These are the movie where either sucked, or he could have been replaced and the film would have been drastically better.
I quit you a long time before you will quit the industry. You havent had passion for years, you took ***** roles with horrible dialogue. You ended your career by making bad choices in your career direction. End of story, nobody will miss you.
P.S. - You have 2 expressions. Happy/cocky, and Angry. and 90% of the time you have no expression, that doesnt count as 3. - cowsgonemadd3, on 02/03/2008, -6/+229With millions in the bank if I didnt like it I would quit too. Or take a break for a while.
- jacko7, on 02/03/2008, -39/+189It's about time.
- nreynolds, on 02/03/2008, -14/+107he acts? I thought he just played "Nic Cage" in every movie...
- zcrazyfly, on 02/03/2008, -6/+92I thought he was good in Adaptation.
- EatingPie, on 02/03/2008, -12/+88Wow, an out-of-context quote, and we eat it up.
"I'M NOT INTERESTED IN SHOWING MY FACE OR MAKING STATEMENTS. I enjoy acting when it works. Some movie stars look like they are having a ball, but I'm tired of it. It has made me reclusive. That is an increasingly gnawing feeling in my body."
The whole first two sentences don't appear in the linked article.
He may be talking about interviews / his public persona. NOT acting per se. The quote works completely in that context. Also, the following quote about drinking makes more sense when taken in the context of his public persona.
To edit the first sentences from the quote was wrong, and I believe makes the story inaccurate (even for the simple reason that the context is unclear).

-the not-noob users of digg. - MystDarkarma, on 02/03/2008, -7/+64Have any of you seen Lord of War? I personally enjoy Nicolas Cage, and have almost always found him to be a good actor. The man has class, and he knows how to present the story at hand.
- Frostman3D, on 02/03/2008, -16/+70Personally, I don't like the guy all that much. The last few movies I've seen him in were horrible, or he sucked in them badly. The wicker man? Ghost Rider? Most of the people that work with him talk about what a dick he is.
I won't miss him at all, but we all know he's not going to quit, this is just a publicity stunt. - inactive, on 02/03/2008, -4/+53Lord of war was an amazing movie. You guys don't knock samuel jackson for being in some of the ***** movies ever do you? Why the heck would you knock this guy for making a living as well?
He's making a living for himself and doing quite well. His son is a pretty lucky kid to have a dad like that. - inactive, on 02/03/2008, -12/+49Cage is tired of Hollywood? How would you know, he always looks tired.
- MindTrigger, on 02/03/2008, -1/+38He's laughing at your post, all the way to the bank.
- inactive, on 02/03/2008, -14/+51Do you realize how many movies he's done? Do you think he really gives a ***** if any of them tank? Quite a few of those movies were good, you just have ***** taste.
- Eslamicolt3, on 02/03/2008, -2/+38I can't completely sign off on him. I'm still laughing at Raising Arizona.
- chris9902, on 02/03/2008, -2/+35Con Air was only saved by John Malkovich. That was a pretty good 90s action film.
All those other movies suck. - cyberdork, on 02/03/2008, -8/+41Leaving Las Vegas shouldn't be on that list. That one and Raising Arizona were the only two good movies he made. But you forgot The Rock
- inactive, on 02/03/2008, -1/+31Correction: Francis Ford Coppola is his uncle. His real name is Nicholas Coppola.
- atbnet, on 02/03/2008, -3/+33Samuel Jackson knows they are ***** movies and does them for the lulz.
- ThinkBox, on 02/03/2008, -3/+29I liked the movie The Rock, and His roll wasnt that bad in that one, i thought. Face-Off was a great one too...
- nymphetamine, on 02/03/2008, -27/+53You forgot Weatherman. That movie was just horrible.
- rupprupp29, on 02/03/2008, -4/+29Apparently it's just me, but I don't mind Nicolas Cage... even though I would disagree with the argument that he plays the same role in every movie, does it make him a horrible actor even if he does? It worked for Chris Farley.
