Frankly I still can't figure out why anyone supports McCain. He betrayed the country as a POW when he helped the enemy with their propaganda and actions within his POW Camp. He's lied about how he planned on running his campaign. In the beginning he said that he planned to run a clean campaign, but as soon as his odds looked bad, he started slinging mud just like the rest of them. And finally he's so close to Bush on so many issues we might as well be voting bush back into office by voting for McCain.
With all of those on hand I can't figure out why people support someone like McCain, Huckabee, and Romney.

Also, McCain's made appearances on the daily show and such (long before his presidential bid) and was a pretty funny guy, and an obvious moderate. Moderate > Liberal or Conservative.

- charm803, on 08/10/2008, -0/+7You should be directing that question at McCain, seeing that he brought her into it.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/10/2008, -0/+5I never hated on Paris. I've always thought the people who have a huge issue with her, would have a huge issue with whomever the Media needed to follow. Hilton has been boorish and silly for the paparazzi -- I don't blame her for making the money taking advantage of the fact that the media needs some girl of lose morals so that people who read tabloids can get disgusted.
If it weren't Paris it would be Brittany, or someone else.

The fact that it bashes McCain who's really blowing it in his campaign is all the better.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/10/2008, -1/+18It shows she knows how to be classy when she wants to be. Because she chooses to act like a trampy socialite, doesn't mean that there isn't more too her. Seems like she is having fun with it.
McCain just underestimated her, and believed all the tabloid hype.- MadOgre, on 08/10/2008, -1/+4Which is why she did the bit in a swimsuit. She's just that classy.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1She is making a mockery of the "white haired guy" comments. The press polishes the moronic statements and treats them as if McCain is someone who should be listened to.

p.s. Is it these McCain stooges we've been hearing about making all the dumb comments?- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/10/2008, -6/+2Go check McCain's website for the talking points. I'm guessing they are going to be similar.
More McCain points!
Like this was going to work? Don't they know that the people who need someone to tell them what to say, are always 3 clicks behind the people who get their news from the Internet and would learn about this? - jorichter, on 08/10/2008, -3/+1I see what your saying and agree, my biggest problem is that, while things like this are funny people are going to talk it to death and ruin it.
As far as I'm concerned it was a good video (mostly good writers) but it should be done now. I really don't want to keep hearing about it and it become the new meme that people use to death.
So it's done, lets all let it go. We don't need updates everyday on how many people have watched it etc.
So good work to all those involved in it, but no more please. I'm sure I'll get dugg down for this but whatever someone should say it.

I've been trying pretty hard to stay on top of this campaign, and for the past week this has come up over and over. So not only am I barraged with Paris, I get the bonus of anchorpeople adding their own stupid little quips after playing it. 'Say what you will about her, that energy plan was....wait for it....HOT.' *nasally broadcast personality chuckle*
- EnderMB, on 08/10/2008, -5/+67I'm going to get buried for this, but I've never really had a problem with Paris Hilton.
The only reason everyone hates her so much is because her publicist makes them. She's famous for this exact reason! She's almost like the enemy in a children's pantomime; the character that everyone boos at when they come on stage. Regardless of 'unpopularity' she is extremely famous and wealthy because of it.
Sure, she's starred in a sex tape, gone to jail and never done a honest days work in her life, but so what? If you were rich from birth would the things you've accomplished mean as much to you? I see no problem with her having a bit of fun while she's still young, even if the tabloids follow her like a fly on *****. It's easy for me to say that I would buy the best education I could afford with her money and walk out with my PhD in Computer Science but that's only because that's what I've been raised to think is the best outcome for me.
That being said I don't blame the public for hating her. It's just what they've been told to do.- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/10/2008, -2/+11Totally agree.
If it weren't Paris on the tabloids it would be whichever girl had lose morals and needed attention to fill the need for moral outrage. Paris just gets the joke and is having fun with it -- she manipulates the media, and they don't care as long as they sell papers.
People spend WAY too much time and outrage against Paris and Tina Tequila, and whomever else that is tweaking their outrage. Probably because they are very lose, but not so very lose as to have sex with the person having all the outrage.
But, all you folks who support unlimited wealth; welcome to the spoiled gentry.- nighthwk1, on 08/10/2008, -4/+1buried for 'lose morals'

