- demorris28613, on 09/05/2008, -2/+7sounds a little racist to me, what would happen if oprah was white and did this?
- justcool007, on 09/05/2008, -1/+3people would ***** bricks
- Jake81499, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1You mean, 'Racist' people would ***** bricks.
- justcool007, on 09/05/2008, -1/+3people would ***** bricks
- PabloMac, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4She seems unconcerned about the wishes of half of her staff and audience.
- bdodger, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4It's unfortunate that Oprah who is held in high esteem by most Americans chooses to ignore a woman who exemplifies the principles of a large portion of American woman. Is it racist, I think not but it will diminish Oprahs esteem with many.
- pennhead, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1I don't believe it's racist either, but it is indeed prejudice & biased. Prejudice against conservatives. Biased in favor of liberals.
- bestshot, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4Oprah's credibility went out the window with her endorsement of the air-headed book by Eckhart Tolle. Now, using the money she has acquired from the support of women of all races, she doesn't feel the need to be fair and equitable. I say it's time to replace her with someone else who knows how to nod their head and bat their false lashes -- which is all she has done for at least the last five years. She became famous for 'being ordinary,' but she lost that after she began raking in the big bucks. Palin would be too intelligent for Oprah to handle.
- momofour, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2I dugg you up for your first sentence. But, I must disagree with the comment of whether Oprah should be 'fair and equitable' with her money. She can send every dime to Obama if she wants. It's her money.
Her to not have Palin on her show is her own poor choice as a show host (good choice as an Obama supporter though). It would be watched by EVERYONE...but she's free to make that choice. Just as you and I are free to change the channel...- bestshot, on 09/06/2008, -0/+0I never said she had to be fair and equitable -- I was commenting on her refusal to allow Palin even one minute of air-time while she has been pushing Obama as if he is her personal invention. She's free, as you say, to make any choice she wants, as I am free to disagree with it. And as to changing the channel...I disregarded Oprah and her show as unworthy of my time many, many years ago. I don't waste my time on talk shows of her caliber; don't watch soap operas; nor do I read romance novels -- again MY personal choice.
- momofour, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2I dugg you up for your first sentence. But, I must disagree with the comment of whether Oprah should be 'fair and equitable' with her money. She can send every dime to Obama if she wants. It's her money.
- JimDigg, on 09/05/2008, -1/+8Oprah is a Democrat, and she can say she's not going to use her show to push her views, but that's impossible. It's inevitable, and this is a perfect example. The only way the American women can send a message to Oprah that she doesn't agree is to stop watching her show. It's really as simple as that. That and maybe send her an e-mail to let her know she stopped watching.
- bestshot, on 09/06/2008, -0/+0I agree with you. I was never an Oprah fan, but now I make an effort to dissuade everyone I know from listening to her mindless banter. She's typical of Democrats who became wealthy from the work ethics of Republicans, and then enjoys 'biting the hand' that fed them.
- Queenwemo, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4It has been obvious to me for a long time now that Oprah has an agenda and she uses her clout, money, and name to promote her ideals. This does not surprise me at all, it just hammers home the point that your are either FOR Oprah or against her and must be vilified - truth be damned!
- maximenen, on 09/05/2008, -3/+3Oprah just does not want to hurt her brotha's campaign. Sad and RACIST!
- momofour, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2It has nothing to do with being racist against Palin.
- bestshot, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Momofour: I really don't understand your comments; are you pro or con this article? I agree that it is more of a political party sort of thing, instead of total racism, but I don't understand your response to this comment. It seems you are against what Oprah has done, yet you defend her in all your posts. What gives??!
- momofour, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2It has nothing to do with being racist against Palin.
- atomix, on 09/05/2008, -3/+3R A C I S T !!!!!
What would happen if the coin was flipped... Watch out for the Jessie Jackson's and Al Sha's of the world - ReverendJon, on 09/05/2008, -2/+3I am more surprised that half of her staff would want a conservative on the show!
