- jeremyduffy, on 06/18/2008, -0/+25Kung Fu Panda was a great movie, but I was disappointed how little of a role Jackie had. I really respect his skill and his down-to-earth attitude about things. Even as he's gained popularity and a bigger role in American movies, he still refused to play villains or use the F word because he wants to be a role model to children. Someone who gains power, money, and respect while maintaining ethics and personal morals? Go figure.
- bxblox, on 06/18/2008, -0/+18I dont think he could ever play a convincing villain.
- kevyn, on 06/18/2008, -2/+16Nice guy, but I'd love to see him in a film as a bad ass who has huge epic kung fu fights with people and then just shoots them or something
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -0/+11He was in one, Enter the Dragon, as a henchman. This is when he was a stuntman and a struggling actor, doesn't really count. He appears for only enough time to get his neck broken by Bruce Lee.
- reconflux, on 06/18/2008, -1/+12Although I thought the movie was great, as a Jackie Chan fan, I was waiting for him to speak. He had about two lines in the movie minus all the unidentifiable random kung fu noises. I don't know why this is on the front page.
- chikuten, on 06/18/2008, -0/+10dugg for being a jackie chan article.
that is all. - cresswga, on 06/18/2008, -0/+9I do not think it is ego. I think it just that he has a lot of young fans and wants to be a positive role model for them.
Of course that is assuming the young fans do not try to replicate any of his super stunts and kill themselves trying! - havuk, on 06/18/2008, -1/+9Jackie Chan played villain in some Bruce Lee movies
- jebzaki, on 06/18/2008, -0/+8Jackie did the voice of the monkey ....he had like 5 lines
- B3000, on 06/18/2008, -0/+7"I never show I’m the superhero"... except... you know... when I run up the sides of buildings, run down the sides of buildings, jump off the roofs of buildings, jump off cliffs, rollerskate under a moving semi, snowboarding off a cliff to catch a helicopter in midair, dangle from a helicopter as it careens through the Kuala Lampur skyline bouncing me off billboards, fight five guys while hanging from a moving bus, kick someone through a car windshield, use a bamboo pole to fight off 50 dudes with axes, water-ski without skis, fight a bunch of guys in a giant wind tunnel, kick Benny the jet's ass...
- Final, on 06/18/2008, -0/+6It was Mr. Nice Guy where he drove through the mansion right? He should just do more of that.
- Meekus, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Bruce Lee VS Jackie Chan:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTl_ZSaeDBo - Elliuotatar, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5I didn't even know Jackie voiced a character. Why would they hire big name talent like that to do 5 lines for a minor character? Does Hollywood ENJOY spending money?
- shutaro, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4Yeah, but when was the last time Jack Black ran up the side of a building?
- Sirlolalot, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4The forbidden kingdom, worth a watch very enjoyable :)
- Frozenfuryblade, on 06/18/2008, -1/+5Well it is about Jackie Chan's entire acting career... not just Kung Fu Panda.
- krazykor, on 06/18/2008, -1/+5suuurrrrrre.
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4You can have a large ego when your fan base is measured in billions.
And I don't even think it's about ego, more about personna.
His asian fan base would be disappointed if he played a vilain, because that would mean he loses or dies at the end. He wants to be a hero to kids, he says that often.
Jackie Chan movies are about Jackie Chan, not the story or anything else. - XdigitalXdeathX, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3I have so much respect for this dude. He's the BEST to watch on any Talk Show when doing interviews. So down to earth and modest. A great role model for everybody.
- Willy99, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Jackie Chan vs. Bennie the Jet Urquidez (in part 6). One of the best martial arts fights in film, or so some say. It is pretty intense, but not sure if it is up there with the greatest ever.
http://www.liketelevision.com/liketelevision/tuner ... - TheZorch, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Jackie Chan is pretty down to earth sort of guy. He enjoyed many years of enormous fame in Asia for years and starred in a lot of movies before coming to Hollywood.
- nynety, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3He's actually performed almost all of those stunts himself, though :)
- bjs3171, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3wasn't he in a movie with Jet Li recently? did that come out yet? i really want/wanted to see that. jackie chan and jet li in the same movie. sounds ***** awesome.
btw, i bet Chan would totally beat Jet Li's ass in real life. - rtheybakingcake, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3I love the Mitsubishi EVO IX, but his car is pretty f'n ugly.
http://www.autoblog.com/2005/09/01/jackie-chan-spe ... ... = Ultimate Rice - orion846, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3jackie chan's new movie kung fu panda? i could count the number of words he said in the movie on my hands.
- mlvassallo, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3He was barely in Kung Fu Panda. I mean his character was there, but if you didn't know it was him his 3 lines could have been said by anybody. I was sad.
- KenOh, on 06/18/2008, -2/+4For the last ***** time, comments have nothing to do with how many people decide to click the "digg it" button, and hence have nothing to do the "digg algorithm."
- Koushiro, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2Well if you look at a lot of the older Chinese films that Chan was in, he was the bad guy a lot. I think that might be kind of a Chinese film star thing. You play the bad guy all the time when your a nobody, but when you make it your the hero.
Heck, he was an extra in some other big name action movies. Some of his first US films had him as the villain too I think. Not the cannonball run ones, but the others. - inactive, on 06/18/2008, -2/+4Was it not Jack Black in Kung Fu Panda?
- munawarali2, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2A lot of it is cultural.
- Regulator980, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2Here's a nice attached photo for those that want a clearer look.

- omikun, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2I've heard he respects his parents a lot and spent a lot of money buying houses and stuff for them. But I've also heard he has many mistresses after he got married :(
- Gregory11, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1Jackie THE BEST!!!
- ynohtnalude, on 06/18/2008, -5/+6Too bad in his personal life, his ethics and personal morals are questionable :)
- shutaro, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1I concur.
- WarZpriTe, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1Agreed
- SolidBones, on 06/18/2008, -1/+1He may not have had many lines in that movie, but what respectable person is going to hear "wanna work with Jack Black and voice a stretchy kung fu monkey?" and say no? Not Jackie Chan, that's for sure.
- DarkLaughingMan, on 06/18/2008, -0/+0The Kingdom (I think). Yes it came out already.
- Andrwmorph, on 06/18/2008, -2/+2Its because he can't speak engrish
- cdigioia, on 06/18/2008, -2/+2K I was wrong - Digg still thinks it's funny, & any indications of having/ever having had a girlfriend may get dugg down - fair enough.
- passedoutghost, on 06/19/2008, -0/+0Give it a little credit, it's a rice rocket.
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -2/+2Not going to happen. And his latest films hasn't been that good.
- cdigioia, on 06/18/2008, -5/+3Ha, kinda funny but...
The whole "no-one-on-Digg-has-a-girlfriend-ever" bit is a bit old.
Maybe just to me, though if I'm wrong just digg me down (seriously, not a lame "don't-digg-me-down-cuz-I-said-so bit crap that people pull) - Andrwmorph, on 06/18/2008, -4/+1Rumble in the Bronx?
- dafragsta, on 06/18/2008, -8/+3~100 diggs. 10 comments.
- jun2san, on 06/18/2008, -11/+564 diggs on front page with no comments? Hmmm....my spamdar is going off.
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -15/+7Chan only ever plays good guys in his movies, and he never shuts up about it. This always annoys me. While it's his life and his career and he can do whatever he wants, I still think there's some kind of huge ego thing going on there. An actor should stretch himself and play all sorts of roles both good and bad. It strikes me that he's a bit of a narcissist in that regard. But then again, he's earned the right to decide what he wants to play as he has battered the ***** out of his body in order to entertain us. /shrug

What is Digg?