- jstarlee, on 08/10/2008, -3/+1Being rich doesn't mean you have to be ignorant (though very hard if you are raised that way.) There are quite a few rulers throughout world history who are not "spoiled" by their wealthiness.
- p4r4d0x, on 08/10/2008, -1/+2Mind expanding stuff.
- heavystone, on 08/10/2008, -2/+5My parents are what people consider rich making millions a year, but they have NEVER given me anything. I had to make my own way 100%. Job wise, education, housing/apartment bills etc etc.
I don't hate them for it at all. I actually love them more because of it. I have tons of REAL friends instead of false rich kids like Paris is surrounded with.
It's not that Paris is a bad person, it's her parents that are really bad. Giving in to everything. Yes she makes millions now, but her parents bought her everything her little heart wanted, creating the posh bitch she is now. And gave her the money to do whatever she wanted.- EnderMB, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't say that her parents are bad for giving her money. If you had ever witnessed the hardships that some face on little to no money then I'd assume that you'd give your kids every advantage in life. I'm sure that it was never their intention for this all to happen, nor was it for this cult of useless celebrities to swarm the world, providing their daughter with a pedestal to climb to be the best of the worst.
If I were rich then I would give my children every advantage in life, as well as rewarding what would've made me successful (education, healthcare, etc).
It's good to see people making it on their own from privileged backgrounds, but rewards and help along the way isn't such a bad thing. If I were to earn millions then my children would get a fantastic education and a comfortable lifestyle until they are old enough to look after themselves. At the end of the day a person has the right to do whatever they wish with their money.
- EnderMB, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't say that her parents are bad for giving her money. - delta013, on 08/10/2008, -2/+32Wow, her energy policy actually makes sense. I wish the candidates would propose something like that.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/10/2008, -2/+11Well, it is Obama's position --- all except for the "drilling would help us in the short term" bit.
Drilling won't help us for 5 to 10 years, and could be replaced with alternative energy in that time. Despite not having an infrastructure, or apparently, ANY support (other than Monsanto's corn), biofuels and solar are quicker and cheaper than oil -- even with a 100 years head start.
The other thing that pro-big energy folks don't consider, is that Exxon and the like are global companies. Anyone with the US would have to share those benefits with the world. So Oil found in the US or OIl found in Venezuela makes ZERO difference to our economy. And twice as much oil is being exported out of the USA than in 2000 -- probably because Exxon and the like don't actually pay that per-barrel fee you hear about in the media. They speculate on their own oil and buy it from themselves.- dragon76, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2I think the idea of limited offshore drilling with strict environmental oversight thing actually would be good, if it were REALLY limited. It would be a big "shut the ***** up" to the neocons and a great way the next time they want to run their mouths by saying "we did what you asked for last time and you were wrong".
- ACiDGRiM, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1"Drilling won't help us for 5 to 10 years" That's what President Clinton said 10 years ago, and we need the oil TODAY, but its not because he got in the way of something that would help even poor people because gas would not be 4-6 dollars a ***** gallon. If we DON'T start drilling today and in 5-10 years there hasn't been a massive adoption of some other energy source (Please don't be nieve enough to think that everyone will switch out their cars in 5 years, i've already had mine for 11 years) what will you say when people start demanding that we do more domestic drilling, because they have to choose between food or driving to work? Drilling won't help us for 5 to 10 years?
- maci01, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2I forget which senator researched this (he was a democrat) but he basically said that offshore oil drilling alone would only take the price of gas down 1 cent by 2020. The other thing about drilling is that there are already places to drill but companies aren't investing in them.

