I've read things on Digg like children being shot it Gaza and thought, "Oh man, that's such a tragedy!". And then I feel anger toward the perpetrators. But I read this story, and it was like someone punched me in the stomach. Oh NOOO! Not a model!!!

P. aeruginosa is an opportunist (and a pain to get rid of), so you hope there isn't some underlying condition that's causing her to get immuno-compromised. Best of luck to her and her family, I hope she recovers fully.

That is just being cynical for the heck of it. Her beauty is what made her famous, her fame is why the world knows about her accident, so, sure if she was not beautiful we would not know about it. But I am sure any story about a person getting their hands and feet chopped off would generate pity for that person.
And as far as her needing to kill herself now... of course losing hands and feet is a pretty big blow, but it is not like she losses all of her beauty because of it. She will have prosthetic replacements, and while she may not be doing any hand modeling in the near future, I am thinking that her becoming less attractive is the least of her issues. - inactive, on 02/25/2009, -0/+12her feet was cut off, not legs

I have to wonder... why do we generally feel bad about it when this happens to a beautiful young women... but not when it's a fat white guy? We're pretty screwed up as a species when potential mate's get empathy and everyone else gets a cold heartless joke/insult. a lot of people who become parapeligcs are just thankful to be alive considering the close brush with death that they've had. i'm guessing that after some time when this girl gets to see her family grow, has neices and nephews (or kids of her own) she'll thank every day that she's alive and able to witness those moments. it's obviously a tough situation, but to have things like medicine that can let you keep living, that's always better than being dead - even if you just get one moment of joy, you'll be happy to be there for it. - reflect23, on 01/22/2009, -0/+10Hey, I'm a 5'6" dude with no money and I'm getting along just fine.
