- MajorD, on 10/12/2007, -5/+163You know what, Pauly's stage gig is pretty damned funny if you've ever seen him. This is some ludicrous ***** and I hope the guy who walked up on stage and punched Pauly gets some charges pressed against him.

First, saying we are all retarded shows that you are probably in high school. If not, you obviously have the mentality of a high school kid. Secondly, there are rednecks everywhere. Try Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia. Thirdly, if you live in a city in the south (such as Memphis, Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, etc.) it is just like living in a city in the north. Only difference is everything costs less.
But hey, go ahead thinking that. I don't want people like you coming down here anyway.

This just goes to show you that people need to lighten up! If you don't like the guy, don't go to his show. If you go and realize you don't like the guy, get out and go somewhere else! Damn cowboys think they can do anything these days. I would've said the same ***** that Shore did about them being white trash assholes. You go to a comedy routine to see performers, not to yap loudly when you're 2 feet from the stage.

I don't think anyones personal worth can be measured by what they do or don't do that someone else agrees or disagrees with... that's just an opinion. Would I have hit him? - crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13@ sinner (yes another reply to his comment)
First off, I agree there are plenty of "retarded, ill mannered assholes with temper tantrums, trying to prove how tough they are with some kind of caveman mentality" here in the South. However, saying the majority of Southerners fall into this category is completely illogical and wrong. The thing is that no one remembers the quiet Southerners that are doing their best to get things done in this life. It is the same concept as Islam being portrayed as a violent religion when a handful of its followers strap explosives to their chests.
Now, as for this remark : "I swear the south & southwest are about 50 years behind the rest of the country, on the educational & psychological level." There is probably much truth to that statement. Of the 124 people that I graduated high school with in rural Alabama, less than 20 of them have found their way to a four year university. The majority of my graduating class went to work after graduating. There was no emphasis put on college so no one felt like they were expected to go to the next level (unless their parents went to college).
Finally, it is much easier for people to point fingers at the South and laugh at the drunken rednecks that have never heard of a 401k. I say this to you though, why not try to help out your fellow citizen? I wish the government were in a position that it could effectively start a Revisiting the Reconstruction program for the South. I know in the state of Alabama, the public school systems are some of the worst in the country. There is no way for improvement either because the state has no budget or plan to make it better. Basically, we just need some outside help. This could possibly be a way for the Democrats to win some of the Southern Christian votes that we are always complaining about.
Sorry for the soap box tangent. - loconet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I can't believe they were yelling at him telling him to hit him! Bunch of idiots.

no more or no less than any other pace in the world. Assuming that most racism is in the south is very ignorant. - VRFour, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7How the hell does a bigot making generalizations about the entire south and southwest get 98+ diggs? Those of you that dugg his comment should be ashamed of yourself.
- CircleFusion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't agree that everyone in the south is a dumb macho hick like this guy (and evidently some of those who were in the crowd that night).
But I do think that too most people in the south are tolerant and accepting, if not supportive, of the "macho cowboy" type of behavior that this guy demonstrated. That is very much a part of the south. I would guess that most people in Texas would be in defense of the guy who attacked Pauly Shore, saying that Pauly Shore was asking for it or something.
If you live in the South, try not to defend it by pretending that all southern people are well-mannered ladies and gentleman, because you have to at least be aware of the impression that I'm talking about. Try to be the exception.
- robert314, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19That guy was pretty ***** big though.. I definitely wouldn't want to get stuck in the face by him either. I'm sure he'll do some jail time for hitting Pauly Shore.. Who knows, he might even get free cigarettes in jail for it.

What is the world coming to when one cannot get in a simple fist fight without automatically called a piece of trash. I must assume that most of the detractors on this page have never even been in a fight, else they would know the satisfaction of giving someone a quick one. I agree that it is better to solve problems with words, but to quote Mal Reynolds, "You are never supposed to hit a man with a closed fist, but from time to time, it is hilarious!" What is it with the rash of Heckler news lately? Are drunken assholes reproducing at some exponential rate? Or has there just been some kind of massive social disconnect forming in our culture, where we've lost the concept of willingly paying a few bucks to sit down and listen to someone else talk for a length? Yes, you paid "good money" to gulp down overpriced drinks and sit in uncomfortable chairs while some two-bit hacks tell the same jokes about their wives and television shows, but you didn't buy the right to shout and carry on like a dumb *****. - shadus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21> What is it with the rash of Heckler news lately?
> Are drunken assholes reproducing at some exponential rate?
They always have, the rate people seem to reproduce is generally inversely proportional to their worth (financial, scientific contributions, ... etc). Eg: Einstein... no kids, uneducated jobless society leaching trash... 20 kids. Not always the case of course, but often enough that it usually applies.