(Plus I think Cage's performance in Matchstick Men was extremely underrated. There's not an actor in Hollywood who could've done that role better.) - hamidrezan, on 02/03/2008, -5/+30he shouldn't, he hasn't got enough Razzies yet!
- lewzer, on 02/03/2008, -1/+24i don't think anyone has mentioned lord of war in this chain yet but i thought it was a great movie.
- Godel, on 02/03/2008, -2/+25Don't forget lord of war.
- HardSide, on 02/03/2008, -3/+26I liked The Rock (Connery made it good, hands down) and I didnt mind 8MM. Other then that...eh.
- cbelden88, on 02/03/2008, -16/+38Hasn't made a good movie since "Raising Arizona". Good riddance.
- houndeyex, on 02/03/2008, -1/+23It was dry, but I'm not sure horrible is the right term.
- Gabberwok, on 02/04/2008, -3/+24Let's be honest - he hasn't really been "acting" for quite some time now...
- merripen, on 02/03/2008, -1/+22As the following link will inarguably prove, this would be an incredible loss to the film industry as a whole:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6i2WRreARo - aaronsdropzone, on 02/03/2008, -3/+22I'm pretty sure he quit acting a long time ago. He's just been playing the same person (undoubtedly himself) in different scenarios ever since. Good riddance.
- Bostocks, on 02/03/2008, -12/+31I know I'm going to get dugg down for this, but Nicolas Cage is one of my favorite actors. Sure, every character is the exact same (depressed egotist is really good at his job but now faces new challenges), but it's like seeing someone who you know being put into different scenarios.
- EllimistX, on 02/03/2008, -0/+18No, it's Nic Cage with John Travolta's face....
- sronbheatha, on 02/03/2008, -1/+19THE BEES!!!!!!!!!!!THEY'RE ON MY FACE. AAAAGGH MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bologner, on 02/03/2008, -1/+18Matchstick Men wasn't bad, though.
- inactive, on 02/03/2008, -10/+26YES!
- schmitey, on 02/03/2008, -2/+18While I agree whole-heartedly with thinkbox, the one exception is Matchstick Men. Doesn't even compare with Russell Crown in A Beautiful Mind but I still think its a darn good movie which shows a glimmer of what his acting ability could be.
- nymphetamine, on 02/03/2008, -0/+16Lucky you.
- Vigilo, on 02/03/2008, -1/+16Wicker Man too my god so much crap he made!
- HollywoodJoker, on 02/03/2008, -2/+17he surely looked tired in Ghost Rider.
- uselessaccount2, on 02/03/2008, -10/+25I just seen Ghost Rider the other day, and I must agree. That is one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Horrible dialogue.
- TypeEE, on 02/03/2008, -3/+17yeah, this is action reaction. Audiences is tired of him as much as he is tired of being in a movie.
- inactive, on 02/03/2008, -0/+13I thought con-air was a comedy.
- CrankyHippo, on 02/03/2008, -0/+13Its a shame, you will be sorely missed Mr. Cage... And will we ever find out, how that toast got burned? Quite possibly one of the greatest mysteries of our time. /s
http://youtube.com/watch?v=MfIxYnG8UwM - osbjmg, on 02/03/2008, -1/+14I just seen? Do you match tense much?
- jdeuel, on 02/03/2008, -0/+13Adaptation was great, and Face/Off is good for some fun
- ThinkBox, on 02/03/2008, -2/+15I didnt see it, so I couldnt attest to its suckiness
- inactive, on 02/03/2008, -3/+15i think you're confusing him with tom cruise
- OpaqueMurdock, on 02/03/2008, -0/+12From what I recall of it, I liked weatherman and plan to see it again someday.
- NITROSLICK, on 02/03/2008, -2/+14ADAPTATION is a great film you tasteless hacks! As well as LEAVING LAS VEGAS.