I see some Job openings in the near future. - jebauer, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4I have a problem with celebrities, Hollywood types and the media who have already made up their mind on how to vote and, since they have a public platform, proceed to use it to slant and give their opinions like the American public is too stupid to be able to weigh the choices and make an intelligent decision. The lives of movie stars and celebrities on the television have no similarity to mine. What is important to them in a candidate may not strike the same cord with me. Oprah built a school for girls to educate and teach leadership. It seems a little hypocritical that she wouldn't at least have the first GOP vp on her show. I liked the statement by Geraldine Ferraro. She said she didn't agree with her politics but commended her on her achievement. Now that's class.
- bjryder, on 09/05/2008, -3/+1Sure, she'll have her on AFTER the campaign. Win or lose, that will not happen.
- OwlCreek, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4Hey, it's Oprah's show. She can tell her followers to vote for whomever she wants.
The problem is that she now makes this silly statement in regard to Governor Palin's non-appearance: "At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates."
Huh? So inviting the Obamas to her show and endorsing them wasn't providing a platform for any of the candidates? Only Oprah could get away with such silliness. - 10QGZus, on 09/05/2008, -5/+4Oprah can't have Palin on her show. She's a conservative, pro-life Christian. She is everything Oprah is not. Palin now one of the most respected women in our country, and Oprah can't have that kind of accolades for someone like Palin on her talk show. It goes against everything she believes in.
I hope people see the hypocrisy that has been so evident with Oprah and finally stop watching her talk show. It's a bastion of liberal, new-age garbage.- kayala, on 09/05/2008, -3/+4One of the most respected women in our country? Perhaps at your church she is.
- bestshot, on 09/06/2008, -2/+2I agree totally with 10QGZus. Hopefully Oprah will go the way of Phil Donahue, one of the first to spout his agenda on TV years ago. Now, the only thing that comes to mind when his name is spoken is...'Phil who?' I think it's time for Oprah to get the same response.
- Jake81499, on 09/06/2008, -1/+2She already does get the Ophra Who responce around here. I locked out whole channel that she's on! Don't want to let the kids accidentally see that racist crap.
- bestshot, on 09/07/2008, -1/+1Sounds like you're a person who cares enough to do the right thing...there should be more folks following your lead.
- demicritter, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4Put your money where your mouth is, Oppie-baby! You sung the love song for Obama, putting your media-empire behind promoting his political platform. Now, when a WOMAN Vice Presidential campaign is put before America you coldly and spitefully turn the other way.
Way to promote woman's progress you partisan hypocrite! - DuggDowner, on 09/05/2008, -3/+2Oprah said she wouldn't have people from either party on her show until after the election. Buried as inaccurate.
- darkmatter30, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3It's simple. She, like most any reasonable observer, knew Obama was running for President when she had him on her show. Imposing her policy regarding her show not being a political platform ensured she would not have to be "fair and equitable" to anyone else who might run. The "policy" is a convenient bit of camoflage for her refusal ... and thus a lie. She used her show as a platform for Obama, but doesn't want to give anyone else an even break.
- thunder4, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2 oprah is color blind, she only see black
- pennhead, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Oprah states "I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
Oh pul-leeze! Like the NEW Vice President of the United States would have any desire to be interviewed on your crappy show! - Wizened, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2I used to be a fan of Oprah. Operative word 'used', past tense. Long before this. But this is certainly part of the reason. I understand 'bully pulpit' to a point, but she's went beyond that loooong a go. Too bad.
- KickOuTTheUN, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1I believe Oprah is, and always has been, a closet racist, but like the Obama's, knows how to use their race for political or financial gain.
Many of the TV entertainment talk shows are blatantly biased, Oprah, Ellen, Letterman in addition to MSNBC, NBC, CNN, ABC. - Jake81499, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1I didn't even know Ophrabama was still on the air!
Doesn't really mater, I won't watch her. I wonder what sponsors she has on her commercials? Doesn't mater I don't watch them either. - infantrygrunt, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Oprah is a hypocritical liberal. She does not want to have her on her show because Sarah Palin stands for everything that Oprah is against. If they got into a political discussion Sarah would have Winfrey for lunch and still have room for dessert.
- bestshot, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1Yep...exactly right! Oprah couldn't handle someone with the intelligence of Palin. After all, she's used to guests from Hollywood -- no brains, but plenty of liberal hype, something she apparently doesn't mind giving air time to support.
- KickOuTTheUN, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0All women should boycott the show. I know liberal women won't but all "normal" women should.
