cannot argue with that.
- Lucas123, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4You know, I took a logic course in college so I knew that, but haven't thought of it that way in years. It's just become modern vernacular to use it in that context. But, you're right.
- dawgma, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4Freeman was driving when the accident occurred... he could have been upset about his marriage at the time he was driving and lost control.
- blakejohnson86, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3echo
- willierab, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3# 1 on the "Bucket List" is to get rid of the nagging wife and find some hot chicks.
- gllopc, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3I guess he decided to get busy liv'n.
- Kannebas, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3Like a twinkie... Like a twinkie...
- MrFurious2k, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3So... you're driving with a "female family friend" in good weather conditions, late in the evening, and little traffic. What do you suppose may have caused this accident?
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3I do know them both personally, and I am saddened for both of these fine and wonderful people. The divorce has been happening, privately (as it should), before this accident, so the people who are putting 2 and 2 together are getting 5 not 4.
If you REALLY respect him as an actor and as a man (he is just like you see him in interviews, only nicer), you'll give him and his wife just a modicum of respect. You know, what you'd want if you were going through a divorce.
Digg me down if that's too much to ask here. - zachimal, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3Why does it have to be "leftist?" Divorce is a terrible thing, and not from any theological standpoint but mainly because children are often involved. However, I doubt political position has anything to do with divorce. People on the right and left get divorced all the same.
I'm glad you put your input in but in my opinion you should have left the political comment out, it was unwarranted. - ObamaWins08, on 08/07/2008, -2/+4Well, I guess after finding him with another woman, she didn't feel "Wanted" anymore, and she began to be "Under Suspicion". Heck, he might not have done anything, but he is "Guilty by Association", and in his wife's eyes, he remains "Unforgiven". It's too bad, he's such a great actor, making many strides for African-Americans, almost royalty. Sort of a "Dark Knight", if you will.
Oh well, he's now "Gone, Baby, Gone", but he shouldn't have broken "The Contract". Details on the settlement weren't available, but most lawyers agree that he will get blasted and only leave with "Ten Items or Less". However, he is free and feeling rather "Unleashed".
I don't know how much his youngest kid will get, but they'll definitely be a "Million Dollar Baby".
All right, my ADD is settling in. If not for that, I could do this for hours... - publiclurker, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Obviously no spelling book was in the area.
- happyhead7, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2"you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
- boozedrinker, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Congrats friend - one of the most clever comments I've seen on here in a while!
- solesoul, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2I wish I could tell you that Morgan fought the good fight, and Myrna let him be. I wish I could tell you that, but marriage is no fairy-tale world.
- Portagine, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2I bet when his life flashed before his eyes in that car accident it flashed boobies.
- Sumtin2Say, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Is this some kind of satire?
- ninjarabbits, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2dugg for someone actually admitting he made an error and that another person is right
*waits for universe to implode* - coolearl, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Dugg down for not being able to assemble a ten word sentence.
To quote Samuel L. Jackson:
"English mother$%^&er, do you speak it?!?" - NinjaBull, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Yeah he was playing Morgan Freeman
- quomen, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Jay Leno totally used this joke after I read it on Digg. It was about the crash though. Very good job sir.
- jun2san, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2In a time...
- ScoutzMom, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2I wish I could digg you up twice for that. That was the best laugh I've had in awhile. Thank you.
- TwoFootAfro, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2What you couldn't find a way fit Shawshank in there?
- zip000, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2i absolutely cannot argue with that.
- TherealObadiah, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Sadly, you are probably right.
- jack12345678910, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2its always your spouse's friend
- adamjlynch, on 08/07/2008, -0/+224 years IS a long and successful marriage, for hollywood standards
- zadadka, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1That'll be the "Dark Knight Curse" again then......
/sarcasm - WilliamAdama, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1u actually watched that movie? lol
- swizzlestick, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Someone check the brake line.
- TherealObadiah, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1What a foolish comment. Yet it doesn't surprise me that you are repeating the leftist pap that you no doubt have been taught. So, how long is too long for a commitment? Why 30 years? Why not 30 months? I mean think of the logic. Essentially you argue that people should only commit to each other until one of them gets tired of the other. Of course any kids involved have no say in the matter and will suffer the consequences, but hey, at least your following your rutting desires, right?
According to the article, Morgan Freeman has 4 kids by two different women other than his current wife. He appears to be having an affair with another woman and is now divorcing his current wife. I'd say Morgan Freeman seems to be a fellow traveler in commitment only to self and pursuing your base desires. -