@yensed: You need to re-read his comment. You misread it entirely. - benijuana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14@yensed
i dont think he said anything remotely close to what you're accusing him of... learn to read - alexthemonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15yensed:
I said just the opposite. Shore's not funny, but that's no excuse for assaulting him and treating him like *****. I think he's a decent guy, just not a worthwhile comedian. - gcauthon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you're psychically assaulted then it's probably not because of your lack of humor. In fact, it may have something to do with mind altering drugs and/or hallucinogens. Remember kids, don't do drugs and you won't be psychically attacked.
- naiku, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16i thought people in texas shot eachother.
- JAVandiver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7WE DO!
That is part of the fun!
- JAVandiver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7WE DO!
- Flufflebuns, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32Dude, how can the audience actually think it's funny that Pauly Shore was punched out? Yeah sure, so Pauly Shore is "washed up," but in his prime he was hysterical, Jury Duty, Bio-Dome, SON-IN-LAW, c'mon people, no sarcasm here, they are classics. Sure he had same character over and over, but he made people laugh.
How is it now funny that some complete redneck white trash piece of ***** with a cowboy hat and a raging anger problem punched him. I mean, in hindsight a lot of ***** from the 80's and 90's was stupid, but does that mean we should now hate what we once adored? (Well maybe they don't have a sense of humor in Texas).
This incident is a horrible reflection of the violent society of the U.S. I'm sure Pauly Shore is a more decent human being than any of the pricks in that audience, if not in the whole ***** redneck state of Texas (Okay maybe the city he was in, because there are definitely nice parts of Texas).- alexthemonster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It's like I'm trapped in limbo reading this. I agree fully with your point, but your basis for this argument is infuriatingly stupid.
- socbret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yeah, go to Dallas, Austin or San Antonio and most people in the city aren't like this at all. This was the same city Friday Night Lights was based in so...it's pretty much an accurate depiction of small town Texas, which are all filled with these assholes (for the most part)
- bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Absolutely fluffle buns...
Pauly Shore Haters, Bellbottom Pant Denyers... Mullet Mockers...
You're all out of your ***** tree... do you know how ridiculous the "Mock Hawk" will be in 5 years? So ***** what! thats what society is all about.. change...
Don't hate what we once loved... it's part of our life, and I thank Pauly Shore for all his juvenile humour that made me laugh while I was growing up...
"hating pauly shore" will be remembered alongside "chuck norris jokes" for lame early 2000 fashions... It was funny for a moment on futurama, but when people are too afraid to admit he made them laugh it does Mr Shore a grave misjustice
- betacmag4u, on 10/12/2007, -3/+66why can't this happen to Kevin Federline?
- AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That was probably the best part of the episode of CSI that Fed-Ex was on a couple of months ago. He was heckling the CSI guys as they were cleaning up a crime scene, and George Eads' character flat clocked him. Freakin' great.
- ckinney23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2That's...pretty sad...
- foxymcfox, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2"Hoss" definitely looked like a plant/shill/confederate/stooge/accomplice/what-have-you, and that punch doesn't even looked like it landed...
- PasteEater, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Not even Michael Richards got hit!
- daeyeth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20um, to be honest, I feel really bad for Pauly. I thought it was gonna be more funny than shocking. When I watched it I was just like "OH *****"
- Garaphin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Sad. Odessa should be collectively ashamed that they're tied to this. Hope Pauly is ok.
Feeling sickened that people cheered this kind of behavior. :( - bbkj1211, on 10/12/2007, -17/+2This was completely staged by Pauly.
The comedy club has a Myspace page, an attendant left a comment that says it was staged.
"You are great..Thanks for bringing Pauly Shore to Odessa..It was awesome..my son n law(Travis) was the one with the cowboy hat on that did the "acting" with Pauly..LOL..can't wait to go back to see the comedy club..first time thing for me and won't but the last..thanks for the good time..."
http://www.myspace.com/magicrob75- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14It doesn't seem very staged to me. If it was staged, he'd be throwing more insults at the end to justify the coming punch instead of backing away somewhat scared while saying "Sorry"
I mean, seriously, there's absolutely nothing funny about attacking a comedian at a comedy club who wants nothing to do with fighting you. It's insane, the people laughing in the video are subhuman. - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Hard to believe it was staged when nothing came of it. Pauly just gets the ***** out of there. If it was staged, there would be some kind of joke or something afterwards. Anything other than leaving.
- fireball74, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Notice how acting is in parentheses? That's something some people do when they don't exactly mean it, at least where I come from.
