- reeder, on 10/10/2007, -12/+283Who the hell buys Vogue?
- s1ade, on 10/10/2007, -0/+247Sgns you use your computer too much no.79: You say "scroll" when referring to turning magazine pages :-P
- Wonderkind, on 11/08/2007, -1/+172I'm not too sure Vogue is worried about lost sales from disgruntled Diggers...
- openthink, on 10/10/2007, -5/+149love this kind of stat. vogue is off the charts. i remember a while back -- long time ago -- i used to subscribe to vanity fair. it got more and more ads -- and at same time it buried its table of contents somewhere in the middle of the magazine; so you had to scroll through page after page just to find a particular article or anything that wasn't an ad. even the page numbers were obscured somehow. a total waste of time. i canceled my subscription & pretty much haven't looked at it since...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+123Buying fashion magazines for the articles is like buying Penthouse for the, well, articles.
- redigit, on 10/10/2007, -2/+97Sounds just like PC magazine...
- Jonny5alive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+80Wait, why does a fashion magazine have 850 pages?
That's thicker than most novels. - notque, on 10/10/2007, -2/+74The advertisements are the "content", the articles are the "filler". The readers are the product. The Advertisers are the customers.
- lioneljaffry, on 10/10/2007, -2/+74Shock horror! Magazine about shoes and cosmetics turns out to be vapid and devoid of value!
- vault, on 10/10/2007, -4/+69Is there that much to write articles on in a fashion magazine? People want to see what new stuff there is- that's done with ads.
- SillyRabbits, on 10/10/2007, -1/+63Just like TV/Radio, more and more ads. People then decide it's not worth wading through all the garbage and then stop watching/listening, so they have lower ratings. Then, they insert more ads to make up for it. Cycle repeats...... I stopped listening to radio in the car when I once went through an entire 20 minute commute of entirely commercials.
- Sabretou, on 10/10/2007, -1/+53I'd say that is a sign he torrented those copies of Vanity Fair.
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+54hot girls is a subset of dumb girls so he wasn't wrong, just too specific.
- webcure, on 10/10/2007, -2/+53Modern ads are an interesting part of Vogue, but I wouldn't wanna pay for only 13% content.
- cuoops, on 10/10/2007, -0/+48I don't care about ads. I want a magazine without thick inserts and those stupid postcard things so I can freely flip through the pages.
- HenvY, on 10/10/2007, -1/+47Wait, VOGUE HAS 850 PAGES?
- wisie, on 10/10/2007, -7/+53hot
girls - superspud, on 10/10/2007, -0/+45And most super-models
- badaimer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43I've read about them somewhere. I believe they are called 'girls', but I'm only 93.87% sure though.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -14/+49Dumb
Girls
I fixed that for you. - LatvianHedgehog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+32And you still need to pay for it ? For that amount of ads they should give it to you for free and even pay you.

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28Vanity Fair has always carried some of the country's best writers, and runs some really excellent reporting and interviews. It's not a girls' magazine, it's a culture magazine. Check out the table of contents from the current issue:
http://www.vanityfair.com/magazine
It's the "style issue", but there's an article about Christopher Hitchens, one about Arthur Miller's abandonment of his son, Giuliani's wife, and one about Rupert Murdoch. That's not exactly Tiger Beat. - GiJoeBob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26I hear you there brother. No page numbers and hard to find table of contents? Makes me want to poke someone in the ear with a screwdriver.
- selrahc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24Sounds like pretty much any magazine...
- DocHoliday22, on 10/10/2007, -15/+39Isn't Vanity Fair and Vogue girls magz?
- hiPpymIck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24sorry to be a bit pedantic but it would be asterisks
Asterix (comic book) is a little guy with magic potion that makes him super strong - he beats up ancient Romans
translated into over 100 languages..but not very famous in US
http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=asterix&gwp=13 - Stratochief66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23As ass backwards 1984-esque that sounds I think you're right.
- OnoTadaki, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25Everyone needs to keep in mind that even though Vogue may have a lot of ads, it's unlike other magazines in that it's a high fashion magazine that people read to find new styles and products. Ads are pretty much what you're paying for when you buy the magazine because the ads are showcase the new fashion products and styles by each designer.
- punchingjudy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Wonder what the stats are on Wired Magazine. I've let my subscription go just because of how little content there is these days. God damned Ketel One.
- djmadness, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Maybe they should just call it a catalog
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18NPR FTW. Just need an iPod for when they have those fundraising drives.
- notque, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16I'm just repeating their internal terms for it.
- spawnfree, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20hot girls is a subset of dumb girls is now a meme
- Markpdotcom, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19I don't know why you're getting dugg down Doc, its exactly what I thought too! :)
- domusvita, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19Ladies with an attitude
Fella's that were in the mood
Don't just stand there, let's get to it
Strike a pose, there's nothing to it - Pilot85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Clear channel stations are lousy with commercials now. I love how the hosts are always like "another half hour of uninterrupted music!" They should add "after the next 10 minutes of commercials, that is."
- Kinkistyle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14On another note, am I the only one who thinks that the word to photograph ratio in Playboy is WAY too high? Are there THAT many people who buy that magazine for the articles?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13In then they blame p2p for their failures when it's simply the fact that they've betrayed the consumer.
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16You ***** eating bitch, you are allowed to ***** swear here, ***** ***** bitchface. ;)
- mousky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12What would you say if the the amount of tree cover in North America today is about the same amount as a 70 years ago despite the an increase in paper use? More trees are planted than logged in North America. Recycling and planting quick growth trees has minimized if not eliminated the need to log new areas.
- directedition, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13So Vogue is like the superbowl?
- acidhash, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13For all you diggers who have no idea what Vogue is and just randomly dugg the article:
Vogue IS advertisements. People buy Vogue to see them. That's the entire point of the magazine. Of COURSE it's going only have 13% content, assuming that you think people buy it just for commentary articles. - lostradamus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Hot girls like such as from South Carolina.
- zydeco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11It's Digg. If this information existed before 2005, they've probably never heard about it. Vogue has been doing this for 40-50 years now.
- punchingjudy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Vodka. ;)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The difference between Vogue and Wired is that Vogue is a fashion magazine, so clothing ads in Vogue can be considered a form of content. Wired isn't a vodka magazine, so the ads aren't content.
- Purin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10It...just comes to the house!
- Audacitor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11All those poor trees... *cry*
