Ahem, not to spoil the gloat, but if a story about an anchor not willing to report about Paris Hilton is a hot topic, isn't that actualy still giving undue attention to Paris Hilton?!
I didn't catch her name. I want to write a note to MSNBC thanking them for hiring at least one journalist among all the entertainers that thrive on that drivel.
I agree with Mika that the Paris story is stupid, but don't you think she's being a bitch here? Maybe it's okay because it's a morning show where people are encouraged to be opinionated (I don't really know, haven't even heard of this show til now), but unless that's the premise I think perhaps she should have voiced her opinion to her employers.
Kinda funny they pulled Imus off the air and put on their news anchors, and apparently Imus took reporting the news more seriously than MSNBC's staff does.
She's still good looking for a middle aged chick (it does matter in TV news, just look at Lara Logan and Michelle Kosinski), and she has a lot of experience under her belt. She would have no problem finding employment elsewhere.
"In other news, I am refusing to broadcast news about Paris Hilton. Instead, we will have 24-hour non-stop coverage of my brave stand against Paris Hilton-related news."
Who gives a rat ass about some rich mentally weak and ill Paris Hilton? The anchor should be rewarded with a career at a real news media station...Wait..I almost forgot.. There are no real main stream media news outlets..Oops. I guess she'll have to stay there and continue to read propaganda
Alhtough I am actually taking the time to comment on this, perhaps we have better things to do in life than be concerned about Paris Hilton. Ask yourself: will she personnally make me a better person? Will she share with me her fortune? Is she worth the minutes my mind would use up thinking about her (no need here for fantasy-related comments!)? Will Paris come visit me in the hospital? Do I even know her or have her phone number to call her and see how she's making out after her woopie-doo few weeks in special treatment lock-up? No. Of course, I just spent two minutes writing this.
Her point is valid but she could have been more professional about it. She was making it into a circus and frankly acting like a child. Grabbing from her coworker and lighting things on fire. Hold yourself to a higher standard. Great thought, poor execution.
MUST SEE: MSN still insists on using bloated, slow-running Windows Media Player instead of fast, instant-streaming flash video!
< rant on >
Seriously -- wtf are people still doing embedding media player. Not only is it hilariously slow (please wait 30 seconds while we stream... lol... wtf?) but the thing allows executable scripts. Its a wide open door for viruses and trojans and if you think they've closed all the holes you're just clueless.
Good for her, what was up with her co-anchor's though trying to talk about it, I guess they gave in to the voice in their ears. Hope she moves up in the news world, we need more people like that in this world.
It ain't all that. Total set-up and planned anyway. If she/they so badly didn't want to discuss Paris that day, then just move the script and go on. They keep talking and talking about how they, well, don't want to talk about Paris! What an attention-getting ratings ploy, pure and simple (note MSNBC posts a distant 3rd in the cable news ratings, behind CNN, and well behind #1 FOX News).
fair play to her. she's not doing it cos she doens't believe in it. the Paris Hilton story isn't news, its celebrity gossip. Save it for the glossy magazines.