As a Texan, that redneck ***** needs a lesson in manners. You go to the club, any club, to have fun and not cause trouble. Last I checked, assault was still illegal in Texas. I hope they locked him up with bubba that made him "comfortable" for the duration of his stay. It was uncalled for. - nyccharlie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1you all have to remember that paulie is an actor as well, albeit a bad one, but still an actor.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14It doesn't seem very staged to me. If it was staged, he'd be throwing more insults at the end to justify the coming punch instead of backing away somewhat scared while saying "Sorry"
- DataLifePlus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23That dude should be in jail and that club should have to make a big payout to Pauly Shore for not providing proper security (assuming it was in the contract).
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2 @nycharlie
dont you mean y'all..... :-)
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2 @nycharlie
- redban2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13not staged it was verified by other comedians and the club owner by me and Joe Rogan
- abacadabbra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2did this just happen i've looked around and there's no follow up information on the net. what about before the video started what was said then? or what about the guy who hit him did he go to jail?
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3from what i can gather from this unbelievably long thread......
liar liar pants on fire! - einsteindesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Staged, as TMZ reports a cop confirmed he was "in" on the gag, approached by Shore before the show.
http://www.tmz.com/2006/12/12/cops-say-pauly-shore-video-a-fake/
- bbkj1211, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2with all the heckling in the news lately, it's not really far-fetched to believe that it's staged.
- thasmadawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17At first I thought this was going to be funny, and something he deserved. That was totally ***** uncalled for. The cowboy looking douchebag thought he'd be a hero if he hit him since everyone was chanting it. ***** the crowd for cheering while he was down too. Poor guy. Even carrot top wouldn't deserve this.
- muvment256, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17i agree with you up until the carrot top part.
- thasmadawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I dont know, its arguable if ***** comedians should even be boo'ed, given that you're not forced to go to a comedy club. As for brokeback mountain on steroids, even if Pauly said anything to offend him, you'd think anyone stupid enough to come up on stage and hit a random comedian would take "haus" as a compliment.
- ascheinberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Have you actually seen Carrot Top lately? He's ***** ripped. He looks like a girl's doll head on the body of a He-Man action figure. I doubt this could happen to him now.
- somebitches, on 10/12/2007, -16/+23All Texans are *****, period.
- spookshowbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Just because I have a ***** doesn't mean I am a *****. I've lived in Texas for nearly 5 years, and while it was a bit of a culture shock, not everyone in Texas is like this. Maybe everyone in your state, whichever it may be, is a *****. Maybe all Americans are *****?
- wiggimt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@some
No, we're not.
- xrisnothing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Why on earth would pauly do a show way the hell out in west texas?
- socbret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Occassionally some big names do show's out there, Jeff Tweedy is doing a solo show in Marfa, TX coming up, but then again from what I know Marfa is a tiny blue dot in west TX's sea of red. He's doing it because he's can play wherever he wants though, I'm sure most clubs aren't chomping at the bit to get Pauly Shore on the bill.
- Wagnel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'm from Odessa, and I am ashamed.
- baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12Texas is a pretty cool place. too bad all the people suck.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12All the people? Do you even know all the people in Texas?
- Orchyre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is just not a good couple of months to be a comedian.
- WaltDismal, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17Q. So, Pauly Shore, Carrot Top, Kevin Federline, and Ashlee Simpson are on a plane. It crashes and burns on landing. Who is saved?
A. ...generations of viewing audiences...- jonathantneal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nah, Pauly Shore is above them, come on. One of the biggest differences is that Pauly Shore doesn't have a douche-ridden self-righteousness complex. But okay, when his joke starts skipping during the live performance, then, then maybe you've got something.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I don't think you'd be complaining if you ended up on a deserted island with Ashlee Simpson.
- jarvuss, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17Born and raised in Texas... and next week I'm moving out of Texas. Now I will no longer be associated with these rednecks.
- geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -12/+17Texas, where ignorance is not only appreciated, it's encouraged. Notice how this isn't isolated. All of the ignorant Texans laughed and clapped at this wonderful display of ignorance and stupidity. And I wasn't surprised to hear Texan ladies laugh. They are the most repulsive of human beings if you have ever met one. Fake, stupid, ignorant and no class to go with that big fake hair. I have seen the depths of Texan ignorance and I'll never look back.
- hpkomic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Is it me or have there been a lot of stories about stand up comedians getting crap from hecklers as of late? I mean, Michael Richards, then this where there is actual physical violence? Hell, I've seen a few other stories over the past few weeks involving stand up comedians and some ***** in the audience.
