- clifyt, on 03/19/2009, -0/+5In a civilized country, someone shoving a camera in your face and haranguing someone would be considered assault and one would be well within their rights to defend themselves.
Stalking laws should be the same for organizations as they are individuals...if I follow someone around and yell at them, I'm going to get ordered to keep my distance and have nothing to do with the individual. If I have a camera, I guess that makes it different. And if I hire dozens of people with camera to follow these folks around, it is 'journalism'. I understand the slippery slope we all need to look out for with freedom of the press, but there are other laws that show that harrasment regardless of your credentials is not in the public good.
I was in the entertainment industry in my youth and I'd see what would happen to friends when they got a little fame and then couldn't come out in public because of these *****. And this was 15 years back...it was bad then, and I couldn't imagine how bad it is now. I nearly punched one myself when I was pulled out of the way so that some jerk could get a better picture of a female friend without some ugly dude in the frame. I think kanye west is a douchebag, but I can admit he has created some memorable music. Me being a Daft Punk junkie, I actually liked their work with him on stronger and thought it was a decent song overall. Of course no one does remixes of daft punk like....daft punk. Alive 2007. Ridiculous. But I digress....
Certain artists appeal to certain people. I'm honestly not a big fan of most hip hop, but I have my groups/artists that I find appealing. Same goes for country, big band, death metal, electronic, etc...
