- ScottMcIntyre, on 11/04/2008, -2/+79The UK press are always having a go at Kate for either being too fat, too thin, airbrushed, or not airbrushed enough. It's a sad fact that media today want their cover stars to be digitally manipulated. In this case, the magazine did the enhancements they do as a matter of routine to all their stars. Leave off Kate and let her be herself... she's lovely as she is! And she's happy in herself- which is all that should matter.
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/04/2008, -3/+47I get sick and tired of the media telling women you have to be stick thin to be beautiful. I think women are far more beautiful with a shape/figure.
- granolajoe, on 11/04/2008, -0/+39Autopsy? That sounds morbid.
She's a beautiful woman just the way she is. Not sure why there's any need to manipulate her image - lucy22, on 11/04/2008, -1/+34She is very attractive on her own. She didn't need the airbrushing.
- ohnoerino, on 11/04/2008, -2/+35Aren't all actresses and models airbrushed for magazines in some capacity? It seems like they should have the ability to opt out if they so desire.
- basye, on 11/04/2008, -0/+25One great aspect about getting older is not giving a ***** what anyone else thinks.
- yrewol, on 11/04/2008, -2/+23more cushion for the pushin'
- liquisoft, on 11/05/2008, -0/+13She's lovely without airbrushing.
Besides, airbrushing is a part of every magazine photoshoot. Even women who don't need it, get it. It's done to cover up minute flaws that can become distracting. - AmyVernon, on 11/04/2008, -2/+15It's amazing how airbrushed everyone is on covers; it'd be nice if the mags would just let beautiful people be beautiful instead of perfect.
- TheShom, on 11/05/2008, -2/+14Real women have curves.
- zadadka, on 11/04/2008, -0/+10And we wonder why girls get so hung up on their size and skin quality, that, a little bit more every day, they stop being themselves ......and worse.
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -0/+10I am still a fan.
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -0/+9She is FURIOUS!
- fishbeef33, on 11/05/2008, -0/+9Kate Winslet = hottest (and classiest) woman in Hollywood. I've had a thing for her since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
- commentposted, on 11/05/2008, -1/+10BOOOOOORING!!!
- Pyroteq, on 11/05/2008, -0/+8Leave girls alone for ***** sake. Thanks to MTV and these stupid glamour photo shoots, it's just making guys bitch about how a girl isn't hot because she doesn't look as good as the girl on the front of a magazine (Who has gone through 5 hours worth of touch ups in photoshop) and it's causing to females to worry about their looks because they're striving for unrealistic perfection.
- buckchoris, on 11/05/2008, -2/+10***** daily mail.
- Jektal, on 11/05/2008, -0/+8No, he included the boobies
- smotpoker, on 11/05/2008, -0/+8I agree, but to be fair I think corporations (placing all the ads) and women themselves (who often get too competitive/jealous or raise their own girls to look for rich men rather than love because they think it would solve all of their problems) are as much or more to blame than the media generally.
Everyone these days seems to focus on money or looks and if anyone criticizes it, they blame it on capitalism or "just how life works". Every time I hear that, I wonder how much of what is really has to be and how much of it wouldn't be if we had the resolve to change it. Unfortunately, corporations and social influence keep most people too busy to maintain any such resolve/efforts... - spritom, on 11/05/2008, -0/+7...or so I have read!
*air guitars Spinal Tap* - Meekus, on 11/05/2008, -0/+7It's ok to read other articles too.
- RobotBuddha, on 11/05/2008, -3/+10Real women often confuse lumps of fat with curves.
- PhantomRogue, on 11/05/2008, -0/+6Its ok, because Digg isn't confined to the USA. People can digg whatever they want whenever they want.
- habbofresh, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4"My baby fits me like a ... flesh tuxedo!"
"I'd like to sink her with my... PINK TORPEDO!"
"BIG BOTTOM!" - funkytaco, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4I love her.
- spyd4r, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4go on playboy and prove it then...
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4I wish I could see the unshopped version – lately magazines have been taking the retouching a bit overboard and people don't even seem to have a texture.
- theadvinci, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4I don't think there is even one magazine cover today... where the person on it hasn't gone through digital manipulation.
- EvoIII8, on 11/05/2008, -1/+5ZING!
- fr3ddie, on 11/05/2008, -0/+3*obligatory link to the nude scene from the titanic* ...(or at least thats what i was hoping for ;)
- jonesyb, on 11/05/2008, -1/+4She's brilliant on many levels. I wasn't really a fan until I had seen The Hours. Absolute class.
- Sean42, on 11/05/2008, -0/+3Who ***** cares?
- kronix2, on 11/05/2008, -0/+3"The UK press are always having a go at Kate"
No, just the right-wing rags, the vapid ***** women's magazines, and The Mirror:
The Sun
The Daily Star
The Daily Mail
The Daily Express
The Mirror
Evening Standard
OK! magazine
Hello! magazine
And every other gossip magazine out there. - hansolo, on 11/05/2008, -0/+3I'll sleep in her muff all day.
- spaceman84, on 11/05/2008, -1/+4Typical magazine *****. She was smokin' hot in Sunshine On The Spotless Mind. Blue or orange hair.
- Luciapalooza, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2she wasn't in the Hours
- EricDraven, on 11/06/2008, -0/+2Autopsy does sound morbid because it's supposed to be done on dead people... you do a biopsy on someone who's still alive.
- finklehorn, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2airbrushing? rubber stamp tooling!
- lysdexia, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2Hat's off to Ms Winslett for refusing to accept the unwarranted slurs - she knows she is beautiful as is and needs no flattering, glamourising aid. You can easily tell from the photographs that she refused to accept any interference or manipulation of how she appears.
No hair-dressing, no make-up, no subtle, flattering photography lighting - it's all there exactly as nature intended. - inactive, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2The truth is neither her nor her publicist or even the magazine reps have any idea what was done. The only one that really knows is the touchup artist and from what I've seen they do whatever the hell they want and probably tweaked her body proportions as a matter of course without even thinking about it, despite what the magazine says.
- sphoony, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2I think she's hot either way. I prefer the meatier Kate. I like a little "mash" with my "bangers".
- harrison5394, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2This isn't Obama.com, *****.
- TheShom, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Real women tell honythraj to STFU
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1Good suggestion either way ...
but that's the home of air-brushing. - EvoIII8, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1Bow-Chicka
- RobotBuddha, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1@honthraj
Seriously. I don't know where these supposed outbreaks of women starving themselves are. For every magazine cover which might suggest an unrealistic ideal, there's a million real life men trying to get in their pants who are telling their obese selves that they're not fat. I have nothing against being fat. I couldn't walk for a year, God knows I put on a lot of weight during that time. But what drives me nuts is fat denial, when people are fat but just won't admit it to themselves. If there's something in your life more important than being in shape, embrace that lifestyle with pride. But don't pretend you're not fat when you are. - YinofYang, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Exactly. What the hell more do people want?
When was it so important to be measured by outward appearances than the things you can do? A large part of civilized culture has their priorities seriously ***** up. - mikebb79, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1liar
- jonesyb, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Yes. How foolish I feel right now.
I meant Nicole Kidman, who was exceptional in The Hours. As were all the three main actresses.
As you were. -
