- Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -11/+164Since she's a psychic couldn't she have foreseen someone would have registered that domain, and registered it herself first?
- Skizza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+113Apparently she phoned Network Solutions and asked the representative to register "A url with an "S" or a "C" sound in it, does this mean anything to you? I'm seeing a box of old photos on the website and the month of July has some significance".
At this point the sales rep hung up. - kevinmotel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+89If she was a psychic, she should have know the URL of the website and registered it before they could post anything she didn't want getting out.
- halytech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+70Ooops... looks like she didn't do as good a job at silencing the web site as digg did....
- Wirat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+43Looks like someone's cage has been rattled. Have to assume that she couldn't find anything factually wrong with the site so is having to scrape the barrel for anything to try and shut it down.
- dslemons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Broke after 8 comments. I bet they're over there saying, "Damn, Sylvia Browne really doesn't ***** around!" after watching their servers melt.
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27Maybe her psychic competitor foresaw that Sylvia Browne will foresee that so he registered the domain before she foresees it and register the domain for herself.
- ThinkFr33ly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Actually, being a psychic just means that you're a bit smarter than all the stupid people who believe you're a psychic.
Oh, and it also means you're an ***** that takes advantage of people. - btgoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21She can only predict 9:11pm...and often 9:11am... beyond that she makes guesses...
- theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25You know, this is digg. The word "*****" is often typed without asterisks. Hell, if you ever watch diggnation, the word "*****" is more common than "the."
Just remember, "***** means teddy bear." - Alex Albrecht. - Salgat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19If f*ckmicrosoft.com is still up...then gl sylvia browne.
- shaun1018, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"If the brilliant scientists throughout history had a James Randi negating every aspect of their work, I doubt we would have progressed very far in medicine or in any technology."
Apparently Mrs. Brown is also ignorant of the scientific method and that peer review (skeptical review by others in the same field) is part of the process. What an ignorant douche. - pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I've also yet to see her make (or even attempt to make) a contribution to medicine or technology. Other than setting it back a few decades, that is. Negative contributions don't count, Sylvia.
- MrUnderbridge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"Well if anyone else can pose an injunction for violation of a trademark in a website name, why can't she?"
Mainly because of similar decisions that hold that the cybersquatting laws apply to people trying to profit about your trademark, not to people who are trying to talk about you and have every right to do so. If the site were an adfarm, she'd probably win. Since it's (presubably, it's been nuked) a site that contains legitimate discussion about her, it would seem the author more than likely has a right to speak his mind. - brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Apparently her attorneys are unaware of this little clause in the copyright act:
"Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright."
The US needs tougher laws against frivolous lawsuits. - DurkaMcDurk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19you guys better watch out... or she'll be
in ur brainz stealin your thoughtz....
/sarcasm
"I'm seeing water, he must of drowned" - Waterispoison, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18"I am deeply offended none the less."
*****. - Jiffylush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Almost as pathetic as the people who think that some psychics aren't fake.
- shaun1018, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I bet they are really just pissed the Digg effect knocked them offline. She's a fraud, she doesn't have any powers. Her refusal of the James Randi one million dollar prize is proof enough.
- pmr12002, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11This is the full text of the letter but WARNING IT IS IN PDF FORMAT:
http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com/articles/images/browne_attempttosilence.pdf (PDF FORMAT) - longboarder543, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Surely she saw this coming. :-)
- rudy23, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15well all she needs to do is conjure up those root passwords and ask someone to do the dirty work.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You would think something as basic as fair use would be taught to everyone the very first day of law classes. Of course, if a rich old woman who resembles Bruce Vilanch offered me a pile of cash to file a bogus lawsuit, i'd probably do it.
- karel747, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I use "PDF Download" for PDFs. It's very convinient because when you click on a PDF, you get box which gives you the option to download it (via Firefox's download manager), open it (in Adobe or your default), or view it as HTML. Look it up.
- shaun1018, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7No.
- Toddzgirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That was the most amusing "legal paper" I have ever read. I'll have to print that off for my friend to read (he's a lawyer) he'll find it also amusing..Thank you Sylvia Browne and your team of 20 year old "pre-law" majors for making this Monday super special
- GMorgan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Digg has achieved what she can only dream of. Can someone link her site so she may feel the wonders of digg as well.
- Rivetgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'd love to see her in court trying to prove libel next:
"Your honor, I can prove I'm psychic.....I see a dog in your past....longish shortish hair.....he loved you very much" - skaughtm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6sylvia browne is a disgusting *****.
- iamafatguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"If she was a real psychic, she would have predicted..."
That would imply that there are real psychics.
I can't recall any with a substantiated claim that they predicted the events that occurred on 9/11. - brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Bruce Vilanch should sue her for stealing his look.
- mojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hate this fvcking fraud. Her and Montel need a serious beating.
- dhollidator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Sylvia Browne is evil incarnate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5she dugg this before the article was posted
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Psychics and Lawyers.... perfect combination!
- acceptab1euname, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Barely, actually. Try proofreading or spellchecking, it'll make you look like less of an idiot.
- SgtAl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Looks like this idiot Sylvia Browne is taking a page out of the scientology book on how to deal with critics. Anyone that believes in this psychic crap should have their head examined.
- cl0r0x70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Digg brought the site down; who needs lawyers?
- soulcutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5A trademark is not a copyright. Seems to me she'd only be able to take down somebody using her name in reference to her trade (taking money from gullible people.. err being psychic), but I'm no lawyer.
- imabot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I remember throwing up, and it looked like sylvia browne
- haveacigar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Apox on Sylvia Browne
- drdank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4On the Howard Stern show a few weeks back, they played a clip of a woman asking Sylvia Brown about her dead boyfriend. After going on and on about the boyfriend dying in water and somehow involving water, the woman says that he was an FDNY member who died in the WTC. She refused to give up the ghost and backpedal, at one point claiming that he might have drowned in the firefighting effort in the twin towers.
Fsking pathetic. Unfortunately, she's in good company of charlatans who prey on the grieving this way. - viviwanu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The bitch should be hung in Time Square.
- Surfer51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4She is a fraud.
- MAdaXe42, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Danger Will Robinson, DANGER! PDF!
Additionally, Digg uses jpegs. BEWARE THE JPEGS! - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4She's just bitter because James Randi ***** her up on a regular basis. Hell, there's a bloody "Weeks since Sylvia brown accepted the psychic challenge" clock on his website.
- Riffraffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I always thought it was spelled psychotic . . .
- karel747, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4MAdaXe42
Maybe he was warning Firefox users...PDFs used to frequently crash my Firefox, until I found the appropriate add-on. - karel747, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Anyone else seen her homepage? Physic and spiritual teacher my ass. I've seen and heard hookers who are more insightful than her, and they weren't even half as repulsive.I love how the site seems to have some angelic light cascading down on her. Too bad she's the human version of Sam the dog...
http://www.samugliestdog.com/ - rajulkabir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The main thrust of the letter was trademark, not copyright.
