- ScottMcIntyre, on 12/16/2008, -0/+48that's a real shame- Columbo was one of the iconic tv programs of the 70s. I wish him the best.
- fallenidol, on 12/16/2008, -0/+32that sucks. awesome actor.
- palehorse864, on 12/17/2008, -1/+27Now he'll keep popping in and out of the room "Just one more thing." *leaves* "just one more thing"*
In all seriousness though, I tell that joke with all due respect and hope it at least gives someone a chuckle. I love Columbo and loved his performance in The Princess Bride as well. He is an actor I always enjoy and I really hate to hear about this. - MonkeyNews, on 12/17/2008, -0/+18I would go as far to say Columbo is perhaps the greatest character in a TV show ever. I absolutely love the guy.
Some people don't like him as he is too gimmicky - with the cigar, dog and catchphrases but this is why we love him.
Forget your modern crime "gritty" dramas like CSI - Colombo beats them all hands down.
As a tribute:

- GoingPostal, on 12/16/2008, -0/+17Columbo was the only cop show I would watch during the 70's.
Check out the movie 'The In-Laws' with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. He was a brillant actor. - babydick, on 12/17/2008, -0/+17I hope you're 10 or something, or you gotta be ***** kidding me
- getbusyliving, on 12/17/2008, -0/+14"Oh and, ahh, one other thing..."
- wastelander, on 12/17/2008, -0/+13Bah.. he doesn't have Alzheimer s, he's just playing dumb.
- jvincent08, on 12/17/2008, -0/+13.......
"Is this a kissing book?" - inactive, on 12/17/2008, -1/+13I've never heard of Peter Falk before (I'm British and 16), but from the comments he appears to be a very talented and respected actor. It's always a shame that the best get Alzheimer's, like Terry Pratchet.
- SuperStromboli, on 12/17/2008, -0/+9"ARE YOU KIDDING?! Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, pirates, true love!"
- DredPir8Robrts, on 12/17/2008, -0/+8"Does it have any sports in it?"
- hardcrocodile, on 12/16/2008, -0/+7I almost submitted it, but this TMZ story was already up. Anyway, read this one instead:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebri ... - JDReasor, on 12/17/2008, -0/+7I feel for him and his family, the next couple of years will be difficult for them. He was a great actor who could get you into the story he was telling.
- matrim2217, on 12/16/2008, -3/+9Want to bury because it's from TMZ.... Want to Digg out of pity for the man and his family... will have to settle for doing nothing. Yes, that makes me feel better about myself.
- dontaskagain, on 12/17/2008, -1/+7All you ever will need to know about Peter Falk http://tinyurl.com/56hx9q
- jdago, on 12/17/2008, -0/+6he was a great actor. still watch all his re-runs whenever they are on. COLUMBO WAS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE DETECTIVE SHOW. my prayers go out to him and his family. and all families that are dealing with such an awful sickness.
- br0ken1128, on 12/17/2008, -0/+6Amazing to me, I just saw him make an appearance at some event seems like only a few months ago and I was amazed at how sharp the man seemed to be.. IMDB shows he is in post production on a new film called American Cowslip, and he was in "Next" last year .. I can't imagine from the last few times I've seen him that he's degraded to this level ..
Clearly he's still acting .. - zippy757, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4ass
- mcdropkicker, on 12/18/2008, -0/+4 - Peter Falk
- drunkenoaf, on 12/17/2008, -1/+5I was at the Society for Neuroscience conference in 2006. I the social events was "Alzheimer's Karaoke". I imagined some old Neuroscience professor going up on stage in the bar and singing (like Grandpa Simpson):
"Unforgettable, that's what you are...
Hello. Where am I. Are you my son?" - SurrealDream, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4I watched the Princess Bride for the first time last month. I'm 22. It was awesome.
- Elohir, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4I agree. There's nothing funny about someone with Alzheimers.
Unless it's a clown. - DigitalBrian, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4At Least he got it late in life :( damn Alzheimers
- zip000, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3CSI is gritty?
I don't know I never watched it, but it looks ridiculous not gritty. - inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3 Ohh Miss Turner, just one other thing if you don't mind. Would it be OK if I asked you a few questions?
- CTK14A, on 12/17/2008, -1/+4If you agree that TMZ and the paparazzi are a horrible reflection on humanity -- especially considering that they profit and thrive on condescension and the viewership of the average joe -- don't click the link, and reserve some dignity for yourself and Mr. Falk.
If you don't particularly care about that, and believe this to be a newsworthy story, you have the option of seeing what Alzheimers does to people.
http://tinyurl.com/67evar - bluebox83, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3Peter Falk made being a detective cool! Columbo is a classic!
- StewMeat, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3Columbo was and still is awesome. Even though you know that the perp was going to treat Columbo like a bumbling dolt and you know Columbo is going to find the evidence to get the arrest, how you got there was one fun ride.
and one more thing...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXlUzu2SPkY - seanovan, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3You were being a tool.
- inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3Not only is Falk a talented character actor, he should be remembered as a very skilled dramatic & comedic actor as well. He's mostly remembered for the Columbo role, and to be fair he did a ***** of Columbo shows and specials, but had a pretty varied career with some very memorable performances in other movies and shows aside from all of that.
- peterinjapan, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3Incidentally he's very famous in Japan, and I still see his movies on the air late at night. Thanks for keepin' it real, Peter.
- misterparry, on 12/18/2008, -0/+2Columbo's next case....figuring out the cure to this horrible disease
- inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Oh, nobody. He's only won the Emmy Award on five occasions, won the Golden Globe award and been Academy Award-nominated twice.
- MazdaEric, on 12/17/2008, -1/+3I think any research on weed from OSU should be taken with a gram of weed
- inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2good luck
- arcangelgabriel, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Best laugh so far. :) My hat's off.
- lebondarken, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Doesn't it always.
- doctechnical, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Alas, Max is no longer able to push the button. That's a shame.
- rickriggs, on 12/17/2008, -5/+7What a great guy, I once meet him on the set of Columbo, It was brief but a very nice fellow!
- SawButter, on 12/18/2008, -0/+2Who the ***** am i ?
- rondobbs, on 12/18/2008, -0/+2Another thing. He was(is) a great actor and Columbo was classic TV. Sorry to hear this.
- MrFurious2k, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Here is a tip for would be criminals. If Columbo starts asking you questions... wait... I mean really WAIT... before you try and dispose of evidence. He's going to come back about 30 seconds later. You can thank me later.
- skaughtm, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2don't forget his incredible work with john casavettes. more than likely owes a great deal of his chops to john. check out a woman under the influence or husbands.
- djdavetrouble, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Not to mention the incredible Wings of Desire, a Wim Wenders movie which indirectly pays homage to that legacy. In the story, Peter was once an angel that became a human.
- Clinojim, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2But now he'll say that over and over and ask the same question every time.
- CLAWC, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2That's kinda ironic. Didn't he do the voiceover for that Alzheimer's medicine (the one where the old couple is dancing and once of them is reminiscing years back on the same beach where they got married or had a party)? Peter is a cool guy.
- inactive, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2What does Dragonball Z have to do with anything?