Look, nobody has been stopping these "gobal" oil companies from drilling the 3+ million acres they already have leased. They export twice as much as today as they did in 2000. What does that tell you? That is is a global market and that Big Oil will do whatever makes them the most profit.
The point is; we won't see a discount whether the oil is sucked up in the US or elsewhere. Most of these drilling and resource arrangements seem to give very little money to whomever hosts them -- because politicians are cheaper than taxpayers. They grease the skids and get sweet heart deals -- same goes for Coal and Timber. We lose more money cleaning up the environmental and health problems than we get from their "largess."
Big Oil didn't develop these wells 10 years ago because it is more expensive to get the oil available (you know, like under 1000 feet of water or where you have to hot water), than it is to get a production sharing agreement.
Also, they don't pay that "price per barrel fee" when they have an arrangement with the company pulling the oil out of the ground. You can have numerous companies buying and selling oil that are connected by holding companies and boards of directors -- it is a shell game, and the mere $13 Billion Exxon might show as a profit in the US is NOT the total profit they get from buying the oil from themselves. They are probably bringing most oil out of the ground for $25 per barrel.
Admittedly, I pulled that number out of my rear -- but it's about as accurate as what we THINK we know about oil prices. And I poop a lot of gems. - VitriolAndAngst, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1@ACiDGRiM
Naive?
What is Naive is to think that drilling ALL of our oil, which will provide 2% of the WORLD's supply in 5 to 10 years will do more than save you six pennies a gallon.
Israel is on a plan to have ZERO imports of gasoline for their cars in 3 years.
Conservation can save us 10% NOW, today. You can build a bio-fuel or solar energy plant (for plug-ins) in 3 years for less money than it takes to develop the equivalent energy in oil wells.
Look, Big Energy has had their candidates for the past 30 years and has had it their way. If they were the solution and not just a "profitable" company, then we would have had a solution today. It isn't going to happen.
I've heard this tone from Republicans before -- they know economics, they know warfare, they use the deep important voice. Our economy, from unfettered banking deregulation, outsourcing of jobs, ending tariffs on goods in an effort to "globalize" -- how long until you guys get that it has been a COMPLETE FAILURE. It was intended to be. The middle class has been growing poorer and less powerful year after year. Just look at Mexico if you want to see the future of these Libertarian-free market solutions.
We had the technology for 20 or 30 years to do most of the alternative energy infrastructure and the technology has only gotten better. However, in Carter's day, we were the lead in Solar and Bio-fuel technology, now we are in third place. What new jobs and energy are we going to get with the status quo? What new miracle is going to happen, besides low gas prices before the election (oh, surprise)? Sure, gas prices could go back to $1.50, if the scam of bidding up the price by Futures concerns and the oil companies themselves ended. But their greed has only hastened the inevitable future of unsustainable imported energy.
And even if we drill it here -- it is still an import, because we lose the money. It doesn't go back into our economy like local farming.
- jcm267, on 08/10/2008, -4/+1What Paris said in that lame video is actually President Bush's position.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Wrong.
Bush has had 8 years to "do something" with HIS position. If he hasn't done anything -- and it isn't like peak oil is a surprise -- that means he had no intention of DOING ANYTHING.
So it is a "talking point" not a position.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Wrong.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 08/10/2008, -2/+11Well, it is Obama's position --- all except for the "drilling would help us in the short term" bit.
- RedneckRandy, on 08/10/2008, -16/+5Ahh Paris you're so smart. Now give me some of that brain and suck my ***** ya ***** whore
- BotchaMcCoola, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Whore is such a nasty word. She just likes to bring joy to mankind.
- theclaw1, on 08/10/2008, -3/+12I like that above picture, she actually LOOKS decent in it. Toning down that annoying fashion style from several years ago helps a lot.
- bsmang, on 08/10/2008, -4/+21She's hawt.
- cgbspender, on 08/10/2008, -2/+10Well, finally she shows some brain. I bet she'd be a better choice than the senile man and Jesus' little brother.
