- Addicuss, on 12/18/2008, -0/+13RIP to someone who played one of the most entertaining characters in the trek universe
- ScreenRant, on 12/18/2008, -0/+11Dammit...
- casbar, on 12/18/2008, -0/+11She really was great in Next Generation. I always looked forward to her episodes.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 12/18/2008, -0/+8It sucks. I'm old enough now that the celebrities dying are people that I actually knew of. RIP Majel.
- wannaberockstar, on 12/18/2008, -1/+9Another blow to the Star Trek franchise.
- linkerm, on 12/18/2008, -0/+8She was so great as Deanna's mom on ST:NG. RIP, Majel :(
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -0/+8Mr. Scott...one to beam up...Energize.
Ex astris, scientia.
Welcome home Mrs. Roddenberry, welcome home. - aethelberga, on 12/19/2008, -0/+7I met her at our local con. Not only was she a funny and gracious guest, but she got right in there and hung out with the fans. She will be sorely missed.
- poptartrevival, on 12/18/2008, -0/+7I met her at a convention when I was 8. She was an awesome lady. Call me a nerd but I liked her as the doctor on E:FC best.
- cainpitt, on 12/19/2008, -0/+5This is so sad. "First Contact" was on tonight. Loved TNG.
- pingsmoth, on 12/19/2008, -0/+5If this doesn't make the front page of Digg, I quit.
- trer, on 12/19/2008, -0/+4Majel Roddenberry was more than just the computer's voice she was calm in Gene's creative storm, she provided the humanity in Gene's Star Trek which really made the show special. She helped create and build the franchise into what it is today and never ever was "the star"...yet Star Trek would never have worked without her.
- poptartrevival, on 12/19/2008, -0/+3You know something from the huffington post will beat it out :-/
- Chronotic, on 12/19/2008, -0/+3The original "number 1". Godspeed, Majel.
- infamousjr, on 12/19/2008, -0/+3Saw her in a couple of interviews a long while back. Really nice and down to earth.
IMO, Lwaxana Troi was her best role...especially the episode where she came to terms with the death of her son.
The next Trek film should be dedicated to her...without her none of it would have been possible. - zarvensha, on 12/19/2008, -0/+3What can I say?
I was talking with someone a while ago and we were asking whose death (media related) would make the most impact?
We came down to Sean Connery, Bill Shatner and Clint Eastwood.
Majels death makes it all the more possible....................... - yaddayaddayoda, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2:'(
- EatingPie, on 12/19/2008, -1/+3She was the only person to appear in every single incarnation of Star Trek.
TOS, Movies, TNG, DS9, VGR, ENT and even JJ Abrams' upcoming movie.
She also played a small but significant role in Babylon 5.
-Pie - jboitnott, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1Very good of you to point that out. She played the first officer for Captain Pike in the original Star Trek pilot back in '66 (filmed in '64). The idea of a female first officer back then was so revolutionary -- that Gene Roddenberry had to eliminate it from the show when they reworked it and brought Kirk in. The suits at NBC were not having it. Gene Roddenberry rubbed it in their faces tho by taking the weird pointy-eared guy and making HIM the first officer in the new version.

What is Digg?
