I get a strong Jennifer Jason Leigh vibe with him, as in an actor who does technically good (but showy) acting work that wins accolades but rarely feels real.

        And Hoffman does go on and on about all that "actor's craft" stuff, and that would be irritating to listen to. Hey, your IT guy or dry cleaner may have difficult jobs, but how much would you tolerate them constantly reminding you of it? What if your IT guy or dry cleaner also got tons of accolades and millions of dollars for their work? Then their non-stop droning on about the difficulty of their craft would seem pompous.

But then again I could be being biased because I am an aspiring actor, so I up to actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman. He does something that I love doing and it intrigues me.

    Off hand, Philip Seymour Hoffman actually is a nice enough guy - plus he has the brains to humbly take small roles and make them amazing. Rather than this ***** blogger who takes an easy target topic and practically ass rapes himself with it.

The writer is guilty of thinking of these people as meat: not recognizing the fact that each individual person has a legitimate existence. It's shallow dismissal of some and it's caustic judgement of others is based around the fact that these people are famous and so deserve some sort of ridicule: which is an utter absurdity.

    The author comes off as seeming petty, jealous and pathetic to a far greater degree than his supposed targets. This article succeeds only in showing a person who is so petty they have to put down others in order to justify their own existence. And unlike the author has for his targets, I have sympathy for his self-delusions.

Great actors in general talk about acting like it's next to Godliness but even as actor go, Hoffman and Penn seem particularly down to earth.