- richirwin, on 08/10/2008, -1/+16She skewered the ***** out of McCain's idiotic campaign.
- runCMD, on 08/10/2008, -5/+2actaully rich - she attempted to skewer both. She accomplished only the usual inexperienced attempts at ageism. She doesn't like Obama much either. I think she's sitting on the fence like a lot of other Americans are now. You've got a divisive bigot on the democratic side, and a aging war hero on the right. Oh dear. Who do we vote for ?
make up your own mind, but DO vote.
I think this cute video - only shows that Paris speaks for herself. I speak for myself. I don't let a candidate -or- their goon squad tell me who to vote for. You shouldn't either - but you are welcome to it if that's your cup of tea.- brettmurf, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3Divisive bigot? Does Obama hate black people? That is the only race I have heard him openly speak out about. He put bad parenting (specifically the many missing fathers) and no desire to improve their own communities as their first need of change. That is some bigotry if I have ever seen it, huh?
- richirwin, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1And if the only thing you think about John McCain is that he's an "aging war hero," then you're not looking hard enough.
John McCain - A hero without honor. - runCMD, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1brettmurf - haven't you read any of Obama's books ? Obama doesn't hate black people. He puts black people first. Understand ? The president - and his first lady should serve "Americans" regardless of color. In his book 'Dreams from my father' he clearly speaks in his own voice about his bigoted hatred of what he termed his 'white captors' he left out the most hateful speech from his audio version - but the published pages are still available to read online. The president should not have an agenda to appease based on pigment. Divisive ? You bet. No other American campaign has so heavily relied on exciting the black community to get behind 'their' man. Ms Obama said it clearly in one of her interviews ... even though her husband was doing poorly with black Americans at the time - black America would wake up. Well -
Bigotry woke up. This so clearly goes against what Martin Luther King talked about one day - a man could be judged on the content of his character - and not the color of his skin. All Obama has done for the dems is excited people about color ... again. I hope the bigoted hopes he has inspired on so my Americans - die with his failure to capture that most important office. How many times have you heard how proud people were that a white man was going to get elected into office ? Few I bet - and probably then only by radical race based support groups. How many black people are saying it - now. Obama is relying heavily on them to capture the office of the presidency. He has no mandate from the people ... just a lot of apologists and bigotry inspired pigment worshipers. Oh, and he talks a good game - so he captures the lonely and disaffected looking for a better tomorrow.
I'd rather have a president who never hated based on color, never snorted the first gram of cocaine up their nose, or dumped their church in a time of crisis. But that's me. I won't be wasting my vote this year on Senator Obama.
- runCMD, on 08/10/2008, -5/+2actaully rich - she attempted to skewer both. She accomplished only the usual inexperienced attempts at ageism. She doesn't like Obama much either. - pk7677, on 08/10/2008, -4/+11She didn't buy "I Am Rich" iPhone app.... and that says a lot.
- MaverickSmooth, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2Because she is sponsored by motorola. Remember the Pink Razor?
- 1310nm, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1I don't think the Sidekick that her photos were, uh, hacked from was a Motorola.
- MaverickSmooth, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2Because she is sponsored by motorola. Remember the Pink Razor?
- twoblink, on 08/10/2008, -1/+12She sounds better than the other two candidates!!
And even though we've all seen all of her.. Honestly, if everybody is going to screw over the economy, I'd rather see it being done while she wears a pink bikini..
Paris, McCain, or Obama, who looks better flushing America down the toilet? I think we all know the answer to that one.
I love America and actually care about it so I will still vote for Ron Paul. But as far as bikinis, Paris all the way.- dragon76, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2After what the article was about and the beginning of your comment, I thought I read you were voting for RuPaul. Loves it.
- bane18, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2I'd take Ron Paul in a bikini over Paris.
- MadOgre, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1Fag.
LOL.... kidding....
No, seriously... that's ghey.