Are people going to these shows to stir up ***** on purpose? - maddla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://existenz.defamer.com/hollywood/pauly-shore/pauly-shore-vs-the-angry-heckler-221024.php
here is another article... this happened on the 8th so the papers will register online by tommorrow with a real article and maybe even a police report :) - fateless115, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Anyone else see that myspace that one guy posted (http://www.myspace.com/magicrob75 (the owner of the club in odessa)) and pauly shores myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/paulyshore ) have each other as their top friend and in none of pauly's comments about the odessa show mention him getting knocked out. Just throwin that out there
- bbkj1211, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6no one wants to listen to the possibility of this being planned by pauly. i think it's a perfect comedy bit considering all of the stand-up crap in the news lately.
digg me down, sheep! - richpav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It would be bad business for the owner of the club if his place got a worldwide reputation for not being a fun place to be.
Rednecks like that are just one more reason why I'm glad to be living in Japan. - hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@'fateless115 youre right

- PradaPete, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8this video sums up why America pretty much has all the terrorism coming it's way. It's full of aggressive trash.
- fufubag, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Jealousy is a stinky cologne.
- dlbear, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Good quote fufubag
- omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'm no fan of Pauly Shore, but if you want to talk during a comedy show, then you should become a comedian. Otherwise shut up and enjoy the show.
- mapkinase, on 10/12/2007, -33/+2I think that is rightful response for profanities spewed from that filthy mouth in public.
The guy thought he has an advantage - the microphone, the decibels.
Most of stand-up comedians are just trash talking low-lifes.
Well done, Texas.- dext3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Don't *****' go to the goddamn *****-***** show then.
- Shadewell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Your an idiot.
- whiskeysquared, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8You are a moron. I hope natural selection finds you before you breed.
- mem2, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Unfortunately due to unprecedented inbreeding in Texas they have actually managed to create....
"Redneck Mark 2"
- Dumber, Stronger, more Homophobic but yet still the conflicting urge to rape "City Men *spit*". - milk93rd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, too ***** bad you don't have the ***** decibels on your side, too
Those ***** decibels are badass, bitch. ***** some ***** up.
- Foenetik, on 10/12/2007, -19/+10What's the ***** is up with digg and Texan bashing? Way to come off sounding like some ignorant assclowns.
- geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17That's because people like me know the real texas. You want to act like this is an isolated incident despite the patrons egging this guy on, those who have lived in Texas and have moved out know differently. Texas (minus the small urban areas of Austin) is very deserving of contempt. In California we don't beat up our comedians, we shun them like civilized people do.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -16/+8@ geronimo
Way to play the part of the arrogant, self righteous prick. You really belong in California.
Not everyone in Texas is a drunken redneck looking for a fight. - geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15This is all I'll say about Texas because I went there with an open mind and have lived in many places not including the USA so you can take this either as an insult or as an insight. Of course the statement "100% of Texans are ignorant dumbasses" is untrue. If only 1 of them were a decent human being then that would be false despite 99.9999% of Texans being disgusting people. One thing is certain, a huge percentage of Texans are ignorant hateful passive aggressive jerks. I've seen gay people marching in Texas being attacked, high school kids slapped for holding hands. California, far from perfect, has its share of superficial jerks which can compare to the Dallas big hair shopaholic culture. But the difference is one culture values ignorance, the other does not. Although I'm happy about AMD and Austin, this is a small percentage of Texas that ironically Texans try to gerrymander out of existence. One diamond in the rough and you guys try to kill it.
I'll take the new age spiritual crystal-loving hippies in California any day of the week. - DigiRaven, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7 geronimo
Or maybe the reason why you see Texans as jerks is probably you come off as a jerk to them. You probably showed your true colors as being an elitist and you assumed anyone from texas is below you. Therefore you come across as a jerk to the texans and hence that you see them as jerks.
What goes around comes around. Have fun in cali. - CircleFusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damnit, will all of the people from Texas on Digg please STOP DEFENDING TEXAS? While all of the hyperbolic blanket statements about "All Texans are stupid hicks" and similar statements are obviously not accurate, you have to admit that Texas has its full share of ***** macho wannabe cowboys. Texas gives off an image of pride and arrogance of its own. Even the unofficial state motto is "Don't mess with Texas". C'mon. Seriously. I've lived in Texas for a year. You aren't fooling anyone. Stop defending the place. If you really care about the place, then take a good look around and try to change things.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -12/+10I don't agree with hitting someone just because you don't like what they have to say, but I also don't agree with panning the whole of the Texas population for the actions of a room full of drunken rednecks.
- mossman93, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3He hit the guy because he insulted him. Nothing wrong with that.
- nurriz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Are you retarded?
In what way is it ok to hit someone who insulted you? If you go to see a stand-up show, you don't get all aggressive if the performer makes a joke about you or insults you. It's pretty much standard. - whiskeysquared, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8When the whole state is pretty much comprised of a bunch of drunken rednecks... Texas is one of those places where stereotypes actually come true.
